  • Let's take you on another adventure in the Northland. We spent the night at Tokerau Beach Freedom Camp and then made our way to Cape Reinga, the most northern spot in New Zealand. As we explored the area we then made our way to the biggest dunes in New Zealand, felt like we were in the Sahara desert then to the famous 90mile beach were you can drive your car the whole stretch of it!

I have loved all your videos and am sorry to see you leave and move on. Whangarei and Wellington were real treats for me as I'm deeply familiar with both. Please come back one day and shoot another series - and let me know! I'll host you for dinner. Kiwis and internationals alike really appreciate seeing the real NZ through the eyes of genuine travelers like yourselves. But I have the impression Mado doesn't like being called Chicken. Could be wrong but perhaps there's a better pet-name you could develop Glen!

Great video. Funny fact 90 mile beach is actually only 45 miles long. It was originally because of when it was originally mapped with horses they estimated they could so many miles in an hour but didn't take into the softness of the sand for the horses. It also classed as a legal road hence why you can drive on it. Although personally I'm not of people driving on Beach's or though rivers. Also again Glen it's kiwifruit not kiwi

    (a) Ahhh
    (e) e as in egg
    (i) eeeee
    (o) as in in oar without the r ending
    (u) ewww
These are the basic vowel sounds in maori,, m(Ahhhh)(oar) r (eeeee)
    The "r" is rolled.
Then there are some combined vowels sounds like "au" which is "owe" or "Oh", "ei" is "ay", well at least close to that as it depends on dialect but you definitely shouldn't say the "ay" sound when you see the "a" letter in a word that is in maori, same as you shouldn't say "oh" when you see the letter "o"
Pronouncing maori isn't difficult compared to "english" that has bear and bare which are different spellings for the same sound
