If you drive by Wacken at every time of the year and listen closely, you can always hear the voice of 80 thousand people singing this song.
There's a story that one year Blind Guardian didn't attend the festival and the song was shortly teasered on one of the video walls. Everyone stopped what they were doing, sang the full song together and only after resumed what they were doing.
The singer's name is Hansi, but i *think* the crowd is chanting "Guardian" there; that's what I always heard anyway.

I've always been told I should listen to Blind Guardian , never had though , until I saw this video. Brought tears to my eyes. Having a song completly sang by the audience is so awesome!

Nice to have you back and with such a nice band as well! Could I suggest Wheel of Time to you or maybe The Ninth Wave? Or anything of Blind Guardian really. They have much to offer and it's such a shame that everybody stops at the Bard's song and Valhalla. Not that those two aren't great but there is more to discover!
Yes! The Ninth Wave quickly grew to be one of my favorite songs.
Blind Guardian is amazing. a lot of their stuff is largely based around the Tolkien Legendarium Lord of the Rings, Time Stands Still (at the Iron Hill) and Nightfall come to mind, all based around Lord of the Rings (obviously) The Hobbit and the Silmarillion, they even incorporate Sauron's Poem 'The One Ring' from the books into the Lyrics of Lord of the Rings.
their best album "imaginations from the other side" are about OZ...
There are very few bands where the lead vocalist can just stop singing 30 seconds from the end and the crowd will finish the song without any problems, and nailing a ritardando in the process too.

I have seen Blind Guardian several times live....in a small club with 300 people or at a Festival with 20k+ People.....they always deliver the same energy
My Date with Nightwish was also postphoned....sharing the pain.....

The Bard's Song has a lonely feel to it because it is meant to give off that vibe, he is a Bard singing about other Bards and how at the end of the day, no one remembers the Bard, but everyone remembers The Bard's Song. it's even in the chorus. "Tomorrow will take us away, Far from home, No one will even know our names. But the Bard's Songs will remain. Tomorrow, All will be know, That your not alone, So don't be afraid of the Dark and Cold. Cause the Bard's Songs will remain."

It's just a little bit "sad" that you didn't do the double feature with "Valhalla". It would have surprised you, hearing it directly after "The Bard's Song". Completely different, but also with an insane crowd interaction.
Btw.: Andre Olbrich was ranked 76 out of 100 Greatest Heavy Metal Guitarists of All Time by "Guitar World".

Glad you are back and great reaction. If you want a great Blind Guardian song to react to, I suggest my personal favorite: "Nightfall" live at Wacken 2011. This is a song from their masterpiece album Nightfall in Middle Earth. It is based on the works of Tolkien and it tells the events of the First Age and the Doom of the Noldor Elves. This is what started the events that culminated in the Lord of the Rings in the Third Age. Great song and again, amazing audience participation.
Cannot wait for you to do Valhalla, man... bring tissues to that one 🤘

Welcome back, Viking, great to see you again! If you're planning to do more Blind Guardian (and potentially have watched and enjoyed Villeneuve's Dune), may I recommend "Traveller in time", again from Wacken, but in 2007?

Saltatio Mortis with "Spielmannsschwur" (Fiddlers Oath) live at Wacken 2017. Folk- / Medieval-Metal by another German band. It's during the day and the crowd needs a some secons to sing along, but then ...

They all The Beautiful Queens heavy metal band right now in the earth. They are really really Genius and World class musicians. Phenomenal.

Not enough honey or fermented too long. This one still has some sweetness and is very refreshing :)

@@VikingReacts We realized that, after we measured the alcohol concentration ^^ So we filtered it, resweetened it with honey, one with vanilla, one with a lemon (all in different bottles) and it turned out pretty good.

Why would you stop that video in the middle? Almost all of the other RUclips reactions are going the full distance, and for a reason - as the release of a double-song clip suggests, they kinda belong together. Especially when it's about comparing it to the Sabaton audience chants during "Livstid" because this audience participation is what the whole clip is about, especially the end of "Valhalla". I'm pretty sure no one suggested to break off a clip in the middle ...
I never noticed it was a double song video. I was startled and stopped without thinking of doing a double reaction. And... as this is a first time listen... how would I have known they belong together??
@@VikingReacts I thought someone recommended the video (usually most fans will provide you with the link to the clip as there are many versions of a lot of songs - I guess you know that already). In this case, probably not everyone has mentioned the full title but I thought if people recommend a specific version, then there's a reason for that. I mean, you did good, though, anyway - just struck me as odd as this video is one of the most reacted to on RUclips and I have never seen another reactor just break it off in the middle of the whole momentum going on. But you might still want to give it a listen, even offline. "Valhalla" is certainly far from being their best (it was released on their second full length album in 1989 when the band was still finding their style) but it became a live favorite and works very well that way. The original album version is a bit more outdated because BG were still a few years away from their mid-career groundbreaking albums (Somewhere far beyond/ Imaginations from the other other side/Nightfall in Middle-Earth) where almost every song has insanely high standards. Maybe you can continue your journey one day, it's worth it. Have a sunny week! ;-)

hey how long did it take you to grow your beerd ?
I've had it for years but only grew it out this long about 2 years ago. I actually just trimmed about 5cm/2inches off to make it a bit healthier. This should be about 1,5 to 2 years growth.

In this case... it was all about the involvement from the audience. It can not be overrated if so many people take part and share in the experience. It is doing exactly what music should be doing. And hey... you clicked the video ;)
@@VikingReacts yea but I didn't watch. I purpose avoided this song and vallhalla because I knew everyone and thier grandmother reacted to it. I think I did it, AFTER I had explored the band prior.
I find at often times, the songs over requested are not usually the best.
@@TheRealMediaMan ah, I get it. This one was done because of my comments on "En livstid I krig" by sabaton. I mentioned that it must be awesome to have a crowd sing a song back to you. That is why this was recommended.

And it's so frustrating because there's soooo much more that is immensely better than this and yet it's all I ever see.
