Here's the snatch battle between the once world record holder and multiple time European Champion Loredana Toma, and the no.1 weightlifter in the USA Olivia Reeves. While the battle in the clean and jerk wasn't so close, the snatch battle was one to remember.

Reeves will get to legend status pretty soon. She has her whole career in front of her. Simply amazing how rediculously strong she is.
Well it's a shame she'll probably lose to the mustached Chinese man...

I thought this was a bit unfair then took a look at Liao. I think toma got done for stanozolololol back in the day so shows what a unit reeves is to be able to compete whilst under the usada reign of terror

Maybe im dumb but how US team member competes in European Champions?
They were allowed to be guest lifters for the purpose of qualifying to the Olympics. 😊 They were not able to medal, of course.
Reeves has monster genetics. I wish she posted training content.
Absolutely love the work you guys have done to grow the sport. It would be great if you could get coverage from outside Europe and Asia. I know it’s not anywhere near as popular but I’d love to see Oceania championship.
Why is Reeves (US) competing in the euros?
USA was not at pan americans due to location
All of Team US is competing at Europeans due to PanAms being in held in Venezuela citing safety concerns and troubles finding flights.

Toma is without a doubt one of the best ever. Her legacy speaks for itself. But Reeves is the future of the sport and l cannot wait for what she will likely show us at the Olympics and beyond.

Reeves is strong. Ludicrous strength. I can't wait until she becomes a weightlifter. USA is coming. She looks like she's having a ton of fun.

Toma is getting back to old self at least in the snatch but Reeves has a way better clean and jerk.
Toma had done a 121kg snatch (in the training hall at worlds in 2022) but has never successfully done a 140kg clean and jerk in competition.
Reeves on the other hand can open with 140kg. Reeves is on another level IMO.
Toma better hope china doesn't send guifang or else she may not get a medal at the Olympics.
If Liao is healthy, they have no shot at beating her. The only problem China has is that it has too many elite lifters - that would be the only thing that prevents them from sending Liao.
Toma also appears to be struggling to build up her body weight for the 71kg class, mass moves mass particularly in the C&J so sitting a few kg's under isn't helping her

what's USA doing in the euros? have they re-joined the UK or?
I've heard that we (Americans) were told not to go to Venezuela to compete in the Pan Am's because of safety reasons. So U.S athletes were given permission to lift at the Europeans. But they can't receive a medal.
This battle was great, and the snatch session overall was crazy. So much weight switching, and Schweitzer's PB and going three for three. A lot of heavy, made lifts. I wish the jury hadn't taken those two in a row though. And the one thing I can say for the competition as a whole so far is, what the **** is with the crazy long delay in the down signal! Haha. But yeah, this session was fire.
Reeves make it look effortless.
Olivia is incredible! Super strong, focused, and professional. Looking forward to her continued success.

She does great in Europe but on a world level she’s lagging. Olivia squats 220,Toma has never squatted 190kg and that’s quite a difference

Can someone explain to me what happens if an an American wins this European championships? They’re supposed to be at pan American championships so why didn’t they separate the meets if it was too dangerous to travel
They wont medal, but their numbers are still in for Olympic qualification.
Worst international relations move ever. How dumb did Toma feel knowing she got out-lifted in the same comp she’s standing on the podium with gold for.. and that’s not even on her; bet she felt like it was forced and pretty dumb.
