The idea behind the project is to collaborate online to record these covers.
Although some good friends of mine form the core of the project, the band won't necessarily be the same for every song. We will have guests from around the world participating, mostly on vocals though, at our discretion.
How does it work?
Each guy in the band records their parts (audio tracks and video) at home or at a local studio and sends them to me.
I then put the audio together and mix it. This has been a great exercise for me (mixing). I learn the concept behind the sound of my favorite albums and try a whole bunch of cool techniques attempting to replicate it closely.
I AB my mix with the original song but don't get too crazy about it. It's difficult to get the sound exactly right due to a number of variables. When I get it close enough I stop comparing the two and just get it to sound good (hopefully) from there.
When the final stereo audio track is done I take it to a video editing software and sync everyone's videos to it. After a bit of editing and level/color correction it's ready for RUclips. :)

That Korean guy is a MONSTER on the keyboards! Jordan Rudess would be proud of his work there.
I don't think there could be really many Keyboardists who could possibly cover any of Jordan Rudess' songs live due to how many layers he uses and just how nearly impossible it is to get a sound like him. But I think Junghwan Kim is probably one of the best keyboard players to this date. That guy has an unreal sound and covers any song he sets his mind to with ease. Jordan and Junghwan Rudess. Sounds good to me. Or maybe even Jordan Kim.
This is one of the best covers I have ever heard! The coolest part to me is that the timbre of the singers voice is eerily close to that of LaBrie himself. Awesome stuff, keep it up guys!

What are you using for effects? I have been looking at the Axe-FX II. Really an amazing piece of gear. If I was any good I would get one.

As a guitar player I watched it to judge essentially the solo, and it was incredibly good sir campos, as good as Cesar Huesca's cover but the sweep was a bit sloppy :(. Other than that you are a true awesome guitar player

We're not really looking for a permanent keyboardist for Bad Salad. The 4 of us are very happy with the current formation. Whenever we need a keyboardist we can have guests. Kim has been a great one at that, he's an amazing musician and a great guy to be around!

For the guitarist - can you pls specify the exact effects/amp settings/filters you used here to recover John’s sound? I watched probably all of the DT on RUclips done by guitarists/shared screen bands but never heard someone that reached such accurate as for the sound (and of course, the actual playing..). Would very much appreciate if you can give a response as detailed as possible for John’s sound.

People take criticism as a personal attack way too often even when the criticism isn't even aimed at them lol.
Constructive criticism is the only criticism that is acceptable. People who say "Post a video of you playing it better than them" have an unfounded argument unless the original commenter said they could play better than the original video. When people say a movie sucks, you dont expect them to go and write an entire movie. It's a completely stupid argument that holds no real logic behind it

I would definitely pay to see a cover of A Change Of Seasons :D that would be simply perfect, or Lost Not Forgotten too! I'd also like to point out that you always manage yourself to play with excellent musicians, but the vocals man! Oh my god! I would really love to see Octavarium and Breaking All Illusions covered by. I've also seen a professional singer here on youtube here who can immitate labrie very well if you need a good singer for future covers.
The singer sounds very generic. Like every average singer we hear in reality shows. People may say LaBrie sucks but at least his voice is unique. LaBrie sucks now but he used to be the bomb!

He's in no way better than James Labrie. DT's singer has a huge career behind him, and is still rocking. The cover suits very well this singer's voice though. Which doesn't make him better then James.
