I stim *all* day long and I didn't even know that's what I was doing until this year. (I'm in my 40s.) Tapping my teeth, drumming with my fingers, curling my toes, bouncing my legs, chewing my cheeks. I love rhythm so I thought it was more of a musical thing, but now I realize how much it helps me regulate. Thanks for sharing!
I wish I could stop biting my nails. Its actually not that soothing but I learned to do it because it was more acceptable than the things I wanted to do as a child but was chastised and humiliated for. Now as an adult, I'm relearning how to self sooth. One thing I enjoy, since I work from home, is singing to myself. It's not only creative and soothing, it helps my executive function because I often sing my to-do list. Or sometimes I sing what I'm feeling and it helps regulate my emotions.
Omg I do that too. Sometimes I'll sing things that r basically just how I'm feeling, what I'm mad about for instance lol. Or I'll sing a song that has the vibe I'm feeling
I pluck hairs,,chew fingernails, readjust clothes that fit uncomfortably and move constantly while sitting still. I move my feet inside my shoes and wiggle my body side to side. I walk on the balls of my feet, too, and never associated it with stimming but interacting with the world in a near silent way is so satisfying that I think I could classify it as stimming.
my favorite stim is little jumps or stepping forward and back. my second favorite is shaking my hands. Wearing a wrist band, I shake my hands a lot to shake the bracelet. I like that too.
I have never seen toe walking depicted like you did here, and that is how I have always done it. You always see it shown as being fully up on tip toes, but for me it’s just walking on the balls of my feet with my heels slightly hovering off the ground. I have always been a horrible nail biter too, and it took me a long time to realize it was a stim and that was why I’ve had such a hard time quitting.
Ok lets see my fave ways to stim, a lot of pacing, walking, i wouldn't say it's a fave but it's a common one that i pick my lips, i love to sing, very repetitive, very annoying for others
My favorite stim is to turn my body sideways, with one foot ahead of the other, and gallop through the house, keeping my wrists limp so my hands flop around. I do the galloping part with my kids so it really doesn't look too strange. I don't feel like trying to explain myself why I'm doing that with my hands or why I'm gesturing like I'm casting a spell.
I pick & bite the skin on my thumbs, rock (rocking chairs 😍), bounce my legs, wiggle my toes, hum or make noises, crack my knuckles, play with fidget toys, listen to ASMR…
I tend to rock back ‘n’ forth when I am overstimulated…. I hate it sometimes but it helps.. I am so unaware of it when I do it…. I have been trying to find something to help me with, because out in pick.. is so embarrassing

I'm going to have to try singing my to do lists!

I do this too! I work hybrid and I love days in the office when nobody else is in because then I can sing all day
@@BH-kw8rh yeah I sing at work now and other places but I just work with my brother in law, pretty chill
Ooh I like singing to my kids, just like basic stuff. Set it to a classic tune and you've got a great new song about changing diapers.

Favourite stims - chewing gum, rubbing my feet together and going for walks.
Yes, going for walks is highly addictive

Singing seems to be a pretty common one. Let them be annoyed 😘

Hand flapping, jumping up and down, and verbal outbursts.
I didn't know that my urge to randomly yell or make a weird noise was a stim until like a year ago 😝
@@neurodivergentme I didn’t either until a few years ago also. The more ya know lol
