Hey.....USA here.........cooking that delicious meal in the cold and rain.......fortunately you do not have to worry about Bears, Bob cats, etc... smelling it and wanting to join in.... i have had Bears walking across my front lawn to attack my bird feeder....stay warm....🐻🐻
Have to say I’m very glad I don’t have to deal with the beard you all have out there. Don’t think I could relax knowing what’s nearby. The meal was nice👍 ATB Gaz
You scottish folk are a breed apart, nice to see monty out and about with you again Gaz, i liked the camp last year were you and monty pitched up on a low level pay pitch with trout fishing close by and The hills above to wander of up to. Stay safe now storm bibet more hitting higher parts of Scotoand than us just classed as up north
Think I remember the camp you’re on about where we were both avoiding the wind. Low level winter camps in the snow are planned this year. Won’t be out camping in this storm. Think sometimes it’s best to stay off the hills when the weather is bad. Low level camp is the best option unless flooding is a problem. Thanks ATB Gaz
There is something mighty cozy about being in a tent with that kind of rain. It looks a lot cozier with that larger vestibule. The packing up in the rain doesn't look too cozy though for sure.
It was a nice relaxed night considering the weather conditions on this trip. The packing up side of the trip was not too bad. Just a little time consuming taking the tent down but I can easily pack everything else inside the tent sheltered. ATB Gaz
Hi folks, Here is my latest video where me and Monty hiked up a very nice Corbett just outside Callendar. I enjoyed having the opportunity to cook in the vestibule again while it was also raining. The wind was around 20 to 30mph throughout the night but it got worse on the descent back to the cars. Hope you enjoy!
Two of my favourite RUclipsrs out enjoying a 'calm' weather camp, well for Scotland I'd say it's pretty much the normal regarding weather like that 😅 ..thanks for sharing Gaz,top viewing 👏🏻
Agree with that Andy, maybe if the wind was stronger but as far as heavy rain on summits go this camp was fairly average to be fair. I’ve had much worse on the channel. Glad you enjoyed watching, ATB Gaz
He is always finding the bad weather. Could not tell you the last time I had a view on a summit with Monty. Low clouds all the time! Thanks for watching, ATB Gaz
Yeah Sam I agree with the Hilleberg tents performance in windy conditions. Seen the Soulo handle wind speeds around 70mph a few years back. I would trust the Nallo gt if I ever got caught out in strong winds. Thanks, ATB Gaz
10mm poles or thicker guy lines or double the main hoop pole. It can take it. Stake it very securely and check them. Good to find your channel. Norwegian Xplorer is friend and I watch Going Solo and Paul messner. and some more.@@GazTheExplorer
I really enjoy your videos. Thank you 🙂 I always enjoy Monty's work too. And it's always fun to see you guys out on a trip together. That's a great tent. Especially if you are stuck inside because of the weather. That little enclosed vestibule would be like having a front porch. I love it ⛺️👍
Thanks Bruner, I think I’ll be using the Nallo for my first snow camp very soon. Hoping to see a good performance! More videos from both of us in the next week. ATB Gaz
@@GazTheExplorer I’ve just been working and enjoying family life mate, I have been fitting in some camping trips to but I’m working on my fitness just now as I want to hit the mountains next year as it’s been to long. Atb Wullie ✊🏻🏴
@@wulliescottishoutdoors I’ve lost a lot of fitness recently but before the weather turned in July I had some really good munro days. I’ve been busy with the work life too. Always wanted to upload weekly on the RUclips channel but unfortunately it’s not always been possible.
Great stuff Gaz 😍👍..That tent is the bizzo mate..Perfect if its pelting down..Plenty of room and a cracking vestibule.Good vlog as well mate..I’ve the same tripod as you mate..It’s absolutely brilliant 😁..Good stuff Gaz Cheers Robert
Cheers Murchie. It was Robin who recommended that tripod when I last camped with him. The vestibule is just a pleasure to camp and cook in. Never thought I would own a bigger tent but glad I finally got one. Makes the difference in the winter. Thanks ATB Gaz
17:55..........never a truer word spoken Gaz. You hate the weight when you are going up, but when you are in the tent you are glad of the pain. You want to have a nice time, weight is the only option. FACT. I was up Ben Chonzie (not the best Munro......but good camping spots) at the weekend, summit canp in my wee lightwave T10, 3100 ft, 35 mph gusting 55, clear skies....stunning! Your Hille looks like its likea fortress, not moving.. Good vid pal, ATB pal.
I have been up Ben Chonzie before in June and I was impressed with the view over Loch Turret. I highly recommend Auchnafree hill for a winter camp. I’m hoping to maybe camp at the Loch Turret hills again this winter. Usually it’s lightweight camping in summer when I’m doing longer walks but in winter carrying the extra weight is definitely worth it for comfort on the longer nights. Thanks for watching ATB Gaz
Great to see you both back out, still love your new tent, that vestibule is awesome. You did well with the cooking on this on Gaz, that looked easy to cook and very tasty. That rain is something else though.
Thanks Susz There are a few meals similar to the dinner I had on this trip that I will be making in the future. The rain was bad at times but I’m sure I’ll get worse conditions throughout the winter. Thanks for watching, ATB Gaz
Nice one Gaz good to see Monty out too. Great bit of cooking little tip just poor the rice into the frying pan you already using save bringing the other one 👍. Love you new tent 👍👍 Cheers Graham
Yeah I could do that but both frying pans fit perfectly in the storage net and don’t weight much or take up much space. Still a really enjoyable meal. Thanks for watching Graham. ATB Gaz
Another good Video Gaz and good to see Monty as well. Tent looks lovely can see why you chose it plenty of space. Both Tents looked really stable and very capable. Keep up the good work and look forward to seeing your next one. 👍🏻🍻
Thanks for your comment Rich. Both tents should handle wind speeds up to 50mph and more. I usually avoid the worst of the strong winds but might put it to the test on a smaller hill one night. Thanks for watching ATB Gaz
I was impressed with my tent on this trip. Have to say it should handle much stronger winds than this trip showed. I should be camping in worse conditions than this throughout the winter. Nice to have some heavy rain though👍😃 ATB Gaz
Cheers lads.... keep on trucking with the cooking Gaz definately improving...tho i mean u served it in a pan u cud of wacked it over the stove for 30 secs/1minute to get some heat in that rice before u mixed it down..maybe a drop or two of olive oil (extra calories) if u do the same recipe in even colder weather ATB
Thanks and yeah I’ve seen some improvement but it is simple meals to be fair. Still coming up with ideas for future camps but it’s just getting a chance to try new meals. Glad people are enjoying the cooking side of the channel. ATB Gaz
Thanks Geoffrey, the vestibule area has made a big difference on my recent camps with this tent. It’s nice to have the extra space for cooking when the weather is poor. ATB Gaz
Good video mate. Love the tent. Do you think you could have 2 chairs set up in the vestibule, with your backs against the sleeping area, without your head touching the roof?
It’s a tight fit Simon and I’ve tried fitting the trekology seat inside the vestibule. I can sit inside it without my head touching the roof if I lean back or forward. If I sit up straight my head touches the roof. You could probably fit 2 seats side by side.
Jezuz wept...... I got genuinely upset watching you trying to put the attachment on the Jetboil...... You need to fold the little pan supports out before you sit it on the burner.... And obviously, switch the bloody burner off! Heh, listening on headphones & my mrs just came in asking what the hell was I shouting at!!! That meal looked worth it though. ATB
I’ve messed up with the attachment before. Sometimes forget to unfold the supports and look like a fool on camera. Could edit it out but where’s the fun in that! Think it’s the first time someone has said in the comments they were shouting at me while watching😂 As you said the meal was worth the mess in the end. ATB Gaz

I hate the Jetboil pan adaptor, it's very finicky to get on and I often have issues with pans being uneven even on level ground.
Must admit I find it annoying too. Might look at another stove but I’m currently getting other gear which will feature on future videos.
me too, agree adapter is tricky
