I remember seeing one of his videos around 7-9 years ago of a British Redcoat attack on a town held by American revolutionaries in a Men of War Assault Squad 2 video lol, forgive me for being trite, but time flies so fast
@@JosStorm funny you mention that because he was doing Total war lets plays and playing Warband. Yet suddenly he had a frenzy orgy w/ men of war assault squad 2, seemingly played that video after video for the next 2 years. Sometimes I check up on him man crazy how I was 12-13 years old
Amazing to see. Had one great uncle killed in this battle, no idea what happened just vanished, his brother a year later during Passchendaele via a bullet in the head which didnt kill him for 2 days. Third brother was my great grandad, survived being wounded at oppy wood then had to go fight in the second war as well having being an extremely young old contemptible, joined the army in 1913. Hardest men i've ever met.
Been watching Diplex ever since I was in elementary school and now I’m in High School. Thank you so much Diplex for all the entertainment for the past years 🥹
Men of war 2 and this now are a pure Legend for battles like 1800 and up. Especially gates of hell has more immersive sound ambient of battle voices of soldiers while fighting like a movie and better explosion and picture war
The last thing that this game needs work on is the AI mechanism. I don’t think it would be that hard to fix. Just simple algorithms to push to the next piece of cover. With speed patches quick or slow eg. Only thing holding this game back.
Kinda weird to watch when soldiers get hit by a bullet and just keep fighting. Sometimes even get more than one bullet and then just turn and walk away.
Hey Diplex would you be willing to send me the screenshots of these videos you are doing on my mod. I would love to use them as the mod menu photos for the workshop
Personally I think it could be a cool idea for the WW1 mod is a series of battle during the French civil war from the world of the kaiserreich mod in the hearts of iron games
Interesting. Not too sure about the accuracy. The British tended to advance in waves, one platoon in line followed by others, In the video ment were moving up by sections in columns (worms) which wasn't normal until later in the war. Of course it depends on when during the Somme Campaign this is set and, maybe where. Most of the ground is rolling chalk downs while this battlefield seems ot be flatish. On top of Bazentin Ridge perhaps, but then there was the circle of woods around the open ground to the east of High Wood. Comments and thoughts welcomed
The slow lines thing is slightly a myth, yes they did do it but when no mans land was up to a mile wide and couldnt be ran across or when behind a captured line bringing up supplies. Mostly they did dash in the first waves, especially the ulsters at the somme who hid in no mans land before zero hour then flew through the german trenches. You can actually see how they moved because they filmed it on the first day for the somme documentary (among some fake recreated stuff) near Beaumont-Hamel, real footage from a distance of men advancing through the fields. Agree with your comment though
@@Ukraineaissance2014 Agreed, the tactics on 1 July were far more varied than most people realise. I8 Div went into no man's land and uses mortars which helped them take their objectives. A battalion of the Manchesters on the right flank basically lost no men. The real failuer was on the left of the Bapaume road where Hunter-Weston totally b******d up his attack but the real problem was that they expected far too much from the artillery barrage.
@@Dav1Gv yes good points, the successes, particularly the french and the british near them on 1st july are largely ignored and it was mainly an artillery failure, through using too much shrapnel shells instead of high explosive and primitive combined artillery/infantry tactics and communication. The bbc documentary Other side of the wire is great on these sort of smaller details, definitely recommend it. edit: Hunter Weston's name seems to come up in every book I read about ww1 when it comes to incompetence, I will have to research him a bit.
I'd hoped to hear.. we're gonna see some British, we saw the French yest but they've surrendered already so we have to go save them twice in a generation lol. Good vid
Hey Diplex, I was wondering if you would want to use a map I made? I made it on MOWAS2. It is a large Ukrainian town with a fortified hill behind it, trench lines stretch across the map. Could be used for a Russian assault or whatever you please! Hit me up and we can talk details! I’ve been watching for years and I love your MOWAS2 / GOH videos. Keep up the great work man. :)
I've just recently got into PC wargames, used to play Board Wargames, in early 1980's, so you can see I'm like a Methusela !!!!! LOL. But the mod you have done is FANTASTIC, I'm from England, I'm a History Fanatic, and my grandfather was in 1st W.WAR, after that War, then lived through Blitz, my mother was 8, living through the London Blitz, he died years later, from mustard gas poisoning. WHAT YOU HAVE DONE WITH THIS MOD, IS ABSOLUTELY, AMAZING, and although late for the party, I will definnetly, be getting this, SO THANK YOU SO MUCH, the team or whoever, and DIPLEX. AGAIN STUNNING. P.S. Although Obviously serious Subject, I could imagine seeing BLACKADDER, & BALDRICK RUNNING FORWARD IN THIS !!!!!! LOL Steve from London
I love this mod the only thing that bothers me in this video is the high amount of machineguns realisticly there were only around 4 machineguns per 1000 men in ww1 still an awesome video tho!
Hey man happy to hear you like my mod. And not to be that guy but. This map is actually based off of a actual section of front in the battle of the somme. A RUclips called usually hapless goes over a attack on this section of front and it actually went pretty simular to how his battle just went. They barely got into the first line of trenches before retreating
@@coltoncarrington2407 yes im not saying that the map is unrealistic, only the amount of machineguns in this specific video were unrealistic From what i saw roughly every 10th to 15th man had a machinegun in hand which is kinda ridiculous lol
@@coltoncarrington2407 while im talking to you, i would love to see your creativity for a map of the Battle of the Yser. As it was one of the most crucial and defining battles in the early war for Belgium.
Man I am so happy to see my mod working properly on your channel. It is very heartening to see how much people like it
Hey man I got no clue how to use the editor is there anyway I would be able to do a local skirmish battle with this mod
@SlimeDawg56 I don't know how to scrip that stuff yet. But there are alot of RUclips tutorials on the editor that could show you for now
Man we love it ! I’m a big fan of WW1 and MoW and to see a WW1 mod on GoH is crazy !! I’m so happy !! Keep working on it please !
It’s incredible
you do not understand how much we needed a ww1 mod thank you man

Back here after 6 months, just like the chill commentary and the battles
mod is so convincing that youtube thinks this is Hell Let Loose gameplay. lol
Love to see the entire map in action.
Wish The Great War: Western Front played and looked like this.
Would be cool to hear a whistle from the commander for the first wave or hear him say over the top boys.
Lots of lads paid for it that day.

The mod dev made an absolute good job ! There's already some mission for the mod in the workshop
i love this community
56,000 casualties on the first day. Dead, injured and dying. The worst day the British Army and it's Commonwealth has had to this day. Lest We Forget.
people really take for granted everything our ancestors fought for
I really want to play this it is sick
great vid. More ww1 please
Tolkien fought in this battle. He lost all of his friends.
Hope you have a nice day diplex, from a long time fan
A yes , hell let loose , the best rts out there , better than that turn based strategy game post scriptum

Heads up: It's showing hell let loose as the game being played below the description

Would you mind posting this scenario on the workshop for others?

Queeck that's not true. For example Australia had a Lewis gun for every ten men in 1918. This scenario is pretty realistic.
interesting
gates of hell?
game?
Is there melee attacks?
Meh. Try multiplying the amount of barbed wire by about a thousand and it might look a little bit like a 1916 Western Front battlefield.
what is the name of this game? and mod?
