I can't wait until humans evolve into something crab-like but not technically a crab
++++++++++
This is now my life goal.
Too late. My ex wife evolved into that years ago.
Thank you for this comment! I haven't had a genuine laugh in quite some time.
i've evolved into crap
"negatively buoyant" thank the GODS i have a better term now than "sinky"
Different, not necessarily better.
Thanks for giving me a more fun term than "negatively buoyant".
i cannot think of a better term for “negatively buoyant” than sinky. i don’t know what you’re talking about
@@eefn5755 sinking is a negative word.
We need a fuzzy word :3
It’s not conquest... it’s liberation.
It’s not imposing values onto foreign nations it’s democracy.
It’s not stealing or unequal taxes it’s... redistribution.
It’s not racism, it’s racial awareness.
It’s not genocide... it’s different normals (Biden himself said this on the China concentration camps.)
Feeling a bit sinky this morning
50% yeti, 50% crab, 100% bizarre
@ERA CASTE thanks sherlock
@ERA CASTE I was tempted to leave some stupid sarcastic comment about how you cant have 200%, mocking people who overcorrect like that with no sense of context. But it turns out someone already genuinely did that for me! :D Ask and ye shall receive I suppose lol
100% reason to remember the name
"the crab wannabees" Everything evolves into crabs. Awesume
EONS reference there.
There is only one step, and it *IS* crab
reject humanity. become crabbe.
I can't get over how that deep sea drone, no doubt costing many many thousands of dollars to design, build, and use, has a fricking plastic MILK CRATE on it.
if it aint broken dont fix it
Probably more like 10s of millions i bet
2:33
There's a crab of the same genus called Hoff crab.
It got his name, because of his hairy chest, as a tribute to David Hasselhoff chest hair ahahahah
AFAIK, "Hoff Crab" is the common name for K. tyleri: the species that got special mention for its chest hair at 4:08 ^_^
(P.S.: Thanks for this post. I'm surprised this fun fact didn't get mentioned in the video.)
"Don't mess with the Hoff!"
@@alexanderheinricher346 Thanks for sharing this! :D
Ok but Sarahs outfit is stunning and so well put together!
I know! She looks awesome!
Red hair green clothes is just the best combination!
I wonder if that raven skull pendant is a Witcher reference.
Kiwa Puravida is named for the Costa Rican phrase “Pura Vida”, “pure life”, used there to represent Costa Rican life and culture. Appropriate for a chill crab hanging out right off the costa!
I was about to comment the same thing, specially because I'm Costa Rican myself.
This was definitely the inspiration for the Gen 7 Pokemon Crabominable
You beat me to the comment... have a like.

@@frozenjune83 LOL Same
Just so you know that is confirmed that it is :)
I feel like it deserves a better design :( it’s such a cool creature with an ugly design
The extreme survival strategies of animals are mind-blowing.
As with all of these so far I'm like "oh yeah I've heard of those, I guess I should click anyway" but then I always every time learn something absolutely fascinating that none of the hype ever bothered to mention - farming bacteria on the fuzz??? that's so cool. I also never thought about how cold seeps are actually also solar energy- galaxy brain moment there, lol
Same
Ha, I learned about bacteria farming yeti crabs from the Octonauts! Seriously, that was an amazing cartoon teaching so much. Seasons 1 and 2 are my favourite.
She is perfect for this, her humor is fantastic
1. forbidden thoughts: wonder what these things taste like....
2. GORGEOUS OUTFIT. A+++++
I know... they look kinda delish
They eat mostly amino acids and fatty acids. Sounds meaty and fatty.
probably not very nice, what with all the sulfur in the water around them
I learned about these friends while watching Octonauts with my nephew. Children's television is seriously so cool.
I like this host for Bizarre Beasts. She has gravitas and a sense of humor that works for this channel. Well done!
THEY HAVE SMILEY FACES ON THEIR BACKS I LOVE THEM
these guys are so much more ready for the apocalypse than us. shoutout to our distant future crab overlords.
🎶 she wore
greEeeEeEeen velveEeeEeEetttt🎶
If we are going crustaceans i really want a pin and video on the mantis shrimp. With its cavuating punches and crazy colors.
1:13 smile face on it's back
"I totally get this, I live in Montana" GURL YOU VALID.
I'm not from the US, could someone explain this please? 🙈
@@MsBlulucky Montana is pretty cold in the winter.
@@MsBlulucky
Montana is not like Siberia, but it's close from what I understand.
Wow, its crazy that the actual tectonic plates themselves move faster than this colony can move. It's like the entire species is a moss colony. It makes me think of the difference between stagnant life forms, moving life forms, groups of life, stagnant life groups, and moving life groups. Changing from relatively nonmoving species to moving speices is kind of a big change, even if the individual life forms themselves could move either way
As a Costa Rican, it makes me so proud to know that the crab is named Kiwa Puravida, so awesome. Linda mae, eso es todo un exito!!!!!
It’s my favorite day of the month!!!
Not related, but I love her outfit
omfg right??
Agreed!
i saw the title and was like YETI CRAB YETI CRAB YETI CRAB!
1:14 , how can you not notice that they all have a smilely emoji on their top plate.
I've been binging this series (not in order, just picking random ones from the sidebar) and I don't know why, but this is my favorite critter so far? They're all very cool of course but this one is my favorite for, as far as I can tell, no reason whatsoever.
Truly bizarre beast + bizarre habitat + bizarre symbiosis + bizarre food source + not bizarre, but beautiful dress = this is one of the best videos ever 💜💜💜
I loved that she mocked the sun. It’s so smug and I’m just happy someone knocked it down a peg or two
Does anybody else still the tongue-sticky smiley (:P) on the back of the Kiwa Hirsuta and the kitty-face (:3) on the back of the Kiwa Tyleri ? (1:15)
Furry claws... of FURY!
This host did such an excellent job presenting this information! I've been playing a lot of a game called Deep Vents, so I already wanted to know more about the yeti "crab," but this host sold these little fury things so well. I'm so into this channel!
I just discovered the copepod Sapphirina, which is, I think, the most bizarre beast, the strangest thing being their ability to get invisible when the light angle is just right. It would be great if you could talk about it !
en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sapphirina
There's basically nothing in the wiki article. These lil guys seem to be a rare treasure. Thanks for telling us about them! ❤
@@SatanRomps They’re literally known as Sea Sapphires. They basically *are* living treasures.
Their gem-like appearance is actually a fault in how they grow. If they grew just slightly differently, then they’d be near invisible *all the time.* However, evolution really only cares about the good enough, first and foremost.
I honestly love this narrators narration and sense of humour so much 😂
These ecosystems seriously sound like something out of a sci-fi backstory, and I'm here for it. Nature is just wild in how tenacious it can be.
Yeti Crab: Shut up about the sun. *_SHUT UP ABOUT THE SUN_* .
Super excited about this one! I just started covering arthropods in my zoology class and I’d love to talk about this with my students!
Omg omg omg those fuzzy arms are perfect for hugging! I’ll hug youuuu little Yettie crabby crab!
🤩😆🥰🥰🥰🥰🦀
“They’re not really crabs”
Carzinisation, got it!
New favourite RUclips channel!!
I really wish you guys had a gallery of all the versions of past pins on the website. Even though we can't have them now it's really cool to watch the videos from the past and wonder what colors those pins were.
Exceptional!
As usual.
Great video!
Great outfit and even better information! Good video
I'm from Montana! And just like those crabs, I scuttled away from the cold. Also I have hairy claws.
I forgot how much I loved this channel 😂❤
I have been extremely obsessed with the yeti crab since 2013 thank you
Love this!
I'm supposed to be a Biology student but I can't deny that my first words about this video were:
"CRABOMINABLE'S REAL??"
Fascinating stuff!
The videos on this channel are awesome
She is a lot of fun. I love listening.
loved this vid! 🔥top, too!
Cool episode, love the fuzzy lobsters. Also, off topic but, I like the really cool fuzzy top too 👌
Normal People: Yeti Crab
Me, an intellectual: Bigfoot Lobster
Sarah looks amazing! Beautiful and smart! She's a great host!
Watching Brotherhood 2.0 and then this immediately afterward makes me think of the way Yeti was used in BH2.0…😅
Sarah Suta, your outfit is my kinda festive. Macabre and crushed velvet. Heck to the yes.
I am heartbroken. I discovered BBeasts late in 2021 and got onboard with the pin club in April 2022. NOW I discover this ep and realize I will never possess a yeti crab pin. *sobbing quietly as I disappear into the fog*
Me rn but with all the pins they've had so far, plus they don't even ship to my country yet (T.T)
i just found this show and I love it
I knew it was the Yeti Crab!
It said what it was in the thumbnail
@@elizabethdyer8127 i was excited about it anyway
I can't believe I was misled into thinking this is a crab. I am be coming violent, shaking, quaking, puking a little even...
Speedrun record for Yeti Crabs from being discovered in 2005 to being a Pokemon (Crabominable) in 2016?
Underrated channel lol
oh, so this must be what crabominable is based on
They are fluffy and they dance!!! C'mon, they are amazing!!!!
Woo hoo. New amazing channel. Thx cold middle of nowhere part of america! Lol. Xoxox
I remember reading about the fuzzy lobsters in Nat Geo when they were first discovered!
That is just so awesome a crab species that shares a name with the kind of creature that’s my spirit guardian how awesome is that
You absolutely should add the Coconut Crabs to Bizarre Beasts family. I mean just for being the largest land exoskeleton animal alive today by far but also there living in jungles miles away from the sea.
?! Are we not going to cover why the shots of Kiwa Puravida have asymmetric legs?! Is that our only official sciencey photograph and this individual happens to be missing legs or so they actually have an asymmetric body plan?
The mark on the kiwa hirsuta's back at 1:14 looks like a smiley face with a stuck out tongue 😛
Damn it i guessed it wrong i was thinking of a Coconut crab which are still the coolest carb ever! But the yeti crab was very interesting! Glad this channel exsist! Also could you make a video about a Sri Lankan fauna?
1:14 They have little smiley faces on their backs 🙉
I love learning about deep sea creatures!!
So fascinating🦀
1:43
Literal Fabio energy....the hair is IMPECCABLE
I learned about these watching Wild Kratts with my kids.
bruh the first yeti crab has a smiley face doing :P on its back
Kiwa Puravida is from my country and I didn't know it even existed!
Anyone else notice the faces on the crab shells?? Like little smiley faces
She looks like she is about to walk into a modern day speak easy. Lol
Also, I have crabs.... lol
anyone else notice the smiley faces on the crabs shells
I live in Montana, too.
Glad to see this series starting to explore the diversity of weirdness in inverterbrates!
Those crabs waving their arms around the vents look like they are at a Beatles concert and "Hey Jude!" is playing. I never wanted to see a video of that so badly right now,.
Having hair on not every part of the outside body ✔️
Trying to stay as warm as possible ✔️
Farming/Grinding things so that you can later eat them ✔️
Having a lot of them at one location ✔️
I’ve come to the conclusion that these “yeti crabs” are just regular humans, but under the sea.
Is the Kiwa Puravida from around Costa Rica ...?? Bc Pura Vida is like... the country’s tagline & I know there’s tectonic activity in the area bc there’s volcanoes!!
Nice!
I know I shouldn't make comments about the appearance of female (or any) RUclips host's looks. But that green top is on point, and Sarah Suta's fashion sense is stellar.
SQUAT LOBSTERS
Yeti crabs with smiley faces on their backs.. 😁
There is a very real part of me that is actively angry I don't have setae and snacks growing on my arms...
My answer the title is because. Its not hair or fur it’s something to help these guys survive
Growing your food on your own body is a great idea. THANKS CRABS FOR THIS WONDERFUL LIFE TIP, 🤣🤣🤣
BBC Blue Planet narrated by Sri David Attenborough covers the same topic but more professionally
I just found this channel. Now i don't have to watch so many B movies to get my regular dose of "weird" lol.
Huh, very neat!
One of them crabs has been favoring it's right arm a bit too much, if you know what I mean, lol 🤣🤣🤣
when i read the title i was like soo underwater spiders??
