I have watched MANY colour theory tutorials and I have NEVER seen someone explain it so well. I finally understand it because you didn’t just talk about some abstract concept, you actually showed us how to build the colour scheme step by step. You honestly have a gift and this video alone has made me excited to try digital drawing/painting again when I had my iPad and Apple pencil thrown to the side after getting frustrated with failing too many times without understanding why. Thank you so much.
I haven't seen anyone teach color theory quite this in depth, especially as it relates to digital painting with a color wheel. Now I realize that thinking I have an unlimited palette due to access to the complete color spectrum is an illusion. I also understand why my final image looks so disjointed. It is because I'm just freely picking colors from all over the place without rhyme or reason. This is why traditional painters get so much out of so few colors. Thanks for this tutorial
I've recently jumped down the color theory rabbit hole, so to speak, and every video I watch or book I read seems to go in one ear and out the other because I have nothing to apply this knowledge to. Finally, you've managed to explain color theory in an applicable way that's both easy to understand and learn to apply yourself. Thank you so much for this!
Oh my. Be prepared for your art to go havoc until you reach an understanding. I suffered months n months of shitty art when I jumped into the rabbit hole.
hello, would you please make a tutorial on the steps to make the colours darker and lighter too? do you change the brush opacity? thank you for your time!
This makes so much sense, I have to try it out! What I do usually is just upload a photo that I like into procreate palette creator and from there I use the color wheel. But this is so much more efficient and easier to control in the process!
So hi, I hope you see this, couse I’ve been trying to make some sort of a colour palette as you shown. But I couldn’t find the correct brush to blend my colours well enough. Can you suggest brushes that blends well? Or you can just say witch brush you use during this video. I just find your channel and I’m glad I did. I’d really appreciate if you colud help me. Thanks anyway! Ps: I’m so sorry if I sound so demanded or cold, English is not my native language (‘:
I would also like to know which brush to use to blend the colors! That would be very helpful. PS. you did not seem demanding or cold at all! Your english was great!
Your videos are so helpful! I just ordered your palettes and brushes. You are honestly so good at explaining this that I'm even watching the ads on your videos!
Please can you pleasemake detailed video on color theory and how we can use it in our design or any other graphic design projects, I always su_ks when it comes to color theory and using it harmoniously into design projects, now it has become so much frustrating, please help me out..
@@HazeLong May i ask a question? for example, if we want to create a darker blue from the 3 primary colours showed in the video, how do we form the dark blue? I tried to smudge colours based on the colour palette (according to the video) but couldn’t form a darker blue.. or i might have mistakes 🙏🏻 any response are much appreciated!! and i’m rooting for part 2 💕💕
Good question. Usually the colors we pick will naturally have light to dark swatches. In this case the darkest swatch is black. So u mix blue with black. But if u have a palette where example- green is the darkest. U can use that to mix with the blue. The blue will not be vibrant and will not look like blue the darker u go so u have to find a balance. N if u must have it, then add the darker blue in the palette.
I love your classes but they feel a little bit advanced for me. Do you have any classes or courses about getting this far with a drawing before painting or anything a bit less experienced? Thank you
Does anyone know which brush is used to do the outline sketch? Seems every time I try a brush and add the color- the color goes out of the area to the whole canvas?
Yea. Red+blue is purple. But red(close to pink) + blue(close to purple) is vibrant purple. Red(close to orange) + blue(close to green) will give u dull purple. If the red or blue is not vibrant and grey it will also give u dull purple. After a while, you kinda know what colors you can get in your palette just from the primary colors you choose. This takes experience. This palette does not have purple or pink.
@@HazeLong thank you so much i U dont even know how grateful i am for having a nice person helping me And i love ur drawing and videos Have a great day and a great life🥰

Your stuff is so helpful, thank you! 💝
By the way, which brush do you use when you blend together your colors to create the palettes?
i think she used monoline in the calligraphy section, just turn the opacity down (ik its rly late lol)
Where do u get the paper texture?! Really helpful tutorial too btw haha
Oh it’s from my watercolor brush pack. You can get it at hazelong.com
GGs, underated channel
Hi Hazel thank you for making these videos, do you by any chance upload the sheet with the base drawing?
Yea it’s called color palette reference n u can preview it in part 2
so good
this is absolutely helpful! what if we are using warmer or cooler primary colours? is there any changes in creating our own colour palette?
Not really. But I’ll get into the part on what colors to use for light and what colors to use for shadows in part 2

I use the sketch or natural sketch brush. Make sure you set your canvas size to be a4 or bigger
@@HazeLong Thank you for responding!
Do you have this palette for sell?!
Coming up in part 2

Sharee the pallette from this project please lol
I wish i even knew how to blend the colours to be able to make a pallette 😵😵
Experiment with brushes that can blend colors :) try out with brushes in the painting section if you have procreate.
Oh just use those brushes that gives you low opacity if you press lightly.
Thanks to you both for replying, and Haze for making the video. It's a great video. I've got a lot of practicing to do
This video is sooo helpful thank you !!
