Deftones, Thrice, and Chevelle are all amazing bands and three of my favorites (along with Tool, Coheed and Cambria, AFI, Mudvayne) I would consider them 3 of the most solid unique rock acts out there. They all share one thing in common, amazing music.

I think it's awesome that this band is willing to tread new ground and discuss, if only briefly, the topic of abusive fathers/unhealthy relationships in general, without coming across as having a false, or really any, sense of superiority in doing so. They're an admirable band who makes great music. If you don't enjoy it/can't take anything away from it, I would say you're missing out.

Weather its sounds similar to other songs if not isn't important. This song is amazing. It's lyricly sound and it sounds amazing. In a day and age where music is all about main stream and going to Hell they keep the hope of great music alive. I can't wait to hear the rest of the album. I'm like a kid waiting for christmas.

I love how if thrice releases a new album its garunteed to be good. They are soo good at keeping peoples interest and you never know what kind of album they are going to put out. Cant fucking wait for the new record! Its nice to hear music from people with talent. Unlike this epidemic of autotuned talentless excuses for music we see these days.
Why are we arguing about Thrice and Minus The Bear? Both are good bands. Thrice is clearly the superior, though. They have continually progressed and matured. MTB is good at what they do and have great songs. Enjoy both bands, I do.

@frofosho I completely agree with you! and so will most people! Thrice is it's own genre. They don't try to be anyone other than Thrice, which is evident when you hear songs like "Deadbolt" and then you hear this, or Beggars. If one didn't know better, they would say that they are two different bands. Thrice does what Thrice wants to do. And they do it right.
@distortedcasualty @distortedcasualty I respectfully disagree. The only real similarity is the open note pedal point (that may not be the correct term as I am not well versed in musical terms but I think you know what I mean) and the fact that they are groove-oriented riffs. The notes and rhythm are completely different and many bands have riffs using this technique.
The only part of Thrice that reminds remotely of the Deftones is the fact they have progressed with every album never making the same album twice leaving any band in the so called genre they started in the dust. My two favorite bands and practically the only bands I've never gave up on
At least Thrice is being compared to awesome hard rock bands like Deftones (who have been around for almost 20 years) and Chevelle. I got really tired of them being linked with not so awesome not so hardrock bands. Bands like Thrice, Tool, Deftones, Chevelle, Coheed and Cambria are really the cream of the crop of hardrocking music now adays. They all deserve respect.
@frofosho dude i'm a huge fan of thrice but i can tell you it's not such a bad comparison basis and thrice has toured with the latter a few times...and even sang "Red Sky" together once. if they were compared to Paramore that would be something to be a little weirded out by.
@CaptainRetardify why does it matter if something is radio friendly? if you like a band and their music it shouldn't matter if they're considered mainstream or underground or whatever there is in between. if you can recognise talented musicianship and the production of genuinely good music, listen to it. and enjoy it.
