in a pre match interview Marnus talked about replication what Pujara did on previous tours ... presenting dead bat , leaving balls , tiring out the bowlers , taking some body blows but I guess he forgot one small thing... that is scoring runs 😂
I can bet u with my life Australia would never be 59/7 if Rohit Sharma was the captain. Only after Bumrah spell he would have kept long on & long off giving easy singles. Ek spell Washi ka aa chuka hota & Australia would be 100/3 at stumps
This shows how worthless the batting in cricket is. No reverse swing in ODIs, field restrictions, broader bats made the batsmen weak. No one has patience, nobody wants to grind. Test cricket is not dying, Test cricketers are.
Yeah, the intent to grind on the pitch has been vanishing quite rapidly. Especially with global leagues happening all around the globe. The run scoring in shorter format is becoming easier by each passing day , thus they find it extremely difficult to even trust their defensive ability in the purest format of cricket (which basically has faded away).
Letting Marnus Labuschagne survive on 0 turned out to be a blessing in disguise for India. His time at the crease disrupted Australia’s momentum, slowed down the scoring rate, and gave Indian bowlers the chance to settle into their rhythm. As wickets began to fall at the other end, Labuschagne’s innings ended up costing just 2 runs..a small price to pay for regaining control...
Plus it didn't give any future confidence to.marnus that if you stay long in the middle you can gain something .. Bowlers were relentless... blessing in disguise Indeed
If only we could live life in hindsight. Be real! A drop catch is a drop catch! And such a dolly, gosh! Vk holds record for most number of drop catches by an Indian across formats since 2019. This series should be a last dance. Leave cricket before cricket leaves you mate!
Yes it paid off in favour of India but you never know what could have happened in the next ball think that point too minutely as he absorbed so many deliveries which could have changed the fate of the match quite opposite to the direction
Absolutely spot on observation by Gilly. Test cricket has suffered due to T20 mindset or probably technique. We don't see individual double hundreds, or 500+ team scores that often. That too when we don't have the ghastly fast bowlers and crafty spinners even pitches are not that hostile.
I think one thing to learn from today's batting performance for India is that our Indian player should play their natural game, not too defensive, must not miss the bad deliveries and punish their mistakes. Because runs have to come from somewhere. They're leaving the good deliveries and its fine but they were also missed the bad deliveries too especially one of those deliveries going in leg side or full length deliveries outside off stump. Any delivery which is not targetting the stumps or on full length, they should go for it. It's better to take chances on such deliveries rather than playing shot out of desperation after too many dot balls & throwing away your wicket eventually. Also, this type of batting will also push Australian bowlers on backfoot and ruin their line and length.
For K L Rahul verdict, one key point is whether bat also hit the pad....if so then there should have been two spikes....if there is no two spikes then it is not 100% certainty to declare Rahul caught behind.
Ashwin was never in reckoning to be picked forget dropping 😅 Enough of BKL now, time to blood some youngsters like Padikkal, Sudarshan, Easwaran 🔥🔥. They may fail, but they will fight unlike COWARD BKL😂😂
17 wickets in a single day at Perth is astonishing... But if the same thing happens on the subcontinent tracks, it's a disaster.. the cricketing world starts speaking about poor pitches curated to suit home teams..... Reality is that, the batters have lost the art of staying on the pitch and capitalizing when the bowlers are tired....
The art of batsmanship is dead in the game of cricket. Useless T20 stuff is the sole reason for this. The technical deficiencies and lack of temperament in today's batsmen is so glaring. If the ball swings a bit, seams a bit, spins a bit, slight bit of variable bounce, etc today's batsmen just can't bat. Just flat wicket bullies. The art of leaving balls outside off stump, getting beside the line of the ball, playing the ball under the eyes, playing the ball in the 'V' etc have all died.
GILLY SPEAKING TRUTH ❤ - In such challenging conditions - i think Test cricket will/could not last for 4/5 days........ Because now batsmans are more of aggressive in most formats & the pitches are also friendly to them and at the same time bowlers are making their hard yards & shaping their weapons in order to match in this batters world........🧐And which helps them to be brutal in these type of wickets........ ✨
When 17 wickets fall in one day in India, then all these SENA country people have just one line to say, Pitch is bad, Pitch is doctored, etc etc Now nobody will question about Pitch.
This pitch was no where dangerous , enough for bowlers to extract side movement and bounce but if batsman is in they can score too as we saw debutant cashed in and scored 41 ..
It’s a 2nd innings shootout now. Australia will come hard bowling in the second innings and look to blow India the same way India did it to them. Can the top 4 of India, Rahul- Kohli in particular can get one partnership at the top? That will decide the match. The pitch will have pace and bounce throughout and chasing anything over 200 will be very tough considering how Bumrah and company are bowling.
Hey Guys , Rahul was given NOT Out by the on field umpire and Given out by the third umpire - Richard Illingworth …so he didn’t have to overturn the on field decision as you experts were talking about ….but he did in a sense overturn / gave the decision of OUT without conclusive evidence.
Very good post game analysis by Gilly. I could feel the Indian batters were playing the Australian quicks better than vice versa. Though its too early to say anything a lot will depend on the second innings performance of the Indian Batsmen. Hope they post a good total and not let the bowlers down. Both teams hv Batsmen with big reputstions but with little or no returns. Can see a couple of batsmen hanging up their boots after this series.
Come on harsha! Stop being an apologist for the aussies. The aussies very well knew what they were gonna dish up in terms of the pitch. The pitch was doctored deliberately with the plan to blow away india which did happen but their batting looked even worse!
Just wanna ask if any Aussie fan is present here - How irritated were you guys watching Marnus bat? I mean we got some aesthetic pleasure watching him score 2 off 52 balls😅
This is not at all a bad pitch. See off the new ball and batting is easier as evidenced by Pant and Reddy. Australia need to hang on in tomorrow's morning session and cut the deficit. We might just get a second innings shootout. Enthralling stuff.
the K L Rahul decision may have been contentious but the decisions given by the 3rd umpire in cricket is a lot better than those given by VAR in football.
Where was the hotspot technology for KL Rahul? I remember it seeing from 20 odd years ago. Forget the hotspot, they did not even show more replays. Seems fishy broadcasting.
Infia is going directly proportional to white ball cricket the way West Indies cricket had been going through off late which is not a good sign in fact india should have different players solely in different format ,in odi they can experiment but not in test cricket
We are living in an era of pathetic cricket. By-product of T20 or probably we are witnessing the end of textbook batting aka defensive batting. Bowlers on the other hand developed cache of skills to get batters entangled and eventually getting them out. Either you smack your way out of this or fall to a stupid shot.
after watching cricket in sub continent, this wicket is brilliant. Pace Bounce, Sideways movement but you can see if the teams manage to get through the first 20 overs , which is clearly very difficult, there are some runs there. 2nd innings will be fascinating. 250 will be a great effort. But again, great to watch
If bowler gets wicket from fast bowling means its a good pitch, if bowler gets wicket from spin bowling means pitch is doctored. Test cricket means one has to be tested in all conditions be it spin friendly or pace/bounce friendly or swing/seam friendly.
itne failures kisi aur batsman ke hote to abhi tk drop kr diya gya hota . lkn Kohli is our Queen !! nothing against him , I love him but his time is up ! Rahane and Pujara are equally good TEST batsman as he is still they got dropped then why not him ?!
India needs to pick these 3 wickets within 20-25 runs max.. And then the biggest thing is batting in 2nd innings..Hoping for a good batting display by indian team!!
Unfortunately test cricket is going down or decaying in standards. If teams are not able to play long hours and be resilient. Then it’s good bye to Test cricket
Lol wtf are you talking about? You rather watch batsmen score 400 runs every innings and draw the game after 5 days? This is exciting test cricket at it's best, where runs are hard and bowlers are attacking and have a chance every ball. Batters who score in these conditions are true test players. India vs Australia is the best test cricket because it's not just a batsmans game.
well the inability of the batsman to bat sessions out is costing test cricket absolutely This is a poor pitch because to the heap of wickets but batsmen are just flat pitch bullies
Is it only me who feels Harsha started getting little boring and verbose. For example, forcing Gilly's debut conversation into this context , especially how others scored even more runs on his debut is totally unnecessary. You can visibly see Gilly trying to set the context right time and again! I can't believe I am saying this being a huge fan of Harsha since 1999.
He was a part of Sydney 2008 test The worst umpiring in the history of cricket with a clear bias towards one team And he is today commenting on KL's decision like a saint Clear cheating and sold umpires in every aus tour

we are talking about KL Rahul being unlucky.. Nitish was out on 10 but neither aussie reviewed nor Nitish walked out? no talk about morals now since India needed runs??
To overcome howlers only DRS came. But third umpire doing that even after using the technology is unacceptable. Aussie having DRS opinion, they r not confident enough to go for DRS. Here from where moral comes??

One thing I noticed with Virat dropped catch was that he started celebrating the catch before completing it and hence dropped the catch.
Kl rahul looked very good in his short stay at the crease, if not for an unfortunate dismissal we could have seen a klassy innings from him
He is out to be honest
Hang on... A late fight back could be on the cards led by Alex Carey...he seemed to be batting with lots of assurance
He was barely timing anything
I think Carey can be a thorn in the flesh come tomorrow morning
After taking 6 wickets then comes Gilchrist... That was a dream Australian team ever. Love you Gilly ❤️❤️
Finally something to cheer for the Indian test fan. Well bowled India, finish off the remaining 3 wickets quickly tomorrow.

Bumrah you beauty!!
KL Rahul looked most in control among both teams batters he should open in all five matches and dropping Ashwin is a great decision by team management
Yes i think this is perfect team 11 for 1st test and kl should definitely open
