Today I talk about the incredible Pure Fidelity Harmony Turntable. I assemble it and then tell you what it sounds like with the Stratos Cartridge that Pure Fidelity makes for it.
This is an heirloom quality table, and one that will last you a lifetime and then some. If you are ready for your last table, take a look at this!
Enjoy!

I already have my last turntable, a 1980 Akai direct drive
I have had mine for 8 months now. Wonderful table and cart. A real upgrade from my former VPI TNT. A real music maker.
This is a dream Cartridge, like this fine and beautiful turntable. Thanks for your honest evaluations that are always welcome and very important. Best wishes !
Pure Fidelity - this is a piece of art! Well done John Stratton!
Love that you are reviewing turntables now. DACs are great but I feel like TTs are just more interesting to look at and hear about given their hands on nature and tactile form.
Gorgeous turntable.
Great review.
I have recently taken stewardship of an hierloom quality table: a circa 1982 Win Labs SDC-10 with Souther Linear SLA-3 linear tracking tonearm.
It was so far beyond my Rega P6/Ania that my wife insisted we keep the Win.
I love the look of your new heirloom table. Stunning design, and fantastic sound, based on your sense of things.
Enjoy!!!!!
Great review as always! Thank you!
If an aluminum platter rings why are use an aluminum base?
Also, I don’t understand why expensive turntables don’t come with a lifting mechanism at the end of the record. I know you can buy them, but it would be nice to have it as part of the table, done by the manufacturer.
Did I miss the part where the as tested price is mentioned? I only heard the price of the cartridge , and only if it were a separate purchase. While I enjoyed going through the product, without a dollar amount it is hard to conceptualize the value of the merchandise. I do tend to favor a jeweled bearing, although my own particular forever turntable uses a recirculating oil bath platter bearing. Platter bearings are so critically important to the sound , yet are sometimes overlooked because they are hidden away and not flashy ,
Beautiful looking unit. Thx!
Love the table and the Moody Blues
Thanks for review
That’s a beautifully crafted turntable.
Very nice description of this table.
Thank you! Cheers!
Wow looks very nice! 👍🏻
Time to start saving up 😮💨
Now I want one. Nice home too.
Awsome I want that cartridge for my Technics.sl1200g.
what a beauty!!
Picking mine up today.
Looks great❤
I’m a Rega Man, but this is great looking deck!
Same here. Love my p6.
Nice vid, thanks.
Audio eye candy.... stunning. If the Universe has a financial windfall coming my way this turntable
is first in the door. You mentioned the Moody Blues... interesting. Got to meet them, Hayward was/is
just a lovely person. Anyways, I have 11 of their early (70s/early 80s) albums. Bought them in England.
9 for sure never been played... all in absolute mint condition with a wee bit of wear on the sleeves.
No plastic because English record shops did not sell albums with any plastic. Love to sell them but
no idea how that works. Perhaps this is inappropriate .. if so, sorry.
Nice Table!
I run 2 tonearms on my Hans turntable. One is Origin Live and the other SME V. I use SoundSmith cart on my SME. I've owned Rega/Clear Audio and other but this set up I now have is hard to beat with the SME / SoundSmith combination.
I’ve been following this turntable for about a year now. I’m presently the owner of a VPI Prime. I’m seriously interested and intrigued by the Harmony’s isolation claims. Also curious if it’s a significant jump in sonics vs the Prime, given its jump in price. Thanks for the review!
Really would like to get Stratos cartridge. Wow!
iMO to pay $15,885.00 for any turntable is total over kill
Agreed
I am to start saving!
Goldman used to make a methacrylate platter mat and matching record weight. I have been using them with my SOTA Sapphire Turntable for over 30 years and my vinyl records sound incredibly musical with my Graham arm and Lyra cartridge.
Goldman Sachs ?
Nice!
Did I miss how much that beauty costs?
It's a beautiful object but I think that at this price level, we have a choice, if only at the level of the arm. I have a Rega RP8, and I find that it has an unbeatable SQ/price ratio. It's always the same, in Hifi, to have a little better, you have to spend a lot, a lot more, at least three times the price of my RP8, which I will never do, I need my car too much. it makes you dream, like a Leica Monochrom, so I'm content with my M7 which is going very well.
I just picked up the harmony table and tonearm you have last fall (with a Kiseki PH) and I was blown away! I had a clearaudio concept, and always had vibration feedback from my subs, and while it’s a nice turntable I was just amazed how much they isolation plate improves the quality, like lowers the sound floor?
It is for sure the heart of my system…but unfortunately exposed other weaknesses in my other equipment :-/ does it ever end
Shouldn't the VTA be measured with the arm leveled when a record is placed on the platter?
Are the cables on the arm cryogenic treated ?. It's very important. The turntable has no noise, but the vinyl has plenty.
I love Moody Blues, since my 16th birthday and now I am pensioner.
Nice review. Background music a bit loud though.
No, but I'm ready (and still waiting) for my first flat record! :0)
What is the length of the arm?
ola qual o diametro do dico que vai as correias
Shouldn't the arm be level with the surface of the record instead of the platter?
Why is there no dust cover?
We acquired our Pro-ject RPM 10 Carbon WITH a package that included the Sumiko Blackbird HO cartridge. At the time it had an MSRP of $3,500. Now the same table, with the Sumiko Starling, retails for $6,500! Imagine my surprise only because we are in the process of evaluating items for insurance at full replacement value. We would not entertain the purchase of this wonderful table at the current price. I simply do not understand the rationale for the price increase. Parts cost? I will be entering daily for the Pure Fidelity MC cart giveaway!
Why do I need an isolation platform if my floor is solid ?
yup... solid floors don’t have any resonant frequencies...
Who has floors made of liquids or gases?
I have to go se mi Doktor ❤😂😂
Papa Smurf!!!
LOL
"No vibration getting to the needle":
No way does the base eliminate airborne vibrations that obviously effect the stylus nor can any base eliminate skipping from imperfections on the vinyl.
Correct way to state the benefit of a heavy base would be the weight can aid in lessening vibrations from below the table interfering with playback.
All the best.
I don’t know about the vibration in the needle, but I had big vibration feedback from my subs and low frequency filters did not help. I tried it all…suspending the turntable, fastening to wall, isolating block of wood…
This turntable with the base fixed it all. :-)
I have a
Really small room and a JL 10” Fathom
Reba p10 blows this away, blows it away do a comparison a bit, and you’ll definitely hear a difference positive guaranteed Regge Peyton there, top-of-the-line
C'mon... !
Get a grip mate.
The Rega tables including the RP-10 are…. Wait the comment thing said be nice.
Nice deck but needs a dust cover .
Brass plater has the best sound, but it's expensive!
If you ever want to sell the Aavik U-150, let me know.
these are the comments you pay for
There are half million dollar turntables that are the company's base model.
My last turntable was in 1984 and I don't want another one thank you very much 😏
Do you stream or CD? Thank you
The turntable does not make (sic) "zero noise". It has measurable Wow & Flutter.
Don't be a shrill!!
So expensive and no auto lift/stop😅
Too expensive
et SET er a
Done with this overpriced stuff. The diminished returns kick in about 3k ago.
"Aircraft" or "military" grade aluminum doesn't mean anything, aluminum is aluminum.
Ha that’s funny. There are many, many different grades of aluminum and metals that affect how they are cut, welded, molded and used for all types of industries.
Typical end use applications of Aluminum Grades:
Alloy 1100 - Metal Spinning and General Fabrication
Alloy 2011 - General Machining
Alloy 2024 - Aerospace Applications
Alloy 3003 - Food & Chemical Equipment - General Fabrication
Alloy 5052 - Marine Applications - General Fabrication
Alloy 6061 - Structural Applications - General Fabrication
Alloy 6063 - Architectural Applications
Alloy 7075 - Aerospace Applications
@@donsimpsonshead8809 Shave to agree, unless the grade is specified " aircraft " doesn't mean anything, especially in this non critical application, Is a coke can put about an air liner now aircraft aluminum? I can tolerate a little hype , being used to it, but I also believe questioning hype is valid.
@@donsimpsonshead8809 nice burn😅
Al loo min yum. Repeat. Al loo min yum. Aluminium 😅
That is the proper pronunciation of Element 13@@timleelim9930 From Oz
"Airforce grade" aluminium is VERY detrimental to nature in the way it has to be produced. So, for all the 'environment' lovers out there, NO ALUMINIUM, please!
I’m assuming by aircraft grade he means 2024-T3 (which is heat treated). I’m assuming it’s clear coated, since 6061 has better corrosion resistance, Well that should be coated/anodized too
Cover? Dust kills
