    My longest video yet. I decided to take a weekend and tour the county and document all the old sirens that are left in Hamilton County. The majority of these are from the Civil Defense Era from the mid 1950s to the 1970s, some are old fire sirens that haven't been used in ages, and some other sirens used for different threats. All but 2 in this video have been since decommissioned. As most already know the current siren system in the county are mostly ASC T-128s and a handful of various FS 2001 types. the majority of these installed around 2012-14 which replaced the old CD sirens in the area. Due to "laziness" of the service group that installed the current system, a lot of the building mounted sirens in the area still remain along with some pole mounted ones that did not get a direct replacement at that location I.E. On a pole next to the old siren or mounted onto the building where the old siren stood prior. The fate in the remaining sirens are in the hands of the township or municipality they are located in. Which means they'll likely be sticking around until the building gets renovated or demolished that they are mounted on. Once again I apologize for the "unprofessional" filming my computer screen and shots at the aerial locations. I simply don't have the know how to do screen capturing for a better quality image. I had a time just making this video and uploading it lol. I hope you enjoy this 56 Video montage as much as I did driving around and seeing them myself.

    Since this video is going on two years old now, I figured I give an update: To my knowledge all of the sirens shown are still standing with the exception of four which have been removed. Sirens# 20, 25, 44, and 45 on this list are the ones that have been recently removed. #20 Was the SD-10 that was knocked over on the roof of a derelict industrial complex in Roselawn. Current satellite imagery shows the siren gone off the roof completely now. #25 was the Thunderbolt 1000 on roof of the old St Bernard Elementary school. Removed in prep for the building's demolition. #44 was the SD-10 Behind St. Joseph Church in North Bend. Removed sometime last year, #45 was the STL -10 on roof of the Cleves Sheriff's office which was removed no later than two weeks ago. The majority of these siren sites I have not seen since the making of this compilation so I'm just relying on updated satellite imagery. The only other change I've noticed is siren #1, the Model 7 in Terrace Park on the community building is now sporting a fresh black paint job since the building itself was repainted.

    That Sisters of Charity SD-10 was originally supposed to be replaced by the nearby 2001 on top of Mt. St. Joe around 2002, but the vendor who installed the 2001 was supposed to remove it and never did. I think it remained active for a long time after.

    Mariemont technically had 2 CD sirens, the SD-10 on the elementary school and the one in this video, though that is right near the Fairfax border. Fairfax's siren was a Model 5/7 on their municipal building which that nearby T-128 was officially the replacement for.

  • @carexpertandy
    @carexpertandy 2 года назад +1

    The T-128 that replaced the Model 5/7 in Anderson Township was actually installed in the mid 2000s, and old siren still remained active in the system for several years.

    The video of the Cardinal Pacelli Tbolt growling and nothing else was taken in August when they weren't even in school, so I wonder why they still cut the power then. I also wonder about whenever it was activated for severe weather warnings, especially during the school day.

    32:09 It's a 1000T. My elementary school was down the street, Annunciation. We would be out on recess at noon and I remember hearing it on test days. I also heard one time back in the mid 90's when there was a Tornado Warning and we had to go from the cafeteria back over to the school.

  • @carexpertandy

    I think the Kenwood Thunderbolt is a 1000T, I think it was heard in an ambiance video during severe weather that one guy took from Madeira.

    Ah, it didn't occur to me that the SD-10 in Roselawn was knocked over! I just assumed it was removed since I no longer saw it from the highways, but then thought it would be rather strange if it was removed since that building is abandoned and didn't think there was access to the property.

    The 3rd STL-10 was in Sycamore Township. Deerfield Township is in Warren County.

  • @Videogamer52100
    @Videogamer52100 7 месяцев назад

    48:15 This STL was supposedly zapped by lightning and was replaced by the Hurricane which later got replaced by a 2001.

      Thanks, and thanks for the info. I did know about the other Model 5/7 in Fairfax on Germania St. which has since been removed but since the Bistro SD-10 was close enough to Fairfax I just went with that lol. I don't even know why I said Deerfield instead of Sycamore Twp for the 3rd STL location, I didn't even catch that until I uploaded.

    29:19 I recorded this siren back on April 7th, 2010. When I was little, I lived in St. Bernard, and my mom would take my brother and I to the Nu-Maid plant to watch the siren test. My profile picture on the Siren Board was one my mom took during one of the tests when it was on the Nu-Maid plant. When the Nu-Maid Plant closed and was to be torn down, my dad was the Police Chief of St. Bernard at the time and he had to find a location to relocate the siren. When the siren was put on the school, it was only a block away from where I lived. I think the school was chosen because it was centrally located in the city and it was on a hill. I hope the siren is removed before the school is demolished. Also the the St. Bernard police station had the ability to activate the siren in attack mode in case of a chemical spill at P&G or other surrounding factories.
    Great Video! Thanks for linking the updated siren maps to the video. I was trying to count the other day the number of T-128s Green Township has. The map will help a lot.

    18:28 I passed this one yesterday and took a picture. Definitely an old first gen Thunderbolt. It probably had an A1 blower since most of the first gen thunderbolts were installed in the mid 1950's. The blower is inside the fire station to my knowledge.

    The old Elmwood Place Thunderbolt was actually blown over by high winds in 2016. The Siro-Drone only did the 9pm curfew for a few years under their corrupt mayor, and someone who lived in Carthage on said on Nextdoor that they also used it for curfew many years ago. It could've been used for other things as well.

A medium sized U Haul trailer will do for hauling the whole setup. Clayton Werden of Werden Electric may be able to help with removal as well. He serviced the entire old system and installed most of it with his father.

    Awesome video, great job showing each of the sirens! There is a Federal Signal Model 3 (possibly a 5) at 39.075424, -84.609043 which I didn't see on your map. I don't know if this was part of the system at any point, let alone what it was used for. Haven't seen it in person so I don't know if it's still there. Again, very good job with this video!

      Thanks, and wow I've been up and down River Rd numerous times and never even noticed that siren, but then again I never noticed the other SD-10 at the gas pumping station down the road until I mapped the area. I would say its a plant siren since there is an SD-10 practically on the same property a few hundred feet to the West. Thanks for the info ill add it to my map.
