Classic Game Room reviews the Sega Saturn racing wheel for driving games on the Sega Saturn. Ten years ago, better days for the Classic Game Room. But Mark Bussler is a survivor and he’s still around, so kudos for his persistence.
And kudos for the Saturn racing wheel, it really does transform many driving games on the system.
I went for the Saturn and my brother went for the ps1, we spent more time playing multiplayer games on the Saturn though. Games like virtual cop 1&2 with 2 light guns was awesome, Guardian Hero's and Xmen vs Streetfighter. Great console with some great games, deserved to do better.
Love the shit out of this thing, scored out for about $15 a few months ago off eBay. Never been that big into racing games in general, but this things makes it so much more enjoyable.
I'm the only person on the planet who prefers the Sega Saturn over the Playstation.

whenever i watch gameplays of psx/saturn games, i get really nostalgic because the leap from 16 to 32 bit really improved a lot of things and it was just a great time in my life.

You're not the only one... The Saturn was a full time treasure hunt for me during it's original run. Tracking down imports(Radiant Silvergun, Capcom Fighters)... Finding games I knew had a low release quantity (Panzer Dragoon Saga, Burning Rangers).. I hold my Saturn collection closest to my Gamer heart.. Loved having epic competitions with my friends in Decathlete and Winter Heat. People who hated on the Saturn just never played one...

You can play Hang On GP 95 with the 3D controller as well and its way better than the normal controller.

Got my Saturn racing wheel for $15 at play n trade. It was sitting in the darkest corner of the store for like 3 months, and one day I walked in and said ok I'm gonna buy this damn thing, and haven't regretted it since.
Playing "Sega Rally Championship" & "The Need For Speed" with that wheel was excellent. I still have mine :)

I don't care what Mark is review-ing , his voice and personality is the only thing that makes me watch! If dragons would exist , Mark would be a Dragonborn! His voice could soothe a ragin dragon!!!

I can confirm from playing Hang-On GP that the steering wheel makes it a completely different game.

I use to play this game so frackin much at the universty 16n mall in Tampa,FL in the 1990's around 1992-1995 and at the skating rink off of Nebraska ave. in Tampa,fl. It was call skate odessy back in the days. I also played the hell out of Killer Instinct - My favorite's are Jago, Thunder, Cinder, and Spinal oh and also SabreWolf. I also Loved Mortal Kombat 1-3. And Street fight Vs Capcom which came later.

playing "Out Run" with the racing wheel feels almost like playing the arcade-machine.
I just noticed the racing wheel has the same shape as the original Japanese Saturn controller. I know I'm dumb for just now realizing it.

Interesting trivia bit: this wheel was originally designed for the Genesis to complement Virtua Racing, and I believe the code for an analog wheel is still hiding in the game but was obviously never used... man, if only, cuz V.R. on the Genesis with a real wheel would have been a freaking revelation back then instead of just a polygonal novelty.
It definitely looks like something that anyone could’ve used for some of the F-ZERO Games, including F-ZERO X on N64.
I actually had the chance to buy one of these back in the day but never did (regret ).

Daytona don't look so bad either, better than the rep it has, without factoring in the limitations of the saturn and early 3D console efforts.

I only bought the Saturn years afterwards and had to search quite hard to obtain many of the rarer titles. Since i am from Europe i had to track down titles from both Japan and the US. But the more i play the Saturn the more impressed i find myself. Saturn bomberman, Nights into Dreams, Magic Knights Rayearth, the Panzer Dragoon series, everything capcom made, there is just no end to the great titles. For me it beats the playstation hands down in terms of fun.

There are hundreds of them from the classic Mad Catz MC1 & Interact V3, to the cheap wheels from today. If you're looking for one, make sure it has the NeGcon mode, otherwise it will suck with PSX games. Will also work with a few PS2 games.

I bought this thing because it looked last me kits wheel from knight rider and never used since Sega did not put out many of there arcade rqcing games for the Saturn. I played more racing games on my ps1 and n64 than Saturn.

It works great for Sega Touring Car too, as that game was very sensitive with the D-pad
try eating a bowl of fruit loops while watching CGR, they totally go together!

My friend had a Saturn, might still have it. But I don't know much people who even own any sega console.! I think im the only one in my town who owns a Dreamcast still

You should review Manx TT Superbike for the Saturn and see if it supports the Sega Saturn Racing Wheel.
You dont need to put it on your coffee table..the base is designed so you can set it between your legs when seated, and hold it steady under your thighs.
It's funny playing a motorcycle game with a steering wheel, and also you have to basically steer in the opposite direction to turn on a bike.
Good thing I didn't have the Saturn wheel back in 95, because I would never have left the house.

I have one of these, but my Saturn no longer works unfortunately :( You can only see half of the screen when playing games, I don't know what's happened to it, it was fine one day then like that the next.
i got my saturn wheel in 1996 its really good but i never used it as much as i should have done

Funny I have one and thought it would make the racing games even worse to play. It is an obvious improvement over the D-pad.

Was I the only one that expected Mark to crash at the end of the video, despite the use of the steering wheel that he had preached made the controls better :) I just expected carnage and Game Over there for some reason... instead of some cool, uneventful driving :)
