All skunk is is just another strain of cannabis known as indica. It doesn't have any more THC per se than any other strain. It all depends on the plants breeding. CBD and THC content in cannabis can be controlled by creating hybrids.

One does not substitute the other. If you think the drinking of alcohol will diminish or decrease due to cannabis legalisation then I think that you're being naive.
Personally i would keep alcohol legal, I know that it is more harmful than weed but I think they should both be legal as people who smoke weed tend to drink less than people who don't.

Dylan Morgan well, I have an idea for a ‘cannabis card’ where people apply for a card, and they are physically and emotionally assessed and given a monthly cap based on their physical and emotional state. Once they are given their card, they can transfer money from their bank account to their cannabis card. They can place as much money on the card as they like, but they can only purchase a certain amount of weed per month. This is to avoid psychosis or any other kind of long term effects. I think this works because it stops younger people from using cannabis and it regulates cannabis to a free, yet controlled extent.
Avery Ley Well you don’t need the cannabis card to stop young people from getting weed. What most people don’t understand is that the main reason young people can currently get weed is because it’s illegal meaning they can get however much off their friends or dealer. With it being legal there would at least be an added step in buying it from an official shop/ dispensary. I’d agree with getting a card since it would add another level of identification but I don’t think holding money on the card is necessary, it would just be bureaucratic. Plus the idea of only buying a certain amount is a bit like tip toeing forwards since some people smoke more than others and some smoke very little but regularly, there’s a huge difference between users. And frankly most of them have to go buy it off a shady guy and smoke as much as they have been doing for god knows how many years and have managed not to have some adverse psychosis effects. My initial reaction was the same as Steve Soliz, however he was not doing it because he wanted to "experience it", he was doing it because he wanted to know what happens. If you become observational while consuming it, you become some sort of spectator, completely alien to the persona you have otherwise. If you engage and participate while consuming it, you might discover the "true" nature you have, and getting there takes engagement and free will. He was not there yet, in my opinion.

How do people still not understand how offensive and damaging it is to claim cannabis 'is to blame' or 'causes' schizophrenia? If you're suffering psychotic episodes and you've been told it's because of cannabis, understand that your condition is genetic- cannabis is a catalyst; if you hadn't smoked cannabis something else would almost certainly have set off your condition. Alcohol and emotional distress are the primary triggers for most of us. Speak to people who've lived with the condition long term- it won't go away, but you can learn to manage it and eventually live a relatively normal life, most of the time. There are schizophrenics who are politicians, surgeons and everything in between. I wrote about it potentially being spice and that text is at the bottom now cause i found the real answer but I didn't want to delete if anyone is interested in reading about that. Skunk is also called sinsemilla, which translates to "without seeds". A technique of growing cannabis where only the female is allowed to blossom without pollen from the male plant, the female blossoms produce no seeds and the theory goes that this form of growing gives a higher potency plant because the plant doesn't waste energy on growing seeds. That mixed with the hydroponics growing technique I guess. Which is a product that got popular only cause you could smoke it and pass a drug test (and the effects were similiar to weed, from the beginning). Spice was ok to smoke in it's original form but then law regulators started making the chemical compounds illegal and it progressively got worse and worse when the companies making them created new formulas to stay ahead of the laws being written. I don't really know about Britains history with spice but the swedish story is packed with controversy. Now if they are talking about Spice and more importanly the current 2018 version of Spice, which in my opinion might as well be crack or heroin based on the physical addiction created by long term use. If they are talking about spice then that's just another argument for legalizing weed.
The reasons why we grow strong weed in Britain is because a) we don't have the climate and need to grow it inside but b) mostly due to it being illegal! It forces UK growers to grow small batches that don't normally raise suspicion and therefore need to be potent to counteract the small quantities that are grown. Legalising weed will have no difference to recreational smokers. Anyone who wants to smoke weed today can easily get some as it's always available. In fact, I've heard we export to mainland Europe and if government knew the quantities that are being moved, it would be in the top three UK exports. Authorities know they've well and truly lost the war against weed.
Also don’t forget if legalised the potency can be regulated. Whether you have to be 25+ to buy the much more potent weed (due to our brains developing till our mid 20s, smoking weed or any drug & drinking alcohol regularly whilst young can cause huge effects on the young developing mind that causes things like mental illness etc) or just ban high thc potent cannabis all together.

Skunk is more than just a strain name. Skunk is when the thc to cbd ratio is much more potent in thc (which causes psychotic episodes and paranoia) than cbd (which counters the negative side effects of thc consequently removing the chance of a psychotic episode or paranoia). This means that there is an elevated percentage of thc. as you said 14% and a significant decrease in cbd. Sometimes as low as 1%. with a ratio of 14%:1% there is a massively increased chance of experiencing the negative side effects than normal pure cannabis with the most common ratio of 4:5, Legalising would mean that the type of weed people are smoking is much safer to use and regulated.

I endure serious pain on a daily basis with my disabilities rather than use Fentanyl which i'm prescribed as it leaves me not knowing what's going on around me, asleep most of the time, & had near killed me twice stopping my breathing & another time coming off the stuff.... Cannabis not only helps with the constant pain from my disabilities & gives me the ability to sit upright in my wheelchair for longer periods without the pain becoming too much, but it also helps with my autism enabling me to socialize & communicate with far less anxiety than ever before in my life. but with the substance being illegal & unregulated it's potluck (lol) what you get from the streets, so i've found if you get some high CBD hemp trichomes & apply them to the high THC cannabis it levels it out in your system, or just use the CBD trichomes or oils if you feel you've had too much THC & it dulls the effect..... This needs to be legalized so people like me are not criminalized for trying to stay off harmful prescription drugs that have done lasting damage to my body & are a risk to my life... LEGALIZE MEDICINAL CANNABIS IN THE UK!

THC, and CBD are the only things that have generally helped me. The pharmaceuticals they gave me have had horrible side effects, almost to the point where I'd rather just have seizures then to take them. Its all just trial and error as well with these Pharmaceuticals..Talk about a nightmare. Cannabis isn't legal in my state as well, so I have to deal with getting it my own way :(

Which puts me under alot of stress just getting it. Its the only thing thats remotely helped with Epilepsy too. All the pharmaceuticals they've given me are just trial and error, and the side effects are worse than the seizures some days.

I have ADHD and Autism and when I started smoking cannabis there was a huge difference, my mood started getting better, depression and anxiety starts getting better and I don’t have it anymore because I started smoking cannabis and it has also made me be able to go to sleep at night, I remember that if I didn’t have a joint at night it would be harder for me to go to sleep, things will just play on my mind for ages like a stuck song in your head or conversations but when I have a joint before bed it makes me sleepy and I think positive thoughts then I fall asleep lol. I really think cannabis should be legalised for medical use and then eventually recreational, the thing that baffles my head is that alcohol and cigarettes are legal when they cause damage and are addictive, people may say cannabis is addictive but it’s not I remember when I didn’t have money so I had to go days without it yeah it was hard because I am a daily smoker but let me tell you I didn’t start going crazy and getting withdrawals it was just really hard but I did it because I can control it, I was stoned writing all this lol so yeah I just want to say you should legalise it already 🍁❤️
I’m for cannabis being made legal, however for me it doesn’t work, I got major anxiety and paranoia from smoking it daily, where as it helped my mates not stress about things as much.

At the end of the day, I don't believe cannabis is anymore dangerous than alcohol. What definitely DOES help, my freind - getting stoned allows your brain to process the fast paced madness constantly occurring in this world. All the pressures and responsibilities, and millions of other things....it helps alleviate those extra pressures. Of course, you wouldn't want to be stoned all day every day because even though literally everything is better on weed, it can (and does) slow down the process of progress. But same rules apply to a guy/woman who goes to work drunk all day, every day and he/she would suffer the consequences.

Dylan Morgan well, I have an idea for a ‘cannabis card’ where people apply for a card, and they are physically and emotionally assessed and given a monthly cap based on their physical and emotional state. Once they are given their card, they can transfer money from their bank account to their cannabis card. They can place as much money on the card as they like, but they can only purchase a certain amount of weed per month. This is to avoid psychosis or any other kind of long term effects. I think this works because it stops younger people from using cannabis and it regulates cannabis to a free, yet controlled extent.

What most people don’t understand is that the main reason young people can currently get weed is because it’s illegal meaning they can get however much off their friends or dealer. With it being legal there would at least be an added step in buying it from an official shop/ dispensary. I’d agree with getting a card since it would add another level of identification but I don’t think holding money on the card is necessary, it would just be bureaucratic. Plus the idea of only buying a certain amount is a bit like tip toeing forwards since some people smoke more than others and some smoke very little but regularly, there’s a huge difference between users. And frankly most of them have to go buy it off a shady guy and smoke as much as they have been doing for god knows how many years and have managed not to have some adverse psychosis effects. So I’d say provided it isn’t advertised like tobacco and there’s at least one hoop for you to jump through then it’s fine. My initial reaction was the same as Steve Soliz, however he was not doing it because he wanted to "experience it", he was doing it because he wanted to know what happens. If you become observational while consuming it, you become some sort of spectator, completely alien to the persona you have otherwise. If you engage and participate while consuming it, you might discover the "true" nature you have, and getting there takes engagement and free will. He was not there yet, in my opinion.

Alcohol and emotional distress are the primary triggers for most of us. Skunk is also called sinsemilla, which translates to "without seeds". A technique of growing cannabis where only the female is allowed to blossom without pollen from the male plant, the female blossoms produce no seeds and the theory goes that this form of growing gives a higher potency plant because the plant doesn't waste energy on growing seeds. That mixed with the hydroponics growing technique I guess.

They could actually be talking about synthetic cannabis aka "spice". Which is a product that got popular only cause you could smoke it and pass a drug test (and the effects were similiar to weed, from the beginning). Spice was ok to smoke in it's original form but then law regulators started making the chemical compounds illegal and it progressively got worse and worse when the companies making them created new formulas to stay ahead of the laws being written.
I don't really know about Britains history with spice but the swedish story is packed with controversy.
Now if they are talking about Spice and more importanly the current 2018 version of Spice, which in my opinion might as well be crack or heroin based on the physical addiction created by long term use. If they are talking about spice then that's just another argument for legalizing weed.
The reasons why we grow strong weed in Britain is because a) we don't have the climate and need to grow it inside but b) mostly due to it being illegal! It forces UK growers to grow small batches that don't normally raise suspicion and therefore need to be potent to counteract the small quantities that are grown.
Legalising weed will have no difference to recreational smokers. Anyone who wants to smoke weed today can easily get some as it's always available. In fact, I've heard we export to mainland Europe and if government knew the quantities that are being moved, it would be in the top three UK exports.

Skunk is more than just a strain name. Skunk is when the thc to cbd ratio is much more potent in thc (which causes psychotic episodes and paranoia) than cbd (which counters the negative side effects of thc consequently removing the chance of a psychotic episode or paranoia). This means that there is an elevated percentage of thc. as you said 14% and a significant decrease in cbd. Sometimes as low as 1%. with a ratio of 14%:1% there is a massively increased chance of experiencing the negative side effects than normal pure cannabis with the most common ratio of 4:5, Legalising would mean that the type of weed people are smoking is much safer to use and regulated.

I endure serious pain on a daily basis with my disabilities rather than use Fentanyl which i'm prescribed as it leaves me not knowing what's going on around me, asleep most of the time, & had near killed me twice stopping my breathing & another time coming off the stuff.... Cannabis not only helps with the constant pain from my disabilities & gives me the ability to sit upright in my wheelchair for longer periods without the pain becoming too much, but it also helps with my autism enabling me to socialize & communicate with far less anxiety than ever before in my life. but with the substance being illegal & unregulated it's potluck (lol) what you get from the streets, so i've found if you get some high CBD hemp trichomes & apply them to the high THC cannabis it levels it out in your system, or just use the CBD trichomes or oils if you feel you've had too much THC & it dulls the effect..... This needs to be legalized so people like me are not criminalized for trying to stay off harmful prescription drugs that have done lasting damage to my body & are a risk to my life... LEGALIZE MEDICINAL CANNABIS IN THE UK!
ian allen Amen man. Hang in there! Alot of us can relate. I have been diagnosed with Epilepsy where I have gran mal seizures on the regular. THC, and CBD are the only things that have generally helped me. The pharmaceuticals they gave me have had horrible side effects, almost to the point where I'd rather just have seizures then to take them. Its all just trial and error as well with these Pharmaceuticals..Talk about a nightmare. Cannabis isn't legal in my state as well, so I have to deal with getting it my own way :(

I know people who did change because of excessive usage so its possible, I seen psychosis and schizophrenia etc. But still. Its still patronising how channel4 thinks that human cannot be held accountable for their own actions. With their mindset, alcohol sigarets and sugar should all be banned too.
I have ADHD and Autism and when I started smoking cannabis there was a huge difference, my mood started getting better, depression and anxiety starts getting better and I don’t have it anymore because I started smoking cannabis and it has also made me be able to go to sleep at night, I remember that if I didn’t have a joint at night it would be harder for me to go to sleep, things will just play on my mind for ages like a stuck song in your head or conversations but when I have a joint before bed it makes me sleepy and I think positive thoughts then I fall asleep lol. I really think cannabis should be legalised for medical use and then eventually recreational, the thing that baffles my head is that alcohol and cigarettes are legal when they cause damage and are addictive, people may say cannabis is addictive but it’s not I remember when I didn’t have money so I had to go days without it yeah it was hard because I am a daily smoker but let me tell you I didn’t start going crazy and getting withdrawals it was just really hard but I did it because I can control it, I was stoned writing all this lol so yeah I just want to say you should legalise it already 🍁❤️

I came here expecting to hear ignorant comments on the dangers of cannabis but was pleased to find an intelligent, mature and fact-heavy discussion on the benefits and dangers of it.
At the end of the day, I don't believe cannabis is anymore dangerous than alcohol. In fact, I believe it is less dangerous and I'm very pleased that it is getting more and more positive coverage by the day.
Love the interview. He tried so hard to have them admit that cannabis is detrimental to ones health, cutting them off whenever it didn't match the narrative.
