You have to give them some credit for being so ballsy tho, they straight up pretty much removed all noteworthy and classic characters and added an entire new roster, truly a shot in the dark.

I liked it a lot back in the day because the new characters were so badass and Raiden's removal were part of the plot. By then, producers weren't afraid to try new things, like in MK3 and SF3. It's simply unthinkable nowadays.
That's the thing about MK3: people criticise it for having unremarkable environments because they basically look like ordinary locations. It doesn't change the fact that they look absolutely gorgeous, even now.

By the time UMK3 was out, however, the game no longer allowed you to use the blades after the dash and his combo did only a fraction of the damage. I read that the developers did that intentionally to balance out the existing fighters with the then-new fighters. Great memories!
@3:47 when you knock them in the pit and when getting crushed by the spikes they suddenly have 20 arms and legs... I always used to laugh when doing Stryker’s bomb fatality and would see 3 or 4 legs on the ground. I love this game and is the best MK in my opinion! The first two were great too but this one had a totally different feel to it.

In mk 1 it's mandatory the player fight through 11 opponent's to reach the final battle In MK3 on master difficulty you must battle through 11 opponent's to reach the final battle so I assume mortal Kombat 1 in terms of the ladder climb is the equivalent to that of master difficulty from mk3
It seemed like every time I played as Kabal or fought Kabal I ended up fighting on The Graveyard arena... it's like MK 3 had that arena specifically for Kabal lol
You almost master the ultimate KABAL KOMBO it should go a bit like ROUND HOUSE KICK,SPIN SPECIAL.BUZZSAW.LK,LK,HK,HK,LP,LP, UPPER CUT, JUMP & kick & ENERGY BLAST as soon as you land SPIN SPECIAL,REPEAT.I used to surprise my buddies with THAT since none if THEM could pull it off,took a lot of practice to master those combos...all the recent games all cool and all..but that ORIGINAL TRILOGY, man that was the sh*t,at one point I had all THREE on SEGA GENESIS...THOSE WERE THE DAYS...GOOD LUCK.

Kabal mowed thru Shao Kahn like he was nobody.
Kabal was hands down my favorite... That 10 hit combo was killer! That spin dash could you ANY time!!
Only problem was, if your opponent blocked it, you were exposed and ready to be uppercuted for about 3 seconds!
