    Thank you Matsunaga-san and Kitayama-san for this valuable information! It would take a great deal of research to learn the information found in this video. I did not know about the Yukimi lantern height being preferred at eye level, but it makes sense the way it was explained. If there is a future video, I would like to know about the origins of the figure carved on the sao of the Oribe lantern if Kitayama-san could please explain.

    Another good video, but you never asked Mr Kitayama what you put in the window to light up the lantern and how do you stop the wind blowing the light out? Matsunaga how about a video on the aesthetics and lay out of a Japanese garden?

    I have always been fascinated with japnese gardens and koi ponds. At least here in America, i notice Pagodas around the gardens and always wondered what their purpose was because theu always looked like lanterns but i would never see them on or a place to put a fire. Its interesting to hear that they are indeed used as a source of light and with great purpose. Very fascinating

    This was such an interesting video; I learned a lot about stone lanterns, and I would like to learn more! It would be great if you could make another video, maybe with Saida San showing how they are made! I wonder if Saida San has made any of the lanterns at this place. Is this Ishi-ya near Ryoanji? This place has such a great atmosphere, except for the cars driving by on the busy street 😆 Did he call the stone craftsmen "Ishi daiku"? Thank you for such an informative video!

    Thank you for this interesting video. I appreciated the explanation of context regarding how the various lanterns are used and where they can be used. Like other commenters, I am interested as to how to light these lanterns. Whether you can adapt them to electric or perhaps solar powered sources. I truly appreciated the information on the snow lanterns. I inherited a small one and, given that I live in a snowy climate, I now have a better idea how to make use of it in a garden design.

      You know, in modern times, most lanterns are illuminated by electricity, but I'd love to shoot for something called how to illuminate them with oil lamps, too!

    thank you very much again! it was incredibly interesting video. but too short. i still have many questions:) for example: could you tell more of the details about other types of lanterns. like you did about snow lantern. how to choose a place for it, at what height to put it, what are different parts called and what purpose do they have, what should their size be? also, maybe you could make one or few videos about making lanterns? and one more: what are the pricing? there are so many different lanterns! so, it would be great to know how much some of them can cost? how is the price formed? why one is more expensive than other? (i'm sure it's not only about the size)
    so many questions:)
