It'd be cool if Rathalos's presence in the Windward Plains would imply each locale has two principle apex monsters that are most advantaged in particular periods. Obviously Rey Dau is the dominant predator of the inclemency, since it's accustomed to the sandstorms and lightning, but Rathalos takes over during the Plenty when the skies are clear and he can maximise his aerial skill. Turf war could take a leaf from Glavenus vs Rathalos where the environment determines who will win.
What a brilliant idea. Kind of like how inclement weather is bad for fly in.
So if they were to bring back lagiacrus it would be the the apex if ulth duna isn't around in the scarlet forest ?
@@Darkwarp1994 Very likely. Of course, it's not a perfect theory, as of course there can be more than two apexes in a locale, but I would imagine for low/high rank at least they'll focus on two, maybe three, for each zone, and each season favours one in particular.
So a muse for your proposition, Uth Duna excels in Downpour, as it can better manipulate the waters to bolster its defence, but Lagiacrus wins in Plenty when it can shock its way through the reduced water column and Uth Duna has less capacity to maintain its defence.

for the big hive area, does anyone remember the Queen Vespoid? I've kinda missed that monster. I love the progression monsters, they were a staple of the older games and it just made the diversity feel awesome to me. This is like the Vespoids and the Vespoid Queen, Congas and the Congalala, Basarios and Gravios etc. I can't wait to see more, and I really hope that they go back to their roots a little with this kind of Ideology. I love what I've seen so far, and with the Apex System, I think it's a great format for these kinds of monsters to come in and Give us that extra bit of life to the environment. NTM we've always needed the giant Hornetaur XD

God the design of that switch axe is absolutely stunning, these guys should be designing costumes and setpieces for blockbuster movies and TV
Man, I'm just so excited for Wilds.
I couldn't get into World, but loved Rise and Wilds seems like a perfect blend of the two.
I have come to a point where I have no positive expectations for any new game.
Monster hunter wilds makes the exception. I am so bloody hyped.

I was just getting back into Monster Hunter Stories 2 this week and the clip at the end was a welcome surprise :3 . Hardly anyone talks about or plays that gem of a game now.

I can’t wait for this game since I’ve been going back and playing through mhrsb and worldborne. I’m really hoping for more insect/spider monsters since they’ve been my favorite monsters in the series.
I hope we can unlock layered armors super early.

Random thought about Wilds: given the "living and breathing world" nature of it, would it be possible that a monster we break parts of and leave alone may come back stronger (as something like a real time version of the Scarred Yian Garuga lore)?

Here's a good question, was Rathalos just there for Monster Hunter or is that the Rath's shared locale? If it's the latter and both can be found in the Windward Plains, this is also our arid locale which would mean Rathian only appears on one map.
Rathian can also appear on a humid locale such as the Scarlet Forest, like the previous games.
Fun fact: Quema in Spanish means burn. So Quematrice is basically a "burning" cocatrice. =)
The purple thing and being ice element would bring to mind something to Akura, however there's nothing crystalline in the gear. So, a variant or another scorpion type, though I'd argue something similar. Azuros or Vespoids/Vespoid queen of sorts would be possible for a return given that is a massive honeycomb/hive. It'll be interesting to see what new/returning monsters get revealed, vs what becomes a surprise as we get to play.
Maybe Uth Duna is the monster for the switch axe? The more flowy armor looks more like the webbing(?) around its head/whiskers.

Uth duna is now called Fatmatsu since you mentionned he looks like Amatsu
the plague doctor armor set could be the from the deathbird from Elden RIng, maybe a collab monster
The switch axe armor and weapon belongs to the bigger version of the little guys that were picking with the Quematrice. Like the Velociprey and Velocidrome.

i find the apexes so far to be cooler than arkveld but we so far also didnt see arkveld ingame, only in cutscenes so lets see how he fights ingame and then we can judge it better.
and we don't know what the apexes or arkveld armor and weapons perhaps the ice swaxe and armor set are a apexes set or higher tier ice locale monster

A lot of edgy "cool" monsters, I hope they introduce some new slow burly guys too, you can't have all zinogres and no basarios for a balanced enviroment (and game).

I prefer u buy it instead to play it on game pass even if it is available since u need to pay $20 each month for game pass ultimate and this game lifetime around 2 year or more maybe with title updates and expansion.
