A fantastic video wit superb visuals and brilliant overall presentation. Real shame about certain misleading facts presumably supplied by certain minority ethnic and religious groups, to purposely mislead the viewing audience and distort the well established history of this unique nation.

Hey there thanks for watching! I pretty much just sourced a bunch of generic facts off the internet to make the most introductory generic documentary of SriLanka possible. If you’d like to make a response video on your channel maybe reacting to some of the misleading facts in mine, I would be thrilled to check it out! Thank you!!

Early form of Hinduism didn't exist in Sri Lanka.it was in India. In pre history era, tribe groups in Sri Lanka practiced their own way of beliefs and values.it is completely different from the early form of Hinduism.do more research before claim.

Hey thanks for watching! Understandably the history of Sri Lanka and India is extremely complex and interconnected and even more so as history goes back in time. As we didn’t have any footage of Sri Lanka’s prehistoric inhabitants from our shoot there (haha) we chose to keep things pretty general and focus on the Hindu history which we had footage of the temple in Colombo. Also we say ‘early form of Hinduism’ to cover our bases understanding that there has since ancient times been interaction between the two great regions for a long time and it may be a form unrecognizable to us today. There are definitely numerous errors throughout but we tried our best as outsiders and from our cursory research this is what we came up with. What did you think of the rest of the documentary? Also be sure to check out our films from India and Nepal as well!

Actually if you really look into the Sri Lankan history dating back to Ramayana era which predates the tribes that existed during King Vijaya’s arrival, they do have a an ancient form of Hinduism that is similar to that in ancient India which consisted of worshiping sun and moon. This directly relates to yoga nowadays although it was a lifestyle during the time. And Ayurveda links into it around the same time too. ✨
Have fun exploring people cos Sri Lanka truly is a wonder and has much more than we think to discover.

So much false history. Modern historians never claimed that there was Shiva worship by the earliest inhabitants. The earliest inhabitants were the Vedda people who followed animism followed later by Buddhism among their majority which were absorbed by the Sinhala people. Hinduism came much later when the Tamil invaded the island and continuously tried to force the Hindu caste system on the island and make Hinduism the state religion. Also, they became independent on 1948 and not 1972. Lastly, for most of its history it was not divided in different kingdom. It would periodically become divided when invaded repeatedly or due to foreign influence. This video seems to be paid by LTTE propagandists and the Catholic church (central crime syndicate).

Sinhalese buddhist need a reason to claim Sri Lanka as their own. This land had belonged to the Tamils even before aryan invasion of the Indian subcontinent and later the Island (Tamil Eelam/Sri Lanka). They can because they’ve got political power so Sinhalese can change or corrupt history. They have already corrupted the Tamils history of Ananthapuram and they changed Tamil kings into Sinhala kings because changing history is like a hobby for them. Now they want to claim Ravana.
Buddhism was born sometime after the time of Buddha, that is in the centuries after 500 BC. Ramayana legend is said to have taken place millions of years ago. If not that, even then it has been calculated to have taken place at least around 5100 BC. And Ravana was one of the greatest ever followers of Lord Shiva. Ramayana has been a folklore that has been followed not only in India or Lanka, but also in all south east asia and far east. Folklores have basis in actual history and have been the sole medium of passing on history orally for millennia.
Keezhadi site in Tamil Nadu and Indus Valley are good example of the Tamil claim of the land. Also Sinhala history started with the invasion of King Vijaya which was 2500 years ago but Ravana’s history started way before that (7500 years

LOL. The most stupid comment ever seen in utube. Tamil Racists want to claim some land because they are the largest group of people that doesn't have a country to their own. Tamils never was in Sri Lanka in the past. Thats why only 10% tamils in Sri Lanka while Sinhalese 80%. Racist Tamils always ignore the fact that even with normal propulation growth rate, Tamils woud have 80% in SriLanka instead of Sinhalese but it didn't happen because Tamils came to Sri Lanka 1000 years ago when Sinhalese kings rented Indian tamil armies for some wars.😅

@@nimalwijesundara7448 Destroying tamil history is what your politicians and monks are doing kathirkamam temple tamil god murugan sinhalese claim it. Sinhalese politicians are planning to change Kanya Venneeruttu Tamils and Thirukoneswaram Shiva Temple because they are the majority race and steal the history of the minority race and change it to theirs. Postage stamps depicting SriLanka
The Tamils of Sri Lanka are indigenous; PROOF That singalese are immigrants
In 1956 the Government of Sri Lanka issued a special stamp with the title "Vijayan's Arrival".The stamp depicted Queni spinning yarn under a tree and Vijayan, who had arrived in a ship, seeking refuge with her.The idea that Vijayan came to Sri Lanka from North India is not acceptable, and if we say that a Tamil woman named Kuveni was here when Vijayan arrived, it will be as if we have admitted that the natives of Sri Lanka are Tamils. Therefore, we should withdraw this stamp," they said.
In fact, Sinhalese are the residents of immigrants!!!

@@nimalwijesundara7448 💚Dudagamunu father name Kavantissa, king 🎊🎊( naga Tamil king) 💚Ruhuna of 💚💚Dudagamunu tamil budhan ellalan hindu tamil 💚💚so there was a war between them both. Mahavamsam is a there is also factual information. Questions:It was according to information and details given in Mahāvaṃsa that late King Ashoka the Emperor of India was recognized correctly and his period of reign decided upon. By these facts too, it is crystal clear that Mahāvaṃsa has an international recognition.💚answer:This is not true. The recognition of King Ashoka never came to pass only due to the existence of Mahāvaṃsa. You are insulting the Indians! The Ashokan Edicts were well known.💚Question: Yalpaanam Vypawamalai is considered the oldest book written about the history of original Tamils. Information provided at the very beginning of that book tallies with information given in Mahawamsa to a great extent. At the beginning it states about King Wijaya just as mentioned in Mahawamsa too. What are your views on this issue.💚Answer: Yalpaana Vypavamalai was not a book written by a Historian. He would have thought Mahāvaṃsa to have been true and referred to its contents. But within the last ten years or so, lots of evidence has come to light to show the existence of Tamils from pre Buddhistic times.💚Question: Yalpana Vypawamalai states about the Aryachakrawarthy dynasty. Indian inscriptions state that. That dynasty was not Tamil. If it was so, how do you say original residents in Jaffna were Tamils and there was a Tamil Kingdom in Jaffna!💚Answer: Aryachakrawarthis were Telugu Dravidians. They spoke Tamil when they were ruling here because Tamil was the language of communication at that time at the Royal Level. The Kandyan King signed in Tamil in 1815. He was an Aryachakrawarthi. Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Sinhalese were all Languages that came out of Tamil. Tamil and Pali helped to form Sinhala language. Surely I don’t have to prove to you that Sangiliyan the last King of Jaffna was a Tamil? Are you trying to say Jaffna Patnam was Sinhalese? How foolish of you! Sinhala language came into existence only 1300-1400 years ago. Before that there were no Sinhala language nor Sinhalese as a community. Mahāvaṃsa was in Pali. There was no Sinhalese when Mahāvaṃsa was written in the 5th Century AD. Sinhala came in the 6th or 7th Century AD. Further the recent DNA tests have confirmed Tamils and Sinhalese are from the same common origin.
