I’m 1/4 Italian, but I am proud of my Italian heritage. I am pale too, but I have dark hair and eyes. You really should not worry about red hair. Sophia Loren had red hair and she was the symbol of Italian beauty for decades. I was raised in part by my Italian grandfather so I have deeper connection to that aspect of my heritage then any other. For me Italian is an emotional bond with my grandfather. At the end of the day famiglia is all that matters. Who loves you is what matters.

I'm not Italian, but I can 100% relate to the guy at 1:07 mark saying his teacher told him to change him name. When I was a kid in school, I always wrote my full Greek name in English as my parents taught me. The teacher however didn't like that. With her red pen, she'd "X" out the ending of my Greek name to make it shorter and for it to sound like an American name. Then she's say, "Boy, your name is this (pointed at the shorter word), and not this (pointing to the entire word)". Every day in first grade I wrote what my parents told me, and every day she'd come over a little bit annoyed at me saying my name is the shorter word.

I'm only half italian. I wish I was full italian. I'm a ginger so I have pale skin and my brother and sister are both darker with black hair. I feel awkward compared to them. I don't really know my moms side of the family after my grandma grace and papa vito died my moms family split apart. But I wish they didn't cuz I miss my uncle rodgey and uncle joey.

Oh boy do I remember the check mark on the back of the Chicago Public Schools report cards. I think the grades were, E,G,F, and god forbid, U. In our house I was the one getting a couple of check marks every quarter. You would think the grade F, meaning, Fair, not, Fail, was bad. It was the check marks that got ya the spoon, or broom, or, whatever was close

I'm the same, half-Greek, but take after the non-Greel side, and stick out like a sore thumb. it's a bitch, but we are cooler on the inside. ;)
