@Cajun Swamp Fox, This has to be the best comment I seen to the way I think. I am glad to see that I am not the only one out there that thinks this way. This year I took a survey from my hunting friends and some family members on this ? If your allowed to have only one kind of Survival gun what would it be ? One person said he would pick his Ruger 44 mag hand gun, others said like their 30-06 rifle, or their shotguns etc... Guess with me it would depend I what kind of terrain I would be living in. Assuming if its North America or Canada this would be my top choice for a SURVIAL GUN. And I told them I would pick the over and under like you said. But I did say originally the 12 gauge bottom barrel like you said, and with that I would be able to hunt any small game animals including turkeys with that. Then my choice for the top rifle barrel would probably be the 444 Marlin, or 45-70 or 300 Win mag or 338 Win mag so I can hunt any big size game in North America with that. GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY.
30 30 rounds or two underpowered for their cost it's much more bullet per dollar that you could be getting Fiat you want more rounds at a cheaper price or you want a more powerful round at the same price
@@porkchopspapi5757 yes they'll do the job that's not what I'm saying I've killed many deer with an old 30-30 lever action Marlin but I'd rather spend that Dollar on a 308,6.5 Creedmoor ,30-06. You get longer range flatter trajectory and more takedown power with many other options mathematically speaking not the best choice.
Now Henry just needs to add an additional one in .45-70 with a 30" or 32" heavy octagonal barrel! I am very happy that they introduced the .44 with a 1 in 20" twist!
Octagon-to-round. And in .50-70! Break top buffalo gun! And I agree;1 in 20" twist rate for .44! That should help accuracy substantially especially for people who want to shoot heavy bullets more accurately. Never understood the common 1 in 38" in 44 lever actions?
Very nice. Decent selection of chamberings, but i agree there should be a 357 mag offered. It is so useful from a carbine. Other wishes: a 22 Hornet, something intermediate like a 25-06 (or 257 Roberts), maybe a 7mm-08, and just for fun, something esoteric like a 38-55, or maybe a 444 Marlin to go with the 45-70. That should be easy enough since they are making 44 barrels already. Just a matter of cutting the chamber. A 22 LR would be great for older kids and just plain fun shooting too. Looks like a great start though. Thank you, Henry.
Love mine, in .243. Once I got the scope dialed-in, I was able to send about 10 rounds , dead center, same spot that you can cover the group with a penny. Great looking, solid build, very accurate.
Would love to see one of these in a .22LR/.22Mag. Best first gun ever! Also glad they introduced a 30-30 model and 38/357. Add a .270 and a 30-06, then drop the mic; game over.
@@redmudpei Right? I saw the caption Henry Single Shot Rifle and thought, "Finally the gods of Henry have smiled upon us!!" Then it's just this generic break action rifle... Not even a falling block, I mean come on Henry. Disappointed.
If Henry would produce a color case hardened, solid steel framed Rolling Block rifle in calibers ranging from say .223 up to .45-110....I would be very, very tempted to break my long standing refusal policy against paying way too much for any of the other, currently available, overpriced Henry products.....
Especially for that price tag.... I know it's cheap in terms of big bore rifles but eh, not cheap enough for what it is... I got to borrow a 45-70 bodfish rifle... by far one of the most wonderful and comfortable guns I've shot... 900 yard iron sights dead on second shot. Just molded to me. It was heavy but you didnt notice it really. It was so well made once you shouldered it was solid.
This is really a nice looking rifle. The stock and locking lever are much better than those on my H&R Handi Rifle. BUT, H&R will factory fit barrels in various other calibers, allowing one action to be used with various calibers. Henry should offer that option, it would get me to buy one. Right now my H&R has bull barrels in .223 & .308 and sporter barrels in .22 Hornet, .30-30 & .44 Magnum. The H&R needs an upgraded stock, but that's a lot less expensive than buying five separate rifles. Come on Henry, let's get with it!
One thing in disappointed with is the absence of a spring loaded ejector. Also just glad Henry stepped up to provide us with a line of quality single shots since H&R stopped production. Always love my H&R collection but looking forward to a Henry chambered in 357
An ejector would completely eliminate it from Cowboy Action Shooting which will be a big market for it since suitable Handi Rifles are no longer available in the appropriate calibers. I also would like it in .357, but will enjoy my new brass 45-70 this weekend!
It's now available in 30-30 :) Being able to handload it with pointed bullets would be awesome. That would really bring out the potential of the 30-30 and make it a longer range rifle. Also the 30-30 is an excellent cast bullet cartridge and someone who likes to cast lead bullets it's just about the right size chamber for reduced loads. The 308 is sometimes just too much rifle and unnecessary for deer and for someone who is just getting into shooting it's too hard on the shoulder.
@mann I believe the twist rate on the 30-30 and the .308 are the same for most manufacturers. 1-12 Not sure about Henry yet. I just looked it up and you are right. Henry uses 1-10 on the .308 and 1-12 on the 30-30. 🤔
@mann You have a point there. It would depend on the individual and their specific needs. It's almost a toss up to me. I have hundreds of 30-30 brass and .308 also. I quit hunting big game and only shoot for the fun of it now. I play with lead bullets at times and like shooting guns with the recoil no more than a 30-30. I load the Russian 7.62x54 down to 30-30 velocities also and shoot it out of a mosin 91-59 carbine. The 30-30 uses American size bullets (.308) and it's easy to find. As I mentioned before the case capacity of a 30-30 is perfect for cast bullets. Some powders are finicky about the pressure it burns at and do better when the pressure is raised up to certain levels. The smaller the case the higher the pressure will be. Loading down the .308 or the Russian will sometimes cause problems.
I've been waiting on a video with this rifle. I love a single shot, and that looks like one nice rifle. I wish you had also included the 45-70 in your review. That'll be on my wish list.
One thing on the 44 mag singles is it has a better twist rate for heavier bullets than their, lever 44 mags. Wish they would over their 44 levers in the same twist as the single shot.
I'm glad you shot the .308 with the open sights. The scope is an add on, but it's always good to have back up sights. Just about ready to pull the trigger on a .243.
Been gawking at single shot rifles online for the past day or two and came across this line of rifles from Henry. Buddy that .308 might have to be the next purchase for me. Great video and great shooting!
Thanks for sharing. These are some beautiful single-shot rifles with good options. You introduced me to these rifles and I'm happy to say I purchased the rifle in 308. I've been looking for one with open sights and like the ones provided on the H015.
Got my daughter a .243 Henry youth single shot handi rifle with a composite stock and scope, to deer hunt when she was a kid. Now she's grown, It's become one of my own go-to rifles, especially in the rain or, if I have to climb or walk a long way. Always gets the job done, me and her both kill deer with it every year.
I finally got a chance to shoot my .243 single shot. It may be my most accurate rifle. I also found out the hard way that low scope rings won't work. Must use at least a medium height. I love this handy little rifle.
Henry really needs to hook up with a custom shop with this one. I'd like a .41 mag and a .22 k-Hornet, I see in the comments a lot of good calibers that people have listed. I also like the idea of a rolling block.
He kept calling it "their little handy rifle" but I didn't see him fire a 45-70 Buffalo Bore from this 7.5 pound rifle, probably more than a little recoil.
I hope this will be my next Henry rifle. Sadly they are rare and hard to find in Austria but since I got my Leveraction I just love Henry products as they are on par with most european brands!
They need to make this gun in every caliber to make everyone happy. If they ever make this rifle gun in the 375 H&H or the 416 Rigby will get one for sure. I did e-mail Henry on this and they replied back and they said they probably will not make this gun in those high calibers.
Seeing these pop up in .450 Bushmaster. Definitely going to pick up a couple for me and my son. I hope Henry decides to make them in .444 Marlin, I think that caliber would sell pretty good in the Eastern States that have the straight wall cartridge requirements for big game hunting. They could have a tri-fecta with 45-70, 444, and 450 BM.
Good Luck finding finding a 45-70 Haha and don't count on Henry's customer service...waste of time with horrible customer service...trust me. Over two hours of my life gone and many miles of checking out gun shops. I will be ordering a single from CVA or TC so thanks Henry for the experience but now other firearm companies will be receiving my money over whatever years that I have remaining.
I recently had the opportunity to look one of these over at Jay's in Gaylord MI and I was very impressed with the quality. I would like to see this rifle in 7mm-08. Also the hunters in the Michigan Limited Firearms zone would probably love to see it in 450 Bushmaster, which is the largest most powerful straight wall cartridge allowed. With the quality of the Henry, it would compete very well with the Ruger American in the same caliber.
I looked on the Henry website and saw that the 44 Mag model has a 1-20 twist. I bought the Big Boy lever gun and was disappointed that it has a 1-38 twist, I can't shoot anything heavier than a 210gr cast bullet.
Please please please make this rifle in 350 legend. Also you now have a beautiful opportunity to take over the switch barrel market that Remington threw away. This is my only wish for Christmas! 🎄
@@DeepOwl1073 I saw that last week. Good move on their part. I actually contacted them through their engineering dept request email address. They said I was not alone by a long shot. I also requested a legend lever gun.
Every deer I’ve ever taken was with a single shot rifle... one that takes best part of a min to reload, and fires with flint.and about ten years now only ones with out rifling:)
I've been wanting one ever since I saw them on the Henry website! I need one to go next to my Golden Boy. If the quality is anything like the Golden Boys and other lever action Henrys I've had the pleasure of seeing, it will be one fine rifle!!!
The standard Weaver 82 makes things a bit more difficult. You need higher mounts and its doesn't sit as well as this 223 does. Emailed Henry as I'm in another country and as of yet have had no reply. Little bit disappointed, but then I look at it and I smile. I'll just have to make due until I can get one of those rails into the country.
@@gavinm1347In my state none of the are legal for deer hunting. .45-70 is. We have to use shotguns with slugs or straight walled case cartridges like .357 mag, .45 colt, .44mag. The only actual rifle cartridges legal are .444 marlin or .45-70. The .45-70 doesn't do as much meat damage as you think.
travis cochran what state Ohio or Pennsylvania? I’m sorry to hear that. I’ve hunted New England moose with my 45-70 and boy does it take a chunk out. I’ve even taken a couple bear with it. Why would your state put such a stupid law in place?
@@gavinm1347 The State is Iowa. Only in the last couple of year have they allowed the pistol carbines. Before that it was only Shotguns, muzzle loaders and handguns. A lot of Iowa is very flat farm land with wooded areas being mostly waterways and draws. The North and south corners are a little different. Given the openness of the terrain and population density hi-power rifles were just out. Back in the 70's and 80's we were not allowed to even use rifles shotgun barrels or choke tubes.
travis cochran that’s very sad. Why wouldn’t you use 44 mag for deer instead of 45-70. Imo 44 mag is perfect for under 100 yards. 44 mag is better for price too I hate the 2$ per shot of the 45
For the love of the lord on high, I hope Henry comes out with a combo gun like Rossi did years ago. Pair the .223 Rem , .243 Win, 357 Mag and 44 mag with the 20 gauge shotgun barrel, and the.308 Win/30-30, and 45-70 with a 12 gauge barrel. I'd readily hand over $500 for that.
Hey Plinkster, did you get the TWRA email with the survey asking if you would want to be able to use single shot .35 caliber and up traditional rifles during ML season? This rifle would potentially fit into that category right?
A modern single shot without an auto eject isnt worth buying. You guys in the south may not care about this but once you get into cold weather or hunting with gloves on you are going to want that ejector.
Charles McKinley T/C Encore is alright, but the barrel prices just keep reaching for the stars. The Encore is not as comfortable to shoot as an H&R, or the Henry, as their stocks are pretty much the same as most rifles/ shotguns. And to get a .405 Winchester in something other than a skinny 24inch twanger barrel I have to go to after market manufacturer and they want three times what T/C charges. I’ve got three H&R’s, so I will start buying Henrys.
Valladon 13 why one in 7.62x39 when you can just buy an sks I mean there is nothing wrong with Henry guns or 7.62x39 cartridge just saying that an sks probably be better but hey it your preference
@@hankshepherd2.086 SKS's are cool, but some people just enjoy shooting single shot rifles. I have a nice AK, but I would probably buy one if these in x39 if they offered it.

Please make for more rimmed chamberings! 22 Hornet, 5.6x57r, 6.5x57r, 7x57r, 8x57r, 9.3x74r... The Europeans really got those right rather than trying to make .308W and .243W working in a break action rifle

Just picked up the 223/556 today. Looking forward to shooting it. Really want the 350 legend eventually
i want one in 500 s&w magnum. would love it for nice brush deer gun. missed my chance buying the h&r in this caliber .would not miss a new henry.
I have the .223, 30-30, and .357mag versions. Awesome rifles. Looking forward to trying the 357 on some hogs this year.
I looked on the Henry website and saw that the 44 Mag model has a 1-20 twist. I bought the Big Boy lever gun and was disappointed that it has a 1-38 twist, I can't shoot anything heavier than a 210gr cast bullet.
What a clear picture on this video!
Henry couldn't have chosen a better spokesman!!🎤🔫
With the 45-70, what kind of chamber pressures can it handle?
Pat Throwback Bear Putnam they told me anything a marlin can shoot
Logan Waltz Very cheap?
Wife mortgage and 3 kids worth of pressure
Would love to see one chambered in .30-06.
Want one now 👍🏽. I want a 223 version. I was wanting H&R model years ago but no longer made, Rossi neither.
Henry should make a single shot 270 and 30-06
I would love to see this in an all weather finish.
I love my Henry X 45-70!!
I'm glad they did it in .243. I love the .243. I want this rifle
Everyone seems to really enjoy this gun much more than you would think.
Please please please make this rifle in 350 legend.
Also you now have a beautiful opportunity to take over the switch barrel market that Remington threw away. This is my only wish for Christmas! 🎄
Now available in 350 Legend and 450 Bushmaster!
@@DeepOwl1073 I saw that last week. Good move on their part. I actually contacted them through their engineering dept request email address. They said I was not alone by a long shot. I also requested a legend lever gun.
@@blaws6684 awesome that they listen to their consumers!
@@DeepOwl1073 my thoughts exactly
Love to see 6.5 sometime soon , THANKS HENRY
223 is fun
Great presentation and nice shooting. Thank you.
Every deer I’ve ever taken was with a single shot rifle... one that takes best part of a min to reload, and fires with flint.and about ten years now only ones with out rifling:)
I would love it if they made a rifled single shot 20 and 12 gauge rifles. Also just a thought but single shot pistols.
I've been wanting one ever since I saw them on the Henry website! I need one to go next to my Golden Boy. If the quality is anything like the Golden Boys and other lever action Henrys I've had the pleasure of seeing, it will be one fine rifle!!!
I ordered one in 30-30, will be here this week!
You need to make one in a 30-06.......I'd definitely buy it
I definitely want one in 45-70 and I think a 243 or 308 r be a great first gun for my son
I think this is on my short list for new deer rifle. I am leaning heavy towards .45-70.
.45-70 for deer? What deer are you hunting. All you need for deer is a 30-30, 270, 06, but 45-70 ya not gonna have any meat left?
44 mag is better for price too I hate the 2$ per shot of the 45
Great looking/shooting rifles. It's now on my list.
Gorgeous rifle, especially in steel receiver. IMO well priced. 😍😍❤️❤️❤️
Great vid!!! Henry makes beautiful rifles!!! Any plans on a .300 Win Mag in the single shot or long ranger?
A compact .308 would be a great little saddle gun. Like 36 inches long
A 300 Winchester short magnum with a heavy bull barrel would be awesome
Getting a 44. Maybe a 30/30 too. These look awesome for the price
30-06 should of been included
Plus a shell ejector should be at least an option or made to activate / deactivate
So the rifle has been released in 30-30 now. Probably my next purchase. PS you are a heck of a shot.
How about one of these in 45 Colt, Henry?
These calibers are getting so high, soon we may get a 50 BMG single-shot rifle!
Side by side 45/70 in the future?
Nice!!
Will I ever get my 44mag that has been on order for 8 months ?
How 'bout 6.5 Creed?...
A modern single shot without an auto eject isnt worth buying. You guys in the south may not care about this but once you get into cold weather or hunting with gloves on you are going to want that ejector.
Logan TheRedOne I live in Georgia and I agree with you! I want a gun to eject the hull out of my way when I fire a round so I could reload quickly!
I wish this was available in the 38-55.
Either 44 mag or 308 I'm certainly getting one.
Hope they make one in 327 federal- can’t afford the 700 dollar lever but maybe a single
I want one in 327 Federal that can also shoot 32 S&W, 32 S&W Long and 32 H&R. I'd love to shoot the 32 S&W out of a rifle.
A Custom Contender barrel would be a better option. Check out Bellm TC.
Yep - Should be a great combination.
The brass receiver, of course, has a brass receiver ...................This dude is a godamned genius!
Very nice Video ! I like that rifle a lot, because of its simplicity.
Those scallops by the rear of receiver ala Win. mod.12 & 94 .Nice.
Does the single shot rifles have any form of automatic ejector, or do you have to remove the spent case by hand?
Gadamlu No, it's an extractor. Ejector would be nice though
Where's the 45-70?
His shoulder couldn't stand anymore on that day, hahaha, save the 45-70 for another day
Awesome rifle
Would Love one in 7.62x39
Philistine.
And 762 by 54R
Valladon 13 why one in 7.62x39 when you can just buy an sks I mean there is nothing wrong with Henry guns or 7.62x39 cartridge just saying that an sks probably be better but hey it your preference
@@hankshepherd2.086 SKS's are cool, but some people just enjoy shooting single shot rifles. I have a nice AK, but I would probably buy one if these in x39 if they offered it.
Please leave feedback on their website (I can't link it here but they have a feedback page) and we can make it happen guys. Spread the word if you can.
Please make for more rimmed chamberings! 22 Hornet, 5.6x57r, 6.5x57r, 7x57r, 8x57r, 9.3x74r... The Europeans really got those right rather than trying to make .308W and .243W working in a break action rifle
Cool rifles! Watching you throw spent brass on the ground, made this video tough to watch ;)
Can you put that optics rail on the single shot shotguns as well?
Love to have one of these in a 243 or a 308 fit in right nice in my Henry Lever Action collection.
