  • Prof. Stout's scholarly work has inspired renewed interest in challenging the idea that business is about 'maximizing shareholder value' that is central to conventional wisdom about the role of business in society and the meaning of American capitalism. She argues that this idea, which has no genuine basis in law or practice, actually undermines the value of business for society.
    Prof Stout's presentation is part of an ongoing speaker series on Corporate Social responsibility sponsored by the Department of Communication and the Masters of Communication and Information Studies in Rutgers School of Communication & Information.
