1:18 That photo is beautiful! I like watching videos like this every now and then to refresh myself. I really appreciate your video! My car is at that point where I need to replace my spark plugs before the coils get damaged.
The 70's really brought out the abbreviations. For the ADR' 27a to pass NOx and leaner AFR for fuel economy = hotter combustion , manufacturer fitted EGRs the cool combustion temperature. ( less oxygen ) but then needed HEI and a larger plug gap to ionize (LIGHT) the lean AFR . Before EFI Holden tried EST, Chrysler ELB and Ford a cross-flow cylinder head. Spark plug "Indexing" is for racing teams with a lot of dyno time . 2 HP is 2 HP. ; )
Thanks for posting this video! I was trying to find out what happens if you use a larger vs. smaller gap on a given spark plug. My car is supposed to use a gap of .044, but the maintenance manual gives a range of just over .039 to about .044 for new plugs. I was wondering if I should go with the .044, or set it at .040, for example. Since the gap gets larger with use, perhaps it makes sense to use a slightly smaller gap when installing new plugs? Again, this was very informative. Thanks!
Hi! Have a 01 maxima, 70k on iridium plugs and the gaps on them increased from recommended. .044 to .05 ...should I regap? Does idel rough. I may just put new ones in since they are a pain to get to the back 3. Thanks buddy!
My subaru legacys spark plug gap spec is 0.039 - 0.043 . . . But all of the ones installed are 0.031- 0.032 . .. I hear him say the smaller the gap the cooler the spark . Not generating enough voltage needed to create that specified heated spark . My wagon has a bit of a miss . I am hoping increasing that gap to spec will solve the issue. Stay tuned
Question for 18psi what should i make my plug gap at stock boost it was 10psi i was runing .028 with 18 psi should i run .024 or .022 because at .026 i still got blowout at wot Thank u godbless🙏
Thanks for your feedback. RUclips have implemented automated captions and playback speed options that you can utilise if you do not like the way I speak.
@@kyushaspeedproblem is that even the captions sometimes don't know what your saying. Since your making education videos maybe you should just slow down when you speak and speak more clearly. Not that hard
Thanks for watching!

But do I NEED to gap the spark plugs? 2006 accord right hand drive, K20a6 engine. I'm doing my first service on it. Just got the car
I also have the car's owner's manual. It says nothing about needing to gap them or specify the gap measurement
I always verify new plug gap before installing. If they are existing plugs pulled from an engine that is running without issue I do not check gap.

Glad to hear it!

Ahh right! So indexing was a thing. Good to know

What gap do you recommend for LPG engines?

Can this make it sputter if you don't Gap them after you put new ones in
It can do particularity of the gap is larger.
Appreciate your explanation. Working on my first engine now. Helpful in building my understanding.
No worries! Glad to have helped.

I trust you because of your accent. You have to know more than my Red White and Blue ass! :P All jokes aside, great explanation.
Good info mate
Cheers!
It’s a bit hard to tell if I’m blabbering on or useful to someone! 😂
"pointing the spark plug" is whats called indexing the plugs. I am only aware they do it on stuff like top fuel engines.
How come they say gap plugs wider for trolling slow
bueno
Questions: How often should plugs be replaced ? How accurate do you really have to be with the gap without getting overly anal ?
Google says every 30k Miles. So almost never for me.

You are very hard to understand! Speak slower!
