I absolutely love this tutorial! It's exactly what I've been looking for. I love the real time. Your narration is perfect and relative. I love seeing your work close up. I love all the information you put in the video description. Even your background music is perfect. It is nice and soft and doesn't over power your voice. Your painting style is wonderful! I'm ready to move away from all the loose style painting and into my detailed and realistic. Here you are! Perfect. Don't change a thing!
I am a very new watercolorist. I have only done very simple things until now. I loved watching this longer video with your very useful comments. I feel encouraged to try a more detailed painting after watching this. It helped me understand how slow and careful I will have to be. ❤
Thank you @joanbailey3632, I'm glad the tutorial was helpful for you! Congratulations on starting with watercolor, you have a wonderful adventure ahead of you!
Thank you @suegruszka8280, I do have one hummingbird tutorial here: ruclips.net/video/bEafO1ydXMw/видео.html but they are so fun to paint, I will definitely be doing more of them!
Love the longer more detailed tutorials. I am just starting out with watercolour so need all the detailed tips so this was really good. I haven't found what I prefer to paint yet but I am interested in flowers and birds, landscapes, I'm finding sky and clouds, water and beaches difficult at the moment. Thanks for these tutorials, they are a huge inspiration ❤
Thank you for your feedback! I also find it easier to paint detailed subjects than loose landscapes, they are harder than they seem! Congrats too on starting with watercolor, please let me know if you have any questions as you go and I will be happy to help!
I loved everything about this tutorial...the explanations of colors and techniques as well as close ups while you were painting. I love the full length tutorials. I actually watch while on my elliptical machine. Makes exercising enjoyable. I can’t wait to see what you do next. Thanks so much for sharing your talent!
I am a new subscriber after finding you via another wildlife watercolor tutorial. I LOVE your longer format. When not painting myself I enjoy watching others paint. After this one I can't wait to watch some of your others. Keep up the great work!
I was looking to paint a goldfinch and found this video. It is absolutely marvelous to watch you paint for 45 minutes with your commentary. I am glad you are still posting videos and will subscribe.
Love this painting 😍 you do a wonderful job explaining it. I would definitely like to see more of your longer videos. I am mainly interested in birds and flowers and haven’t been using watercolour for very long. Also very interesting in moving away from the loose paintings and doing more like you have done here. Thank you for a lovely tutorial 🌹
Yes please continue the longer videos. Great tutorial by the way. Loved it and just subscribed! I would love to see a real Fox tutorial. Thank you! 🇨🇦👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I would definitely like for you to post others like this. Very easy to follow and I like how you mention what you are doing throughout the video. Excellent
How absolutely beautiful.Your demonstration is very clear and I like longer videos. Yes, there is something I want to learn to paint. It is a tree made into a woman’s body. It was very respective. Quite Lovely. No I am not a guy? As a woman I think the female body exquisite. However it may not be the place for Utubes algorithms. Thank you very much for this wonderful tutorial I’m going to try it again and again until I can get close to what yours looks like.
Thank you so much for your lovely comments! I really like your idea of a tree woman too, it sounds like an interesting thing to try! I'm glad you enjoyed the longer tutorial format, I will plan to make more like this in the future. :)
I enjoyed watching and learning from your excellent tutorial. I admired and was inspired by your finished painting and was able to follow along from start to finish. An enthusiastic like and subscribe! Thank you for sharing your love of watercolor with those of us who truly want to learn!
Hi Jessie, thank you so much for your kind words and I am thrilled that you followed along with this tutorial! It is my utmost pleasure to share my love of watercolor and help/inspire people to paint ☺
This is absolutely amazing. Thank you so very much for sharing all of your tips and techniques and for the close up video of you painting. It is so very helpful for a beginner such as myself.
Thank you so much for this video! The real time tutorial was really helpful for me. I especially appreciated your detailed explanation of what you were doing. This was definitely the best realistic bird tutorial I’ve seen on RUclips!
I am interested in learning how to do black crows, hooded crows and starlings. Especially learning how to paint all of the various colors in (especially in a starling's) feathers.
27:45 South African time. I found the longer, slower video really helpful & would love to follow more of these. The advice on paper & brush size is great. I watch on my phone as I have impaired sight & can enlarge the picture to assist me. I paint fairly large subjects which I find easier to work with, thanks for your clear explanations. Gillian Freestate Province in South Africa
This is a great tutorial. Your close up footage was really helpful, along with your instruction. The info on colours and blending will help me with my watercolour paintings. Birds are wonderful.
I found this so helpful. Your work is really amazing! I took this really slow and would back up in places. Your blending of paint colors is really a big help. I can't wait to find more of your videos.
I liked the long version because it shows more and you explain in more detail. Would you also include in your next videos when to paint wet on dry or wet on wet, what all the means and the results of it all?
Thank you for your feedback and the suggestion! I will try to do a better job of explaining the "why" in future videos, I am so glad you pointed that out, I always encourage feedback ☺
Love your bird paintings! I’m a retired bird carver and am embarking on a new hobby, water color, birds and landscapes. Would to see a loon painting demonstration!
Painting was beautiful, you have given a detail description about the colors,it was very helpful, as for the length of the video for us beginners it was very good please forward new paintings with detail description
Thoroughly enjoyed real-time lessons, perhaps small animals which don't require in-depth details but realistic enough. Rabbit, duck, chicken, hedgehog, cat, puppy, tiger cub, etc. Do you do tiny paintings? Like cactus in pots and plants. Guess most anything that you enjoy painting. Whimsical paintings now and then perhaps, like teapot and cup with pansies in the cup. I know I'm not much in the way of great ideas. I just love learning from you in such a short time I found your RUclips. Happy Painting🎨🤗
Thank you for your feedback Joan! Those are all good ideas. I like painting a variety of subjects and styles, so your suggestions really help me to plan!
I love your bird pictures ANY would be appreciated. Your tutorials are very rewarding and relaxing to watch. thank you, Do you ever use watercolour pencils along with your paints ?
Thank you very much for the kind words! I have used wc pencils from time to time but usually as a finishing touch, not all on its own. I have used InkTense pencils which are amazingly colorful but they are permanent and not able to reactive once dry, since they are more of an ink than watercolor. I would be interested in brand recommendations for watercolor pencils though.
Hi Aura, I really enjoyed this video. The long format was good. I am fairly new to watercolor and learned a lot; particularly about layering and blending colors. I like this type of fine detailed painting. I am interested in painting more songbirds, then waterfowl, and still life (fruits and vegetables). Thank you.
Could you do a tutorial on white feathers both the flight and fluffy ones, dog/cat fur and birds with iridescent places such as mallards, pigeons...:)?😊
Can't wait to do this. I did a Udemy class of yours where you guided us one bit at a time. I love the longer ones since I get to learn so much plus the end result is more of something I can be proud of
Sorry for the late reply! I don't recall the exact brands, but they are definitely brushes, not pens. I think for the detail on this bird, I used a size 1 brush. Now, I typically use either Silver Black Velvet brushes or Escoda watercolor brushes.
Hi Shelly 00! I painted a rainbow landscape per your suggestion, you can watch it here: ruclips.net/video/EATK-h-1TsE/видео.html I hope you enjoy it and find it helpful! Thank you again for the idea, it was challenging, but so much fun! 😊😀

Hi Helen, thank you for the ideas! I will make a note of these, as dark feathers that are still transparent can be tricky but a great challenge!

Love the long tutorials. May i suggest to paint the brambling. I think it is difficult because of the patterns. Tyia
Thank you for your feedback on the longer tutorials! Yes some background would help this piece, I usually add at least a splash of color.
Could you do a tutorial on white feathers both the flight and fluffy ones, dog/cat fur and birds with iridescent places such as mallards, pigeons...:)?😊

Can you show how to paint British game birds please
Kevin from uk
What kind of brushes are you using? Seems they have color filled in them like pen!!!
Sorry for the late reply! I don't recall the exact brands, but they are definitely brushes, not pens. I think for the detail on this bird, I used a size 1 brush. Now, I typically use either Silver Black Velvet brushes or Escoda watercolor brushes.
