For Kailash' Rudrabhishek Kathmandu June 2025 || Kailash Darshan
Ngari Gunsa Airport (4274m.) is the fourth highest Airport in the world which provides dual services to military and general public. It formally began its operation in 2010. This Airport is situated in the town of Shiquanhe (Ali) in Ngari Prefecture situated in the southwest of China's autonomous region of Tibet hence it is also called Ali Airport. 2 hours of direct flight from Ali Airport takes us to Lhasa from where we can drive 200 km to reach Lake Manasarovar. It is a gigantic Lake and it takes three full days just to go around its periphery. Mount Kailash is also nearby Manasarovar Lake.
Mount Kailash Manasarovar:
The reverential sanctum, Mount Kailash is situated at an altitude of 6714 m above sea level. It is worshiped as the holy abode of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati by Hindu people. To perform Kailash Circumlocution called Kailash Parikrama is a way to obtain Salvation: Mokshya as per myths and religious scriptures. Tibet has become a world famous pilgrimage destination for Hindus, Buddhists, Jain and Bonpos as it is home to Mount Kailash and Manasarovar Lake. They accept the arduous journey to this sacred site with a hope of getting blessings from gods and goddesses. Despite the differences in beliefs about Mount Kailash, the ultimate faith of devotees is on the existence of superior power in the Kailash region. Kailash Parvat is worshipped as the savior of the entire universe. The four great rivers of Asia namely, The Brahmaputra, The Ganges, The Indus and The Sutlej River also have their origin at this snow covered peak mountain.
We can see a crowd of devotees, saints and Lamas circumnavigating around Manasarovar Lake. It is situated at an altitude of 4,850m above sea level. As Mount Kailash is believed to be the dwelling of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, Manasarovar Lake is said to be the bathing pond of these deities by Hindus. It is said that one can see god Shiva at this pond during some special full moon night time. Lord Shakyamuni is believed to have obtained Enlightenment meditating on the bank of this Lake. Hence, this Lake is often termed as Lake of Enlightenment. The name of this Lake also has the same meaning in Sanskrit language as Lake of Consciousness.
The outer appearance of Kailash Parvat is also unique like that of a handle of a millstone. We can see the Buddhist symbol ‘Swastika’ in the southern part of this rocky peak. A single glance upon this divine peak is believed to bring good fortune. Those who cannot circumnavigate the Kailash Parvat can simply rotate the initial spot called Yam Dwar and return back. Kailash Yatra via the route of Nepal begins from Kathmandu. We take a flight to Lhasa and after we reach Lhasa we drive towards the Kailash region. After completing Kailash Parikrama, we stay one night at Darchen and the next day fly to Lhasa. Staying one night at Lhasa, we fly back to Kathmandu in the next morning
