Professor Herning, this was great! I was able to follow along mentally with what you were doing. Thanks for sharing. By the way, what is the purpose of the L CI, C, K and other scales?
Warron, I see you saw my other comment. Here is a short summary of basic scale uses:
C/D: multiplication, division, proportions: the "main scales"
A/B: squares and square roots (also sometimes used similarly to C/D)
K: cubes and cube roots
CI: easier multiplication, combined operations (double multiplication, double division), easier reciprocals.
L: logarithms and exponentials with base 10. Used for arbitrary exponents and logs unless LL scales are available.
S/T: trigonometry (solution of [usually right] triangles. ST extends both S and T to small angles.)
