I’m a hunter-I’ve been prowling the streets of New York City since 1971-hunters aren’t necessarily confrontational, but we can be when necessary-we take a stand and defend it-which is necessary. I use an 85mm f/1.8 and photograph at 5 feet-people see me photographing them and either ignore me or put a hand up and tell me not to-no harm, no foul. Interesting Video, I enjoyed it.
Thank you 🙏🏽 Wow photographing since 1971 that’s just amazing. A lot of change on the streets I can imagine 📸 85mm at 5 feet must give you some interesting compositions 👀
@@hipster_cph You’re welcome. I think that the 85mm is a good focal length, not too telephoto as to be “creepy” as some people would claim, but not so close that I can smell people. On my Sony A6400 the lens is the focal length of 127.5. Yes, New York City has changed very much from the grittiness of Times Square to it now being Disney Centric. I enjoyed your video very much, I think I’ll subscribe and check your content as time allows. Cheers!
I feel a lot more comfortable letting people come into my space than me ”intruding” into theirs. Also I’m shooting mostly at 50mm or longer. Everything can change with experience and even with buying a new lens or camera with a new focal length. Some years ago my favorite focal length was 135mm. Now I can compose photos with 35mm which is a big change for me. Thank you for sharing your style of street photography. I really enjoy the process.
Thanks Michaela 💚📸 Change is really great for growth and keeping things interesting. I haven’t tried the 135mm. But wanted to try the 105 for a long time :)
I am certainly a "hunter" although I do sometimes do some "fishing." My go to focus lengths are the 35mm and 50mm. I have tried different focal lengths from 20mm to 85mm and feel most comfortable with 35mm and 50mm. Some days I feel more comfortable getting closer to my subjects while other days I like to get more of the environment surrounding my subject. I have been enjoying your content. Look forward to what you put out next.
