Compressor Surge Problem Concept

Surge problem occurs in the centrifugal/Turbo compressor, when compressor flow is reduced by throttling suction inlet valve. During surge back flow at the compressor happens and can causes severe damage to compressor shaft and impeller blades. Therefore, Its necessary for a Mechanical / Process Design Engineer to understand the surge phenomenon and its remedy and cause of surge.
