I see this putter brand is making its youtube rounds.
We just launched in January - it's gonna market itself (unfortunately). Let's Roll!
This putter is super cool! I love seeing people actually try and do something different. Whether it succeeds or not is a different matter, but I love the innovation. I've been super tempted to get this putter.
Agree 💯
Not knocking on the improvements of this design but the base design has been around for a while. If you search "teardrop putter", you'll find the inspiration for this putter shape and design.
Much appreciated. It took years to get it right, and we understand not everyone is going to love it, but as long as we have a group of raving fans, and help them enjoy putting. That's all we are after..
@@SpoilerGolf website says right hand only.. no love for the lefty?
The teardrop putter returns.
Exactly!!! I played a teardrop blade for years until I smartened up and bought A huge putter , but the teardrop felt so good and rolled nicely, just needed more modern tech
I was going to make the same teardrop comment. Nothing new, just another round of marketing around it.
8mm? C'mon man
1/4"
What you said at the end it's completely right. I use a center shaft putter, you are using the lab putter, they say it's balanced and the putter is doing all the work for you. And then you mess up because you don't concentrate anymore. This putter it's good because you have to extra focus and makes you gaining strokes on the green. I always love to putt with my lob wedge. It's a great feeling and the ball really runs better great video. Thanks 👍
Couldn't agree more. You ahve to be super focused when putting, it's all about precision. We love our our Spoiler OG enhance your focus and creates a "mindful" state.
Thanks Gabe, great stuff, the weight loss is so evident, good job brother 👍👍👍😁😁
All that running between holes! 🤣🤣
Returned to this channel after a bit of a break and the difference was shocking! Good job Gabe!
This putter has made me better, I'm a 28 handicap and used to use a blade, the 3 putts have became 2, it does scoop the ball if I'm not central or balanced(I lack routine in my set up)
I've had mine for 3 months now it's been a great purchase
Thank you for your. support, David. We are glad our Spoiler OG has helped you become a better putter. Couldn't ask for anything more. Let's Roll!
*Great Review-- thanks for your effort. Current putter is Ping Anser-2, 2021*
That’s an all time classic
Great for skulling putts every time
only if your putting stroke stinks.
Reminds a little bit of the Teardrop design of the 90s. It had a rolled face. I'll stick with my Yes! Tracy putter. I love the feel and the grooves putts a nice roll right off the face.
No dudes I been practicing putting with the leading edge of my 60 degree wedge for many years and I could see how the roll of the ball starts immediately , I also invented wooden sandals for golf ! I should be a millionaire huh 🤔 well maybe or maybe not 😊 just saying and golf is great too !
I invented wooden sandals years before you 🤔
@@mikejones-go8vz I doubt it but I’m not in a race with you ! I’d say have a nice day but you seem like a jerk dude !
Many times I’ve left my putter in the car and happily use my PW. Feel wise is nicer and I actually hole out more than using a flat stick
Looking great Gabe! Let me know if you want to try out the Maltby TE+ Blacks. I’d be happy to send them over to you to continue your exploration of that great brand!
Thanks Joshua. May take you up on it
Gabe thanks for the video. FYI, I have an extra set of Cobra 3D irons for sale, still in box, 4-pw, KBS regular steel shafts and Lamkin stock grip, if you or any of your viewers are interested. I bought two sets and played my first round yesterday and they are awesome!!!! Have a good one.
How much?
@@Bhaddew 4300, but somewhat flexible. So far I've seen them on eBay for 4800 to 5k.
@@davidgolf3245wtf lol
A few years back there was a “teardrop putter” that was of similar design. It worked great but product would not sell.
Multiple generations of golfers probably don't even know.... this is an old idea in a new package. The Teardrop Putter, circa 90's
So it’s harder to use and we are all looking to make putting more difficult ? 🤔
There are no shortcuts to putting.
I actually have putted with my wedges and did real good with them. No joke! Ervin C.
Nice! For a full round?
Hence the creation of Spoiler OG!
I wonder how this putter does a few yards/feet off the green. My wife ALWAYs pull out her putter off the green. Which I commend her for but sometimes the ball hops on her. I wonder if this give her better consistency. I tend to have a love hate relationship with my putter. They tend to hate me when I am trying to save a par or bogey. lol. Great content!!
That’s a great idea, Carlos. A putter off the green is often a good idea. I’ll have to test it.
It's a wonderful putter as a Texas Wedge.
I always seems to putt better with my sand wedge, maybe I should give it a try.
Yes sounds like it’s right up your alley
Sand Wedges swing like heel shafted toe down putters. Maybe you'd like the way those swing if you haven't tried one lately.
You, literally, are the target audience. :)
30 years ago there was the Teardrop Putter.
It’s the same.
Love it
I tried this putter, loved it for every putt except very long putts. I kept hitting them into air, probably poor technique on my part but couldn’t figure it out.
Sounds like the issue I was having where I was driving the ball down into the ground at first.
We are happy to help you out with the long putts. Generally it's just a small ball position change, or smoothing out the stroke that gets the ball rolling silky smooth.
Another thought I had on putters is.........ALIGNMENT. Way more important than hopping and skipping. I see so many people buy putters that are popular but maybe not so much suited to their eye. Not sure why but Scotty Cameron Newports have never suited my eye. I have a helluva time starting a putt on the right line with them. Now, I know it's not the putter but there are others that are just automatic for me and in between the ears is a big part of the battle. Heck, if I never had a putt outside of ten feet I probably would use a plain old Bullseye putter. Dead on line every time but the distance control is terrible for me.
We made sure to make out alignment as BOLD as possible!
Unless your floating your balls or using a check go pro your always at the mercy of the weight of the ball as well the longer the putt of course the more it matters. I have a split grip left hand low right hand on top cobra 3d printed 34" with sik face technology right handed but a super stroke 3.0xl from a long putter which is chasing the same objective. You should mark your balls with the complete circle from a check go pro. Putt with that so we can actually see the true roll wether you make it or not 😉 the new callway triple tracks from the new plant are very true rolling with the triple tracks lines if you want an all in one solution.
Its weird reaching the age where you start seeing old things become new again.
Used to be a company in the 90s called Teardrop that made a roll-face putter. Fred Couples had a signature model. It was a nice putter. I really liked it. If I could find a decent one, I would probably buy it today.
I've also seen bargain bin putters that are just straight round tubes on the end of the shaft. This is nothing new. If it's weird, there's a good chance someone thought of it in the 70s or 80s.
Imagine, persimmon woods making a comeback. LOL! I'm 53 and one of my first sets of irons were the Tommy Armour 845. I got my handicap all the way down to 5 with those things. I took them out to the range with some new grips a few weeks ago........can't believe I ever thought they were good. Felt like every ball was a rock and I was right in the middle of the club face. So there is something to be said for the tech side of things but the gimmicks will always come and go ............and come back again. Remember the wedges that had a like an 120 grit face? Those things chewed through tour balatas like candy.
@@rbailey225it would be easy to paint a metal wood to look like a persimmon. I’m surprised we haven’t seen that yet. Would be cool.
@@LetsPlayThru This is one of the coolest ideas I've ever heard! Why hasn't anyone done that yet!!?? Good idea Gabe!
I love my ping answer 2 blade putter.
Cobra has been doing this with their putters for years
Easier and cheaper just to putt with the sand wedge (not kidding), and you can still keep the regular putter in the bag
agree to disagree. If it were easier to putt with a wedge, we would have continued to do that. But we designed Spoiler OG, after putting with a wedge for a year, to improve consistency and strike on the equator.
Something like this has been on the market before. It was some time ago I was a much younger man.
I putt with my wedge a lot.
Is this USGA or R&A conforming? I can't find anything saying yes or no on this. I'd be afraid to use this in a competition if it isn't. For casual golf this isn't a big deal of course but most people don't want to change putters from one game to another. It is odd but no weirder than some of the other 'game improvement' stuff on the market. I'm sure there was some scoffing when the first Anser came on the market.
As for weird putters, I have one that I had made a few years ago. It is non conforming so I only use it for scrambles or games where the goal is to be as goofy as possible. I'd post a pic of it but this isn't facebook.
Great question. Yes it is conforming according to the website.
Back in the 80's there was a putter called the Acu-Roll. It had a rounded face so the contact point was just slightly above the equator to avoid hopping putts. These gimmicks have been around for years.......either you can roll the rock or you can't.
The old Teardrop putter was similar. Negative loft putters are out there too. You can putt well with almost anything imho.
Curious, is everything different a gimmick?
@@rudyruiz9521 If it's different, no. This is 40 year old gimmick. This principle has been around since the eighties. If it were that game changing all putters would employ it. If it works for you, knock yourself out. I can't recite a study but I would venture a guess that more putts are missed offline compared to coming up short due to skipping and hopping. The majority of the time a putt is short it's just bad distance control.
So like a Teardrop Zebra putter, or a Cigar putter, its been done mate!
I top spin it with my regular blade putter..
It reminds me of the original putter my uncle produced in his mildly successful company, Pauli Putters. The original was like a thin horizontal bar with a circular disk on each end. It was like 4 wheel drive for putts in how the ball rolled and tracked. It also was great out of the grass just off the green in that there was less frontal resistance.
I’ll have to look that one up. Is there info online?
@@LetsPlayThru No, not really as he died a number of years ago. I'll reach out to my cousin to send me a picture that I can share with you.
I’m too much of a visual player and this would throw me off just looking at the face. BTW. Happy Father’s Day.
I bet you;d be surprised when you put it down and putt with it.
Doesn’t help that the greens were aerated recently.
Always one for something new. Looks good. You're looking very slim these days Mr. Don't disappear now 😉.
It is either Futuristic or Gimmick. Hard to really tell.
Brother can you get your hands on a set of the Kirkland irons for me!? lol I have the driver, wedges and putter but I can't find the irons anywhere without paying twice of MSRP on Ebay or something. I'll pay you for it!!!
Get a set of Maltby TS1-IMs…They are cheaper and better.
@@LetsPlayThru I know I know I'm just that weirdo that likes to be all matching even if it might not be best for my game. But so far I've been more than satisfied with Costco's products so if it's not broke don't fix it you know?
Still looking for the Left handed version...
It’s got eyes, should help big time 😬 only a fraction of the face of a putter touches the ball anyway, no different to this I imagine 🤔
How is this any different from round face putters of the past? Tear drop roll face came out like 30 years ago?
Def a similar concept
@@LetsPlayThru looks like Tear Drop still exist making current models with radial faces. A side by side review might be cool content?
much more of an "edge" vs a rounded face. Promotes more topspins/forward roll than a fully rounded face.
So I can just use my wedge 🤔
DF3 vs Spoiler, what's your choice~!
Don’t know about this product shape. I believe that a negative loft putter is the best putter to use to hole putts. Why because a slight downward “hit” “push” will make the ball roll on a tighter roll plus it will not break as hard as a putt that is hit with +3 loft. You need a tall face (taller than the golf ball and a -2 or -3 negative loft) think of a bowling ball, a professional bowler rolling the ball down in a negative loft throw. No other ball in the world goes down the lane in such predictable fashion than a bowling ball rolled by a professional.
Not gonna fix any normal putting issues. Still gotta hit the right line the right speed, and appears to be a little less forgiving than a lot of conventional putters if you make a bad stroke.
You do, indeed. But, Spoiler OG can get the ball rolling on line easier, and by reducing skid, your distance control becomes more predictable...
See Teardrop "roll-face" putters. Been around at least 40 years.
I appreciate this putter ISN'T $400 or $500. It isn't cheap at $300 but it seems like putters are getting way out of hand like drivers.
I agree. I thought it would be more expensive. I think that’s really reasonable for the R&D that they have put into it.
Putting is 99% confidence. If this putter infuses you with confidence, use it!!
Well said
Couldn't agree more.
So only 1% physical?
Yes. Prove me wrong.
Anyone can make a golf swing too. It’s the quality of swing and the quality of a putting stroke that matters. I understand what you’re trying to say but it’s more than 1%. Especially if you’re using inferior equipment. Otherwise golfers would still use blade putters.
Looks like a take on the old tear drop putter...of course more up to date...
Yes I can def see the similarities.
Neither Jack or Tiger used that kind of putter... ergo neither will I!
This is nothing new. I’m old enough to remember the teardrop brand putter
What the hell is a millimeter?
🫰this much
Blades all day bro
Wait... did he just use metric measurments.... and he's american?
Does anyone remember the ‘Teardrop’ putter from the 90’s? This is really not a new concept …🤔
The price at close to $300 is a swing & miss
We wish we could make it for less! But being a small start-up business, after years of R&D, it's hard to do it for much less. We hope to decrease price as we grow and find more success! That;s also why we are going DtC and not in stores, to keep the costs down for our customers.
Now imagine using your old putter with the ball placed forward... the problem isn't the putter face the problem is your contact area
Interesting but seems a little gimmicky
Hogan figured this out 80yrs ago
Do you lIke the look of it? Is the position comfortable? Is lining up natural? Once you make everything repeatable, and it works for you. Go for it. No matter if it's a Scotty or a piece of pipe welded to a rod
Confidence is key 🔑 for sure
@@LetsPlayThru love your channel and love that you actually take the time to respond to people. All the best Gabe
Green looks like they were punched. The ball will not roll smooth. The ball will bounce around.
$295
Nice of you to NOT put the flag back in...
Tried it not for me
Sorry, I don't need those designs. Practice putting often and learn how to putt well and you won't need all these crazy ideas.
Or don’t practice putting at all and only use your driver
Just use your sand wedge to putt🤦♂️
No it will not.
No matter the putter, I won’t make it soooo I’ll keep my regular one.
$295 is a pretty steep price to pay for an unproven platform that may or may not fit your putting style.
This is nothing new. Many putter like this in the back of golf magazines in the 1980s. They were like the X-ray vision glasses in comic books.
What a gimic.
No, obviously 🤦🏻♂️
No.
Junk, inconsistent launch and bounce off the ground is a variable no one needs
Our Spoiler OG helps you improve your putting stroke so that the ball does not hop/bounce. Most golfers use a traditional flat face putter, they apply all sorts of unwanted spin on the ball, unknowingly, when thy have inefficient putting strokes. With our Spoiler OG you get visual feedback, and can continually dial in your stroke to get better, and better, and better.
This style has been done so many times it’s ridiculous. Learn to putt the correct way, stop trying to find shortcuts. You can see in this video the skulling the ball in no way helps accuracy. The ball skips along the green for the first foot of so and then accelerates as the top spin kicks in from the skull. This isn’t always a good thing.
My theory is that if you use the same putter for several years you'll become one with it, and realize a new putter will just cost more money and time.
No!! Almost as ugly as the Futura.
I see chemtrails in the sky. Probably why your so out of breath
😂
There was a “roll face” putter out about 30-35 years ago. I tried it out in a golf store. Meh. 🫤 What’s old is new again
