Hey guys! So today's video is on how to find Yoyoing music. Finding Yoyo music is often a struggle, so in this video, I outline 3 strategies I use to find my next freestyle song. The first step is compiling a few songs you enjoy so we can use them as a benchmark to find something similar. Then we're going to use the 3 following platforms to discover new music.
Spotify
First, we're going to find music via Spotify. We're going to add music which we want to find a similar track and use Spotify's 'Radio' feature to discover new music.
Sound Cloud
Second, we're going to browse SoundCloud. We're going to enter in tracks we enjoy and click on the 'Related Tracks', and find new music that way.
RUclips
Finally, we're going to hop onto RUclips and find music via the 'Related Video's tab.

I have a lot of good song recommendations cause I already listen to mostly EDM and dubstep in my everyday life. So I often catch songs that I think are perfect for yoyoing.
For everyday training you can’t go wrong with musicians like Tristam, terminite, dex arson, pegboard nerds, panda eyes, and MDK. MDK especially if you wanna imitate that retro style of yoyoing cause his EDM has a very retro style to it, especially songs like space invaders. If you like speed combos, songs like “figures” by rukkus, “centipede” by knife party, or as a more lowkey option “against the sun” by Rookit. If you like your more tech heavy flow combos, music from Xtrullor has really flowie dubstep that pairs really well with flows.
Another good tip I could recommend, I’d look into rhythm game music. Games like geometry dash or just shapes and beats have some really iconic EDM tracks, even games like OSU and beat saber. Even rocket league has some top tier yoyo music.
There are so many avenues to find a lot of banger music for yoyoing

I'd recommend it! Electronic music is a little cliche right now. I'd say that as long as the music suits your style go for it.
Bro any metrik song works. If you haven't noticed, iori used like 3 metrik songs I think and Ayumu kasuga used atleast 3 aswell. Very good for fast horizontal playstyle
Dragon pirates is one of my favorite songs to yoyo too.

Freestyle songs are equally as impt, if not more impt than your own tricks.
Many new contestant make a common mistake of choosing a song faster than they can manage. It throws the competitor away and its the worst 1 minute / 2 minute of your life. Trust me everyone has been there.
You can imagine your 3 min combos to be the "brain" and the music to be the "skeleton". Like the skeleton in your own body, fs song shapes your entire fs. Theme, pace, flow and everything else other than your tricks. It is hard to find the perfect song because you have to fit your combos into this shape of the skeleton. Which is the fs song.
There are other reasons why i mention that it is more impt than your tricks:
1. Timing
Honestly this is probably 90% of where yoyo practice goes to. To match our combos in time with the music with NO MISTAKES. One small mistake destroys your combo and flow of your freestyle.
2. Flow
Move your yoyo together with the music. Do not waste your time in transitions from combo to combo. Common mistakes are lack of stage movement and showmanship/audience interaction.
3.Theme
Usually you know the theme when you search for a song and some times mimicking our favorite player's freestyle. Intense? Funky? Sad? Hype?
Unpopular opinion:
- Avoid snipping 2-3 songs together to make your freestyle.
- Avoid using songs that were used by other players UNLESS you can outclass the original.
There is so much more to talk about here but imma stop here. Practise hard everyone!
