    Check out this quick video featuring the build of a simple saw till. Saw tills are used to store handsaws, which is an improvement from storing them in a tool box where they can get damaged and the teeth are dulled. This is made from an unknown wood, I think it's Mexican Walnut, or at least that's what I was told.
    Hand Tools I Use:
    Spokeshaves: Lie Nielson Boggs Shave
    Router Plane: Lie Nielson
    Dove Tail Saw: Lie Nielson

    Glad to hear that you and your family a fine, it's pretty bad in Spring Texas I know have family there but nothing compared to the coast line just pure devastation it's going to take so many years before these people are going to be somewhat normal. It's been a long time since I first started watching this channel and it has always inspired me to do my own woodworking projects. I've learned a lot of techniques and helpful tips along the way and I've always admired you for that. I've always wanted to see you build a longboard or a skateboard to see how you would to it. I know it might veer off the vibe of building furniture but a little something different won't hurt. Anyways, love your videos, keep up the amazing work.

    Hey Andy, I live down 30 mins away from Beaumont Texas where we got hit hard. We really appreciate all the support. People have lost so much here it's heart breaking. I would love to make the drive up north and learn from you one day, but I feel like we will be busy rebuilding here for a while. Keep up the awesome channel!

      no name hope you and your neighbors luck with the rebuild. This is why I won't live in an area known for repeated natural disasters. It is too stressful and too expensive. Been in tornados and hurricanes when stationed around for the Army, swore I would never live in those areas voluntarily. Beautiful area until mother nature gets angry. Best of luck.

    Fantastic project, very elegant and simple. Two questions, if you don't mind:
    1) Is that Cosman dovetail saw?
    2) I've found that making wood holders for metal tools such that the metal is always in contact with the wood induces a lot of rust formation on the metal, far more than if they were not in constant contact with wood. Is that your experience too and do you care in this situation?

    • @thomasarussellsr
      @thomasarussellsr 7 лет назад

      Tjalling keep thr blades oiled or waxed, that helps. Also, you could make a till like this and use a piece of PVC pipe or a cheap plastic cutting board from the dollar store for the metal contact points. You can still put the grooves in either.
