End of an Era: Kianga Handover

- The new Chief of Defense Forces Julius Karangi has officially assumed office at the Defence Forces Headquarters in Nairobi, taking over from General Jeremiah Kianga who had been at the helm of Kenya's disciplined forces for the last 6 years. Retired General Kianga has served in the forces for 40 years and is the 8th general to depart the forces in the traditional style, marked by pulling retired bosses out of the Department of Defense Headquarters aboard a land rover. Judy Kosgey reports.

@mbokadala : in the army seniority is earned...unlike CDF handouts, ability to pass rigorous exams n drills dictates a soldier's upward mobility...not tribal mathematics...no affirmative action....now go get some sleep!

@siasabora Yes I know, how many "other" tribes do you think are also part of the Army? And how many years do you think they've served? How many times has kibaki had an opportunity to select a different person from a different tribe? Again, quit running away from my question, just name. But you don't have to. Most folks know who kibaki and his Mt. Kenya Mafias are: Thieves and tribal chiefs who only care for their own.

The defense force top hierarchy does not represent the face of Kenya. There's no way we can only have defense leaders from 1 tribe, handing over to each other.... in a country that consists of 42 tribes. That the bitter truth folks, call it tribal but the new constitution dictates a blend.
@mbokadala: u narrow army life to 10 yrs? u got selective logic dementia...Kenya Army is 50 yrs old...has had 3 C-in-C...look at the whole picture boy or shut up! ati 10 yrs? 50 yrs!
