Good morning guys, 7:30 here and this was a great way to start my day, a double reaction to Emily. Emily has done 181 videos and this is one of the very few where she isn't playing an instrument. In fact she thanks Simon Tomkins her guitar teacher for giving her the " freedom to twirl ". The song goes by in a heartbeat and I think it is a little up tempo from the original, with over a million views now it's fascinating how she can pluck this song from the 1960's and make it resonate today. Do I dare say she put her own "spin" on it. Sorry, it's not the twirling or spinning it is that gorgeous voice . 'Ever Since' is, as you say, about her brothers absence for two years, but Emily has said she wanted to write it in a way "that anyone missing anyone could relate" and I think she succeeded. Quite an accomplishment for a fourteen-year-old at the time of writing. To be able to take a specific personal experience and make it open to others is a writing gift that will be so important to her going forward. Most people listening would think this was about a romantic interest and I think they even leaned into that a little with the video. There is an easter egg Emily put into the video to refer to her brothers and sharp-eyed Emily fans would have spotted it, but I'm not giving it up if they haven't. Hi Psi and Bella, it's Mick in the UK. A "double whammy" today so thank you, and thank you Clint for suggesting. Many have said that Emily sings I Only Want To Be With You faster than Dusty, but it must be an aural illusion, if there is such a thing. Emily's version runs for 2.37,and Dusty's 2.36, so you tell me???? Emily has always said "you can't beat Dusty." Maybe so, but Emily puts in a fabulous performance with her warm, smooth vocals. Regarding Ever Since, she first performed this song live on Mark Lloyd's Radio Show on Dubai Eye Radio in March, 2022, with just her vocals and guitar. At the time, fourteen year old Emily hadn't even given the song a title, but Ever Since appeared to be the obvious choice. I loved the song even then in its basic form. Emily eventually recorded and uploaded the song in June, 2022, but without a video. Her fans loved Ever Since, but without a video it didn't have the same impact. The video was arranged but with delay after delay, it wasn't completed and uploaded until April, 2023. The original upload was eventually taken down, and the new video gained momentum. In the completed video you can mainly see Emily as a fifteen year old, but there are snippets where you see Emily singing at the microphone. This is where you see Emily as a fourteen year old, the year before, recording the song. Ever Since is a fabulous song, as Clint has already said, based on Emily's time apart from her two older brothers who live in Norway,, due to Covid restrictions. The siblings were apart from Christmas 2019 to Christmas 2021 when the three of them got together again and recorded their amazing version of The Beatles' Let It Be.
