We're reacting to Love Profusion by Madonna from the American Life album. An absolutely beautiful song (and she looks gorgeous in this video)!!

Madonna’s voice is one of them voices in the world since she came in the music scene you can instantly recognise it’s her after afew seconds.

One of the least noticed hallmarks of Madonna's style of singing is the inclusion of audible intake of breath in recordings. With most artists the audible breathing sound is removed from the final product, or the breathing sound just doesn't happen because they are aren't actually singing multiple lines without stopping. The breathing sound is particularly noticeable on "Love Profusion" and that has always been one of my favorite elements of the song. And I just love that Madonna is one one of the few artists that keep this very natural part of singing in their songs.
Mirwais edited out her breathing on other tracks on American Life but kept them on Love Profusion. Not sure why but it's an interesting stylistic choice.

Love this song. Love this album. One of her best - which is saying a lot because all of her albums are so good. This album is truly for her fans and less concerned with mainstream success. Risky time in her career, but Madonna does what she wants and I would not have it any other way! Great reaction. You both brighten my day with every video drop. Oh, and you always make me think. Love that.

Great reaction! Such an underrated song and video! It was directed by Luc Besson and it was based on a commercial for Estée Lauder Beyond Paradise Perfume that he directed, Love Profusion was the soundtrack of the ad. The ad used the “fairies beach world”, Madonna liked it and so for the video she used the same “world”.

She also voiced the character of Selenia in Luc Besson's animated film Arthur and the Invisibles around that time. They were pretty productive together for a short while.

I agree with you saying that this video describes what being in love feels like, you know, walking on water, seeing flowers everywhere. Luc Bessie directed this video kinda in exchange for Madonna to let him use the song in the ad for an Estee Lauder perfume. Actually, the ad and the video share the same setting. The following year Madonna would voice Princess Selenia in Besson’s Arthur and The Minimoys animation. Her look there is very similar to what she’d wear to the launch parties of her books. She released 5 of them between 2003 and 2005 and I think each one is worth a read (or a listen, there is also the audiobooks narrated by her)

For me this is the simpliest mv by madonna (I know that there is mvs from her older albums, but I mean considering her fame at that time when american life dropped, she preffered doing something simple), yet it has it's simbolism and it's so beautiful♥️ again another amazing reaction, it is organic and not like other reaction channels that just act

For me, this one at the La Cantine du Faubourg Paris is the best of the mini-concerts promo for American Life that she performed. It’s acoustic, very intimate setting before a small fan audience. This was a rare, accessible, down-to-earth Madonna without a fancy stage, no dancers, no backdrop screen video. Just Madonna, her acoustic guitar and her 5-man backup band. Her interaction and exchange between the audience, her band was so fascinating. Madonna’s charisma and wit was in full display.

Out of the singles, its my fave from that album. Love how the singles show how diverse this album is. Die Another Day, American Life, Hollywood, Nothing Fails, Love Profusion...many different vibes and themes but her lyrics were always great on this album and all songs sound unique and interesting. She really wasnt following the mainstream R&B Pop Sound at the time.

Couldn’t agree with you more. This is a stunningly lovely video, sharp contrast to the hard edge of American Life and Hollywood. The video mirrors her journey from a dark, hard urban setting then it brightens to a magical, fairytale like path perhaps evoking her then happy, in-love marriage with Guy Richie. The lyrics are introspective and she’s asking very deep questions about life and values. She’s on top form here-her aesthetics (her looks, voice and art) during this 7-year period (1998-2005) encompassing the eras of Ray Of Light, Music, American Life, and Confessions On A Dance Floor) are so beautiful, transcendent, and prolific-perhaps reflecting her spiritual rebirth and stable, loving family life at that time.

American life is probably her most underrated album. It had so many good songs with deep philosophical messages and meanings. it was released at a strange time. The Iraq war, Dixie chicks backlash, then the pop industry as a whole was becoming more disposable & manufactured because of the reality singing TV shows, pop idol etc.
Her next tour is the reinvention tour. Her choreography in this tour was insane..

This song just sounds beautiful, especially when her voice soars into the chorus. Like Erotica this was ahead of its time in both content and sound so is not widely celebrated. She has always been phenomenally clever at holding a big mirror up to society and making them feel uncomfortable through her work which I’m glad to say she has never lost staying true to her convictions. (She was one of the few to leave America during the Trump era, going to live in Portugal)

Nobody Knows Me would be like a sneak peak to her tour.

The song was also used for an Estee Lauder fragrance commercial that featured Caroline Murphy walking on the exact same tropical flower setting Madonna is

It is CRAZY to me that this is widely regarded as her worst record!!!! I actually have always looked at it as one of her best, full of introspection, experimentation and maturity. I pretty much love every song on this album and I DEFINITELY believe that it was way ahead of its time which is why it wasn't as well recieved.
