I am a diamond Pyke OTP and im wondering if this is the right program to sign up for? it seems to imply in a few places it is for emerald and below. I struggle to find relevant educational content for my skilllevel and champ.
@@harbLgarbL the program is open to anyone but it is mainly designed for getting players to Emerald. As a Diamond player you will certainly get a lot of value from watching the reviews in the VOD library (many diamond+ vods move over from school of support) , mid game fundamentals and asking questions in the program. Give it a try for one month and see how you go.
Just let me get a package deal for all academies please, I don't want to sign up for everything individually. Broken By Concept pass 40$ a month full access to all the coaching or whatever u want to do like that
@@BrokenByConcept thanks for responding, should I wait until the pyke module is completed before signing up? You mentioned in the episode that you were still building out the content for each champ, so if I sign up for a month and there is no module for my champ I think that would not be a good value for me. How can I find out when it will be ready?
8:30 I'm an emerald jungler. I still remember a few months ago, I had a Lulu on my team that completely 1v9'd the game by forcing pressure in bot, taking me by the hand on invades and objectives and returning to bot lane when her adc was close to being in danger. It was like a 15 minute stomp and I don't remember any other time I had such a big scoreline, but it was super clear to me who was carrying the game
@@WillToWinvlog grubs is turning into which supp can roam wins it, same with drake. jglers can only invade with prio or help, so no he can not just invade enemy jgl alone without thinking, shotcalls irrelevant. if pyke naut etc. roams to grubs, gets a kill mid, and is still there on time when youre trying to bot gank, the supp is carrying. doing your job is absolutely the best way to carry games
I had been watching the esports scene for years. Every time I played league I got bored of a champ or a role after just a few games. I loved azir as a champ from the esport watching players like scout faker and bdd play him. BUut was told he was too hard. Eventually I was just like idc I'm gonna one trick this champ until I'm good. Iron 4 51 lp -> gold 2 in a month.
I think the conversation about mechanics was brilliant. I do generally agree with the sentiments that it's mostly about anticipation and repetitions but, there are generally people who are a bit better at these micro movements. I think the driving force is having a plan already in mind with the reps to back it up. This is by far one of my favorite episodes. I enjoyed the talk about support even though It's my secondary role. As a jungle main I'm often disappointed by my supports. I can clearly see how they could be offering so much more to impact the game. It's not always about roams but even the simple yet tactical ward placements could be so useful. Heck, even just posturing while I'm trying to secure an obj is usually enough. Often times I have a support who locks in an enchanter or an off pick (Xerath for example) and I'm extremely frustrated by that. The only thing I understand about those picks is that they are planning to do nothing meaningful across the rest of the map. On rare occasion when I have a support who does play around the map I feel such a massive relief in pressure especially when they play alongside me as a jungler. It feels like I've been enabled to really turn up the pressure on the enemy team in a meaningful way. I can track the enemy jungler much easier via their wards or even having them be disruptive or stifling a roam from mid or something like that. I get more information in real-time instead of playing somewhat through educated but limited information. I can make more informed decisions and plan my movements across the map with efficiency and security. The difference it makes is massive and sometimes I've even felt like I was getting carried because of how effortless it made the game to play. I understand sometimes they don't have that freedom to break away from their lane but, it's about taking those small windows and maximizing their presence wherever possible that really makes the difference. A good support is an enabler to their teammates. Not just a meat shield or an enchanter pushing out a shield off cool down. That's my general view on it. Sometimes it really feels like my supports locked in a role to spectate their adc for 30 mins and the rest of the map/team is an after thought until they are forced to interact with the rest of the map/game.
I found strange success on ap shaco supp and reached d2 last split. But I am playing it way more aggressively in lane than most shacos and later in teamfights he is amazing for zoning and providing good cc. Currently experimenting with quinn supp as well, but she is fairly resource intensive and it works better when I play selfish and pick kills and farm whenever possible. But if you play her that way, she is so hard to deal with because I am literally on every corner of the map and secure objectives left and right. Literally had 15 win streak on her haha, she is so fun.
I think from my experience as a NA toplane main. Supp seems to have the widest skill gap in the same divisions. Jg is pretty close, but I've seen supports pull teammates kicking and screaming through the win with impeccable timing and vision. And I've had supps that may as well be parasite cat bots because they follow adc and do nothing of consequence the entire game
great podcast boys it was interesting listening to how you guys discuss improving as coaches, the language model updates that are coming out are exceptionally good at coaching video games, the level of analysis is insane, they can look at and analyse every single one of ur games in a matter of seconds, and in games like dota where the player pov is captured its incredibly comprehensive. maybe check some of them out, its mindblowing really how good they are.
13:00 In my brief attempts to try and coach other people, this is soooo freaking true when you start out. It's really tempting to just wall text slam people because there is just THAT much in the game to cover. The difficulty of coaching to me really feels like imparting knowledge efficiently and cutting the fat where it's unnecessary or the mass of 1%-ers and figuring out how to quickly drop a fat 20% on someone. Especially when teaching lower elo ranged players.
A subject I'm surprised they didn't get into for me is : How vast must a support player champ pool be ? I feel like supports kind have to always adapt to their team comp to complement it better. I don't see myself picking a Leona when my team already has a very tanky and CC oriented comp like Cho'gath, Zac, Ahri and Jhin for example.
@1:39:40 I think its the same as any role, you 1 or 2 main champions that you have a lot of champion mastery on and you play them regardless of comp (below emerald).
In the last video they did with cupcake they touched on it a bit. Curtis said that he suggests just picking 2 of the champs and spamming them. and then Cupcake added onto it saying that he thinks 2 is fine but if the two champs are in the same class (Enchanter, Engage, Mage, Warden...etc.) then that would speed up the learning journey even more.
2/3 of my support champs are approved, mhhh tempting 🤔 but i just joined the MLA and want to focus on midlane first. But it's so cool that there is a support academy now! :D
will you ever do a fill academy i know we aren't a big population and it is not the most optimal way to climb but personally i like the variation and seeing things from different roles perspective.
Hey there, I am curious: Why is Blitzcrank not one of the approved champs of the Program? I wouldve expected him to be prime champ material..? And nice that you open up a support academy, right as I chose to main this role and stick to your process xD
As a jungler, the only thing that ADC and support agree on is that I should have ganked for them more. It's like an abusive relationship, but they do agree that the neighbour is a dick
So the web page says the program is designed for up to Emerald 4. So does that mean as a high emerald/ low diamond support player there isn't any point in joining?
I believe they recommend personal coaching after reaching diamond, at least all the other courses are up to emerald 4 as well. These ones are designed as general guides for a lot of people and once you reach a certain level of skill they might not offer you much. Still, you can cancel anytime! So if you're willing to pay the monthly fee once, deffo check it out! 😊
MLA is up to Emerald IV and past that is MLA+ which sometimes has a wait list. but if you are in the program and you start off in the MLA you can get automatically upgraded to the MLA+ and have access to everything that comes with that.
As an ADC player I'm excited to see how this improves the level of play in bot lane, but I really hope this doesn't mean the ADC Academy is being delayed to accommodate this change. I've been really eager for the ADCA to start. Love the work you guys do, keep it up!
I 100% agree supports that are bad have no idea what they are doing can be harder to win then AD. that’s noob. Unfortunately in my opinion as a G1 ADC rn plat 3 peak whoever gets a human support will win bot lane.
Riot needs to broadly nerf the lane power of supports. Nothing feels worse than skill gapping the enemy adc by a ton but their support makes up the difference because your support is a potato. I lost lane as a platinum player into a silver Jhin just because his support was high emerald and won the lane 1v2. Jhin made no effort at all to play parallel. Supports should lose a starting potion. Increase that item cost.
@@KD-_- You feel my pain! Then your mid or afk jng that feels like they dont watch map or dont have any idea whats going on in the game say ADC gap. LMAO like bruh what???? It's a two play lane????
@@KD-_- This is how it works, supports usually have more impact than adcs in early game (at least engage/enchanters supports), while in late game they aren't impactful anymore and there's when the adc is the impactful one (normally with 3 items they are already rlly strong). U can identify who is the better support and if it's the enemy support then play just to farm and not die, if its ur supp, then u can try to follow him and get kills. U can also just play an early agressive adc like draven or lucian to have even more impact in the lane than ur support, but take into account that if un dont get some resourcess early game u will probably lose the game bcs enemy adc will have overscaled u. Btw the game u are refering to, was a flex? And what was the name of that jhin or that enemy support?
@@jett3447 Usually jlg/top/mid mains only reffer to adc but not just for the bad things, also for the good ones, when u are stomping enemy bot lane normally they just spam ping or congratulate only the adc when probably it was more about the support finding a great engage than the adc doing well, it has happened to me especially playing with my bronze/silver adc friend in normal/flex and me being a diamond support, where I have literally done everything and my friend even missplaying rlly hard (but it's ok bcs there's a reason he's bronze/silver) and mid/jgl/top beggins spam pinging him and not me XDDD
