This really is the ultimate HT.
I love the idea that you can use BT to use APRSDroid, or really any external APRS / AX-25 functionality you want.
Though I do kinda wish it was DMR as opposed to DSTAR, but that's just personal preference.
    Looking forward to more videos!

Thanks! Yep, I love this thing so far. So much packed into it and I'm still figuring it all out. I've been most surprised with the quality of the HF receiver. I thought it'd be a gimmick, but damn, it actually works pretty well! With a bit of wire for an antenna, it's more than usable. I too think DMR would have been nice, but hopefully DSTAR will be fun too. Planning on using it for the first time this weekend when I go up to Columbus as we have no DSTAR around here. I've also already used it for some APRS fun... video coming soon!

I just ordered this radio today. So pumped to get it in the mail next week.

Looking forward to your review! If possible, could you do some testing with the Bluetooth capabilities? I saw a Reddit post recently in which the d74 was used for motorcycle mobile, which is exactly what I have been wanting to do.
    Keep up the videos!

I saw that same post, actually. Seems cool! I have used Bluetooth to connect it to an Android phone to map APRS stuff, but haven't tried audio of BT yet. I'll put it on the list!

has a gap between the radio and the battery, makes it feel cheap. Sent it back to distributor today.

Trying to decide between this and the Icon ID-51.

For me, it was really APRS that made me want this one, but there are many differences. The current model ID-51A Plus 2 is a bit cheaper, but for that extra $75-100, you get 100 KHz to 524 MHz receive, APRS, Bluetooth, 220 transmit, a color display, and a full keypad. That said, I haven't used the ID-51A so I can't really speak to its user interface which potentially be better, although the Kenwood has been solid for me in that regard. Also the ID51-A seems to be rated for water immersion which the Kenwood is not. There are probably other differences as well, but for me, I felt like I was getting better value with the Kenwood in terms of my needs out of the radio.
