I played against Hank and Bo Kimble in the Philadelphia public league in 1983-84. Back then, everyone knew these guys were special ( heading to NBA). RIP my hometown brother 🙏
Incredible it was 30 years ago with me, then 15 years old. That 89-90 LMU team was so incredible and Bo Kimble's heroics will never be eclipsed. What I wouldn't give to go back to 1990.
I was watching that game when this happened, remember it perfectly. I cried at the loss of such a great kid nd just a good talent. Hard to see this even 30 years later.
I just finished watching the movie "Final Shot: The Hank Gathers Story" on The Grio TV channel today. My very first time watching this movie was around 1993 when it had first aired on ABC and I was in the 7th grade. I didn't know who he was at the time, but what really connected me to Hank Gathers story was his gift for basketball, his sense of humor and his devotion to his family. I always felt saddened after watching the movie's ending, and was left wondering what happened to his son Aaron who was only 6 years old when his father passed away. But the good thing is that Hank Gathers made history, and he left a legacy. May God bless him ❤️❤️❤️
RIP cousin, gone wayyyy toooo soon!! The love, your smile and the talent you possessed always bring a smile to my face when I hear your name and see your videos.
This is something I'll never ever forget, man I was just only 10 yrs old when this happened. Me and my father was watching TV in the living room then that's when I noticed Hank gathers collapsed on the basketball court and died with a heart attack, Bo Kimble was great especially with the then unknown Shaquille O'Neal which we all mostly know as Shaq who would later become the world's most basketball player, actor and rapper and mostly known for flashing that smile I'll never forget you Hank, you have opened doors for many people to become basketball legends RIP ,🏀🙏🏽🕊️
