Description: Bristol, Connecticut - On October 12, 2022, sometime around 7:30 p.m., 35-year-old Nicholas Brutcher and his brother,Nathan Brutcher, left their parents’ house and went to Bleachers Bar located at 300 Middle Street, Bristol. Both had been drinking before they went to the bar. That night, the bar had an “open mic” forum and Nicholas Brutcher planned to do some stand-up comedy. While sitting at the bar, Nicholas Brutcher got into a fight with another patron. The altercation began when the other patron put his arm around Brutcher, who reacted by elbowing the man in the face. The fight then spewed outside into the parking lot and police were called. When officers arrived, witnesses pointed out the Brutcher brothers were driving away. At around 8:52 p.m., Officer Harrison Pollock responded to Bleachers, upon arrival, bystanders directed his attention to a white pickup truck leaving the parking lot. Officer Pollock pulled over the Brutcher brothers' truck as they were leaving. Nathan Brutcher was driving and both men were highly agitated and making rude remarks to the officers on scene. Because Nathan Brutcher was driving with a suspended license, the truck was towed. Both men became irate at the officers during the stop, yelling and cursing at them to the point where both were ticketed for creating a public disturbance. The Brutchers' mother was asked to come pick them up. After being picked up by his mother and returning home from the traffic stop, Brutcher immediately began putting on his camouflage, preparing his weapons, and within 30 minutes, at 10:32 p.m. placed the call to 911 to lure officers to his home. Sergeant Dustin DeMonte, Officer Alex Hamzy, and Officer Alec Iurato responded. Upon arrival, they approached the side door of the residence. They observed Nathan Brutcher inside the house and ordered him to come outside. At that time, from a concealed position on the neighboring property, Nicholas Brutcher fired upon the three officers multiple times, at first using an AR-15 style rifle and later with a handgun. All three officers were hit. Sergeant DeMonte and Officer Hamzy sustained fatal wounds. Nicholas Brutcher walked to the driveway and toward Officer Hamzy and Sergeant DeMonte. Nicholas Brutcher’s parents, who had come outside and in the rear yard of their home, saw what happened next. Nicholas Brutcher proceeded to stand over each officer and fire multiple shots into them, fatally shooting both - first Sergeant DeMonte and then Officer Hamzy. Upon seeing this, Catrina Brutcher began to scream uncontrollably for Nicholas Brutcher to stop. At one point, Nicholas Brutcher’s AR-15 stopped firing (he had incorrectly inserted the magazine) and he switched to a handgun and continued firing. During this time, Nicholas Brutcher yelled, “How proud are you of me? How proud?”. Although wounded in the upper leg area, Officer Iurato was able to move around the back of the house and ultimately to the location of the Bristol police cruisers parked on Redstone Hill Road. From that position, Officer Iurato fired one shot striking Nicholas Brutcher at the base of his skull killing him.
I’m a retired cop and I’ve seen nothing like this. That first scene was straight up Reno911. Are they fighting? Are they friends? Lovers? The cop shoves him to the ground and then it’s all joking? That command presence was beyond shocking; they let that scene get way too far out of control. Is this normal Bristol behavior? Is Bristol on another planet? Gosh that was weird.
Totally weird. I don't know how or why they let Butcher get so close to the officer's personal space many times. Any other PD would have him on the ground from such actions
I felt the exact same way. It was surreal to watch. The only way I could see that being normal is if that officer knew him and they were VERY good friends.
Firing one round from that distance after being shot and continuing to take fire, and landing that one round perfectly on the off switch is next level.
The cop that survived is an absolute beast. Every man feels invincible he was scared shitless and got the fuck up and one single shit with a handgun literally 30 yards away. Absolute animal
Listen, I’m no expert on police protocol, but I’m very surprised he wasn’t arrested during that traffic stop. I’m not placing blame on any of the officers involved, but it was clear that the man was in a very intoxicated state, and was very unstable. Not to mention he literally threatened the officers and was constantly getting super up close and personal with them. I feel like most officers would’ve had him on the ground, with cuffs on his hands. But again, I know nothing about police protocol and what the correct way is to handle that situation.
That’s what happens when cops let they guard down for people who look like them🤷🏽♂️wouldn’t even be able to tell were they friends or rivals. Edit before you race baiting clowns start I’m talking about the massive frat boy energy being displayed. I know it’s hard for some of you to think further than race so I figured I’d say this before clowns start complaining due to assumptions.
The composure of the injured officer is absolutely astounding. He kept cool, relocated came back and neutralized the threat. I cant believe how amazing some officers are. God bless you
You got to be kidding. The only phenomenal shooting was done with the AR15. They should just let the buzzards clean up the dead pigs and have a viking warrior funeral for the brother.
Who was doing all the yelling at the end? I'm assuming they brother who made the call is charged with conspiracy to commit murder ... really really chaotic to piece together those last 2 minutes.
@rubydacherry3308 Bristol is not that big.. 60k residents.. but a lot of urban environment and close quarters housing developments. Average size smaller city in CT.
You can tell he was the saddest most insecure type of dude all the sick weird stuff he said throughout the encounter, I love how he talked about making a lot of money more than a Bristol officer and yet he lives at home and looks like a peasant
Yeah I had no idea what the cops were doing. no sobriety test, no search of their bodies, no search of the cab or truck, no arrests for driving while intoxicated or disorderly conduct or fighting in public. absolutely ridiculous and criminally irresponsible. Could have arrested him for threatening a police officer.
This is the ODDEST traffic stop out of hundreds I've viewed on RUclips. Him and the cop were engaging like it was a high school argument, then they start smiling and laughing with each other? There HAS to be history between the officer and Nick.

Ngl the entire time you can tell he really hated the fucking guy still. The cop just kept trying to fuck with him and then backpedal out of responsibility. Even after pushing him he the goes for the hug and the guy says he wants to hurt him so fucking bad and to not touch him
That first cop, instead of de-escalating the situation, he made it worse. He pushed him on his ass and kept the pressure. When the shift changed those police officers had no clue what they were walking into. I hope that first cop is no longer on the force.
Well, to be graphic. The 2 other officers were behind him and were shields for the officer that survived. Given that the ambush was from behind not the front
And it reproduced 3x. One of the degenerate cops had a pregnant, unemployable sow at home with yet another Medicaid baby. Everything here is a travesty.

@@BJtheMountaineerguy lol why are you crying over someone referencing something that happened in the video? That's literally every comment on every video
The officers from the stop were at fault for causing his fellow officers to die, terrible policing. It seems the killer was already looking for Officer Hamzy in the beginning, he already had a fixation with him or likely knew him personally or even possibly always had a problem with him. Poor officers man, those other officers needed to be fired from their jobs. The caller, which was also the driver, should’ve arrested for a DWI, and the likelihood of the killer setting up an ambush would’ve been far less optional to happen since the outcome of the stop would’ve been different if the officers did there job.
You feel like you know this guys entire life from watching this video. Bully in high school, family fuck up, still lives at home, bar fights, etc. Anyone in a small town knows these types. That cop hit a nerve when he said his family wasn’t proud of him and implied his boss would fire him for getting the truck impounded for 48 hours.
Even in big towns this happens. We had 3 brothers who were a few years older than me who bullied everyone. As elementary school kids we lived in fear of them riding bikes through the neighborhood. Now that they’re older men they apologized and felt bad for their behavior. Watching this it reminded me of them.
This right here ladies and gentlemen is an example of white privilege. White privilege is why two Bristol police officers who had nothing to do with this clusterfvck of a traffic stop are deceased. Had they done their jobs and made an arrest, they would probably still be here. That's not even taking into account all the verbal threats being made.
You left out an important detail that gives a window into his state of mind. The shooter was saying aren't you proud of me over the dead cops while shooting them. F-ing crazy story, man.
Perhaps if the police had not followed them since the fight was over, nobody was hurt and the other party did not wanna press charges. Cops got cops killed here because they think they rule over us.
@NandorTheRelentless76 a lot of horrific events are from people suffering and are a ticking time bomb. His mind was just very weak and sadly it came to this.
In no way can anyone say they possibly thought that person would later call and ambush the cops. We all saw the bodycams, would you have any idea that would possibly happen?
This guy is a complete loser, during the traffic stop he called the cops gay and made fun of them, But if you read the incident report they found on this phone that he downloaded grinder multiple times and he was severely broke even though he was claiming that he had had a good job and made a lot of money, also he claimed to be veteran even though he got rejected by the military without even going to basic. Dude was constantly talking about how other people were gay and he had a great life and tons of money, but THE DAY BEFORE THE SHOOTING COPS FOUND TEXTS ON HIS PHONE OF HIM SETTING UP A GAY DATE WITH A MAN also he was months past due on multiple debts, etc. Total loser
@@MATSKI888 and I think he suffered from sexual confusion and was angry at himself because he was gay making constant comments to the cops in the beginning about homosexual acts!
That's the problem, a lot of us are talking like that while describing innocuous things or semi lucrative business. Our language was ruined by something, I wonder what it was...
Nope. The brother is not the one who made the phone call. It was the shooter himself who made it. Or are you saying the brother should have called the cops as well, from his own phone, to warn them? If so, that’s a weak case cuz he could EASILY say 1) he wasn’t aware of the call to cops or 2) he was aware, but he was held captive and his own life was threatened. Looking at the size difference and the guns the brother had no jury on the planet would find, beyond any reasonable doubt, that he was definitely conspirator (as opposed to simply being held captive, or not even knowing the cops were on the way in the first place)
@@chriscooper7642it wasn’t the brother that called. It was the suspect (nick) himself who called and lied saying Nathan was being aggressive with him. He did so to lure the cops there. The shooter and caller are the same person
The problem was the officers on the initial traffic stop allowed the suspects to control the situation. When the cop told the suspect to sit back in the car and he refused, they allowed him to decide where to stand and then the silliness ensued. They lost control right at that moment.
That shit never would have happened if the brothers were black, cops would have arrested them immediately and got a search warrant for their house. But because they were white, they let their mom come get them and just towed their car while they screamed and yelled at the officers.
Wow, this is one of the first times bodycam footage has genuinely shocked me. Hearing the constant gunfire and the screams. Lurato definitely knew both of his partners were dead and still was able to keep some composure. If you're reading this comment just say a prayer for him, you know he's reliving this memory every single night as he sleeps.
Not everybody gets PTSD. It depends on if his flight or flight reflex was triggered, and he looks more like he fell back to training, not fight or flight. He is more likely mourning the loss of his co-workers and having survivals guilt.
i would have to guess the cops fucked with buddy more then just the one time,, What they were doing is bullying him on the stop and clearly he been bullied one to many times and had it

i cannot believe that officer made it out of the ambush zone flanked around and single shot this dude in the dome, thats the most insane thing ive seen in a long time
How the fuck were these guys not detained from the start? This is the most insane drunk stop I’ve ever seen in my life. The police officers agitating the situation is definitely not helping. Extremely sad none the less.
Yeah I didn’t understand that at all. I originally assumed they were friends but was stunned that they didn’t know each other. They really shouldn’t have let him leave that stop. Dude was a total, erratic loose cannon.
From what I can gather it wasnt even a dui stop they only charged him with driving on suspended license when the brother who was driving stumbled forward saying "im sober" they just go "yeah your sober" while he was clearly drunk ,and then go back to instigating the drunk agitated guy that wasnt even driving. He knows all the cops by name and they clearly have history. Complete circus.
White privilege during police interaction. The cops saw These guys as their kinfolks who just happened to have had a little too much to drink. No need to pat search them. not remotely interested in searching their vehicle. And they don't even consider putting them in handcuffs! Even as the guy is towering over the cops, being belligerent and making threats. And being arrested is out of the question!! these steps would have taken place immediately if the suspects were darker complexioned. So this is not the first time I've seen scenarios like this... and with similar outcomes. And all I do is sit back in awe of the amazing racial bias in favor of one group, who then rewards the cops for the preferential treatment...with bullets😂😂 i can't stop smiling. FTP
brutcher died from a self inflicted gun shot. they spun this hollyweird narrative to create a hero. that police department is corrupt with ties to organized crime
As a black man it’s crazy what these guys got a away with in the beginning of the stop. Walking around hugging each other. Pushed by cop and he wasn’t pounced on for assaulting a cop. They got to walk back to the truck passenger door without being told not to re enter the car. Both are obviously intoxicated with no sobriety test done etc. CRAZY!
I just posted something like that I said it all boils down to community the officer's were to lax with them we on the other hand would've been in cuffs from the start while the sorted things out.

I’m in complete disbelief on how the first contact was handled. Zero officer safety and no control whatsoever. They both should’ve been arrested. The driver for DWI and the other one for public intoxication.
Truly shocking they let the situation escalate like that without establishing any sort if control or order. At least separate these two idiots who are clearly feeding off one another. Never seen anything like that

the weight of the question "where's officer hamzy tonight?" asked by Brutcher at the traffic stop is astronomically unsettling considering Hamzy was one of two responding officers murdered hours later.
I’m from Bristol. Bristol is one of those towns where everyone knows each other. Brutcher knew Alex Hamzy. They graduated Bristol Central High School the same year. One could argue "I want to hurt you... but Im not going to". Like when youre on a diet and you say "man I really want ice cream".. that doesn't mean you're going to get ice cream, just means you want to... I'm a free speech absolutist, but a threat is a direct claim to action, and goes past speech, this is the problem we no longer treat declarations (threats) as actual actions any more, all starts at home of the parent making a claim then not following through with it.

Description:
Bristol, Connecticut - On October 12, 2022, sometime around 7:30 p.m., 35-year-old Nicholas Brutcher and his brother,Nathan Brutcher, left their parents’ house and went to Bleachers Bar located at 300 Middle Street, Bristol.
