- We're refacing our existing brick fireplace and in this video we're going to kick off our family room renovation series! Renovating the fireplace will be the first major project in this space. To start, we're framing a new metal stud wall with drywall and cement board over our existing fireplace.

I've been thinking of doing almost the same thing. Super helpful!
Glad this is helpful!! We couldn’t find much on this when we were researching! Good luck
I see a new LKS video, I CLICK. ❤
🖤🖤🖤 thanks for watching!
Can I use this around my wood burning fire place? Some one told me that framing around it could be a fire hazard. Please help
Wondering the same thing
As always top notch! Can’t wait to see the end product! Do you mind sharing room dimensions without the bay window area? Thank you!
Thank you! And yes, the room is 17’-6” wide (at the fireplace wall) and 16’-0” long
@@thelksaddressThank you!
I don't want to sound to dense but what is the white box for? Where/how are you going to run the electrical/outlet for the tv? Great job! You have my full attention :-)
That is a data box to hold the pvr, receptacle and cable/data jacks. It's a nice touch for a finished look. You won't or shouldn't see it behind the TV.
Did you guys hire a camera man?
I don’t know her name, but the girl in this video is super talented way to go the time lapsed visuals along with the no-frills explanation works perfectly. I didn’t get bored, and I actually watched a video all the way through nicely done.
No camera man, just me and my husband! Thank you so much! We really appreciate hearing feedback like this
Beautiful! What did software did you use to render the 3D image?
thank you! we use Enscape to render, it works with 3D modeling programs Sketchup & Revit
Did yall secure the metal studs to the wall or just to the tracks?
Just to the tracks!
What is the reason you used metal framing instead of wood w/ cement board?
It’s a wood burning fireplace so the material around the firebox needs to be non combustible (metal)
Hi @@thelksaddresscould I do just around the fire box metal and the rest wood studs?
What aspects did you find most difficult about the actual construction with these materials (after the rigors of project planning!)?
Trying to keep everything square and level! Also trying to think about the best way to attach all of the metal studs together since we are more used to working with wood studs
Back braces to do framing? hahahahahaha
We’re old 😂😂😂
Hang a plumb line!
We definitely should have
