Rick, I don't comment much on this site, but I felt compelled to commend you for making a great video. Great commentary, too. I felt like I was right there with you!
Thanks Garett, That was the idea. Some people, even instructors, have the knowledge but leave out key, minimal facts they feel should be already known or, they'll figure it out, type of deal while relaying. If you're able to reach thousands of inquiring people at any moment, keep it simple and as Joe Friday would say...just the facts...telling my age now, you might have to Google that. Thanks again.
Nice, watched a few other videos but i managed to get my front bumper off and the housing off in about 35mins. It's really not bad at all. you need a 8mm 7mm and a 10mm socket and a Philips head. I had issues getting those plastic screws out i think you need a special tool for those, they were not not un-screwing like they should. Low beam bulbs are expensive, they are D1R HID's It is imnportant to note when handling the new bulb do not touch the glass, hold it by the metal base and it's recommended to wear rubber gloves. I saw chineese knock offs on amazon for super cheap, but i just went with the Sylvania ones for 99.99. Love my montego, never wanna give this car up.
No special tool needed for the plastic Phillip head...maybe you missed the part where I said to use light pressure or they'll screw in place...regular left off, right on action. Good piggy-back though.
Nice video and car. Montego is a hidden gem of a car. Headlights are glass like the old days and do not fade like other cars. I still have factory bulbs in both the headlights and taillight and car is 10 years old
Thanks...Was actually going to get car inspected that morning and during my pre-inspect noticed the side marker out. I was not about to pay upwards of $50. to replace a $5. bulb. And yes the Montego/500s are great cars getting 30+ MPG on the highway. Headlights are plastic but as you say...I've never seen a dull set yet.
I have an 2005 and the lights have started to feel rough on the top portion of the headlight assembly. This is not hard to fix but should be done with them off the car. I use sandpaper and buffing them clear coat with a 2 part professional clearcoat with hardener. But yes they are plastic for sure.
Hey Rick, I know that you do not own this car anymore but was this video for just that side marker? If that side marker goes out do your low beams not work properly anymore?
I changed the low and high beam lights and the turn signal bulbs and those little stupid Ford designed bulbs to LED, merely by reaching behind the headlamp assembly!!!! NO HOUSING REMOVAL NEEDED! Just Patience!
I don't own the vehicle anymore but as I remember I don't think you do. I think I mentioned in the video that due to the location of the side marker bulb it warranted removal of the housing but the regular low beam could be accessed as it sits.

Thanks brother!
Leave it to the Ford engineers to come up with that design!
Stay well and thanks again!
Thanks for ID'ing the hidden ones!!! Awesome

Good job brother nicely explained.
I have one of these cars every thing is difficult to work on
Thank you, Rick. I hope you hit on a scratch off today.
Nice video. Explained nicely. Thanks

A side marker going out will have no impact on a low beam working or not.
Oh they work fine but I was about to get my yearly inspection and all lights have to work...of course they will replace for you, just not for free.
thanks for the video, now I know what I need to do.
Thanks bro , big help
Glad to help
fuck I'm just ride with my highbeams
Thank you
All that to change a headlight !:wow . But thanks for the help.
Thanks Rick.

do i still have to remove the entire housing just to replace my lowbeams?
