Hazies changed my beer drinking career. I had had enough of ipas but nothing else was enough. Then hazies came along and changed my life. They may have even saved my life 😢
Martin, you really ought to find a company that makes large whisks, slap your brand on it, and market them to the homebrewing community. That thing is your signature homebrewing tool. Furthermore, great job with the video. Really love the biochemistry and microbiology portion of this video and brew; those are what originally got me interested in brewing!
Was able to get my hands on this, luckily had a lot of homebrew friends in my area to split the batch with. Berkeley hopefully becomes more homebrew friendly. Definitely was an amazing yeast. I think I still prefer Safale S-33 over the tropics for the hazy but still a great yeast.
I would love to try this and see what happens if you only add a bittering hop and let the yeast do the rest of the flavor addition. I wonder how that would come out
Do you have a video or more information on the modifications you did to your kettle lid for doing your mash recirculation? I'm converting some of my equipment to electrical and I've always loved your setup. Another great video, thanks! Loved the whole series of beers you did for 99 beers challenged, watched at least 1/2 those videos and planning on watching the rest as I can!
@@TheHomebrewChallenge Either have I, but I have a pouch ready for the next brew- basically Northern Brewers Cosmic Trident IPA which I will have more Oats and flaked barley (I think) to in order to get that mouth feel and haze b
Very jealous of that special yeast delivery! Do you find your hoses kink at all when hort wort goes through them? That IPA looks fantastic, big fan of your tasting room with different guests!
Great channel Martin, and this beer seems delicious. Quick question about your gear, do you have a link to the spring clamps that you use to hold hoses in the kettle? All the ones that I've tried have either broken or are too hard to open. Thanks!
Martin, I went to Berkeley Yeast's website, but they are only advertising their products for commercial batch sizes. Do they sell home brew batch sizes, or did they send you some for PR? I would love to get a few strains from them.
Great video, Martin. Also that beer looks delicious!
Thanks yeah this one did not get a chance to age
I hope you harvested some of that yeast for future brews!

No shit me too and my savings
Looks wonderful Martin!
Are they considering selling the yeast in smaller that 5bbl batches? Looks like a good beer. Love this style!
I second that!!! I live in the SF Bay Area and would buy the yeast like crazy in all my IPA brews!
I am also interested in this. Don’t really have the space for a 5bbl batch.
The beer looks amazing and I am excited to smell it.
Not currently as far as I know.
@@TheHomebrewChallenge gotcha. $283 is a bit out of my range. Lol

Hahah love that idea.
@@TheHomebrewChallenge I'd buy one!
I would buy that!
@@Leo99929 i'd buy 2
thanks

That really would be interesting. Maybe Cascade bittering and be done. See what happens.
what was the dry hop additions?
Do you have a shop you buy your equipment from? Looking to start brewing as a hobby

Thanks! The lid came with the spray nozzle already installed.
How much water did you start off with ?
What was your OG and FG on this beer
can this yeast be good for a hazy pale ale?
Sounds amazing!!
😋
Is it Ebbegarden Kveik yeast ?
Didn’t see him oxygenate the wort...before he pitched the yeast...isn’t that bad?
yum
What would you recommend instead of calypso?
Sounds like an awesome yeast. Hope they sell to homebrewer a in the future. Thanks for the video. Sláinte
You should tried this yeast without hops. Just for taste and smell. Hops always give loads of aromas and smells.
How did you dry hop? Crack the lid and throw them in? Loose? Time period?
Galaxy is my fav hops so far =)
🙌
Hi big fan! How long do you leave the grain to drain after the mash? Looks a great beer!
Only the time it takes to go from mash temp to boil. 5 mins or so.
Champion.
Any thoughts on how similar this is to Cosmic Punch from Omega?
Not tried that one.

I like my NEIPA's much lighter in color but I bet it's good
*was* good (didn’t last long) 😃
So is this yeast GM? If so, we won't be seeing it in the UK
Any way I can purchase a home brew 5 gal worth of that yeast from you? Hehe looks like their minimum sell is 1bbl which is beyond what I need.
how do you create your own recipes?
Look up what else it out there for the style then use BeerSmith to come up with my own take.
I love NEIPAs with quite an amount of bitterness, compared to the 0 IBU that some people think the style should be like. The beer looks great!
Yeah. The hop bite helped balance out the fruity aromas.
Can you give some info on fermentation? I saw the pressure gauge and spunding valve on the conical. Was it fermented under pressure?
That was another beer (forthcoming vid…). Just kept in the Spike fermenter and added the dry hops when the bubbling slowed.
Quality video look forward to trying that yeast. Quick question what fermenter is it ? As the link doesn't seem to work for me.

My hose to my pump is a little on the long side so do have to watch for kinks no matter the temp.
@@TheHomebrewChallenge Got you, anything specific you do for it? Ive tried installing a string system to keep it unkinked but gets tiring reknotting!

Sorry I don’t. Think these came with a video green screen setup 😀
This looks amazing! Not a huge fan on pineapple beers but this sounds and looks incredible.
Sounds like Lallemand Verdant
Still love to know your water quantity my beer smith app will not give me a correct amount gravity is always well off thanks
I can smell it from here!
Lol, opening up the fermenter to dry hop was quite the aromatic experience
Sounds alot like cosmic punch from Omega yeast... Especially the Thiol production methods
Need to try this.
@@TheHomebrewChallenge make sure to mash hop with one of the Thiol precursor producing hop varietals... Omegas website has a nice white paper 🍻

You had better have harvested that stuff...sounds delicious
Been making wine for a half year now . But beer takes a lot more love.
No cheers at the end!??
Hmm you’re right. Poor form from us!
Super hazy, kinda murky (e.g. darker than a lot of hazy IPA). Looks like another winner! 🍻
🤤
I’m often amazed anyone knows what Guava even tastes like 😂
So disappointed Berkley doesn’t have yeast for home brewers.

Was your excessive focus on the basket hooks a subtle dig at poor emmet over at claw hammer and his forgetfulness ?
Oh not at all. Just trying to think of some way to do that differently after 100 basket hooking sessions. Huge shout out to Emmet while we’re at it!
Second. Lol
First. Lol
