These guys were the original "jam band" growing up in the southeast & the number of times I saw them.....They were my Grateful Dead. But to me,only better......
These guys are true musicians to fuse so many genre's of music into these inspiring melodies I'm 47 and damn pissed no one had told me of these guys sooner than last week. Very under rated band.
+Chuck Harvey They were pretty big back in the early 70's. Got to see them play twice with the original lineup. It was at a small venue that holds maybe 3000 people. It was out of this world. If you really want a treat get a copy of their "The Goose Is Loose" CD. Make sure you get the version with Talking About Goose Creek And Other Places on it. You can download it from Amazon. I own 2700 albums. That might be the best one. I've seen hundreds of concerts too. These guys are the real deal. If you get a chance to see them live DO NOT PASS IT UP! They play incredibly well live. They are the Grateful Dead of Appalachia. They are a big asset to the Hillbilly Nation.
Chuck Harvey you have great taste. I have had the pleasure of photographing them for many years now. I'm blessed enough to talk to these guys on a regular basis and they are good as it gets. I don't think there ever was, or ever will be another band this good. the Goose is loose album is beyond amazing. Gooooooooose!!
I discovered Goose Creek Symphony in 1974 up in Canada, through a couple from Tennessee who where staying at my university in Ottawa that summer. Still love them. Still have their "Welcome to GC" album. Sadly, never had a chance to see them live.
First put the album Words of Ernest on the turntable around 1972 . 48 years ago . Y'all's music has been a blessing. Lifting us up when we was down. Helping to get us on down this old road called life. We are better for having had it to listen to . From the bottom of my heart Thank You
Chattanooga, Tennessee 1972 yea 40 years ago. I was there. Theopening act was hall and Oates what a show. I remember it well. Goose Creek was my favorite band glad to see em still kickin God Bless-----Thad
I use to listen to these guys back in the seventies, Words of Ernest a definitive album for my life, haven't heard any new stuff in years and all I can say is WOW have they matured. I always thought these guys were underrated.
Personally, I think it's a shame that we seperate music into different genres. There should only be 2 kinds of music - good, and not so good. This is GOOD!
Perfect! I still treasure their Capitol albums from the 70s ... cornerstone of the soundtrack to my life in the wild hills of Wales back in the day. I want them to play at my 80th birthday party!
I still get up up and shake my ass to the music and anything else that will shake up Pecker Holler, KY, GREAT MUSIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! KEEP JAMMIN"!!
I remember waking up with them sleeping in the living room at Jack Sharp's house in 1972. Jack rented me a room . He was Lead guitar for Waylon in the day and a high school friend. Brings back memories of great music and great friends.
Well I've loved Goose Creek from the 70's. Charlie and country music on acid. Living in NYC we had a summer series of concerts in Central Park. Tickets were 3 and 5 dollars although they may have been a little higher a little later. Name the bands and artists of the era and they were there. A perfect venue in the heart of of Manhattan. We always looked forward to see the schedule and buy our tickets in advance for the summer. So Goose Creek was there. I think they opened, for all people, Ritchie Havens. Talk about a mismatch! Glad I got to see them in the a beautiful place.
They don’t tour anymore and I miss them very much. Thankfully we’re left with this and The Goose Is Loose recorded in Chattanooga a couple years before disbanding. The Chattanooga show was also notable because it featured some of the ex-members from over the years ( there were close to 30 of them)
Follow them on FB, on Sunday mornings they play music from all genres, get to hear bands that are great that I've never heard of before. They recently introduced me to Big Shoulders! Love their Sunday morning "FB show".
I have the distinction of saying I played "Vestibule Bully" on the radio in Los Angeles cir 1972 on Progressive Rock, KNAC-105.5 FM :Long Beach. Also played lots of other rock album songs the Top 40 stations couldn't touch. I cannot find a song writers credit for it anywhere.
saw goose creek on vacation in the med 70 at townson tnn at a race track,a dirt track I think,Charlie Daniels band. was backing them up a unforgetible time in my life when I was first out on my on they are great
1973 Heck ya!!!!!! OOOHHHHHH I was awoke to the wonders of a women with their album playing in the back ground. Still Dumb for it after all these years.
I remember a lot of the good music called "Cosmic Cowboy" music back in the 1970's. The best music had these long instrumental interludes that just let a person enjoy music for the sake of music. It may have all begun with these guys.
I stumbled across word's of earnest back in high school my freshman year of 1971 (damn thats a long time ago) but fell in love with that album and this band. Sadly watching the musicians in the band pass. Kills my soul but none of us live forever. They actually "fit right in" in my hometown of Austin Texas which died at least 15 years ago, they just keep the lights on pretending. Kinda strange
First saw em in 1970 at the 2nd atlanta pop festival..Charlie though was like me bout all we remembered was seeing Jimi Hendrix!Of course the festival being in the South Goosecreek went over big time...the original allman bros. opened the festival!!Three days of music..great acts ..only 14 bucks!Johnny winter..rare earth..mountain..spirit BB KING..poco..grand funk..john sabastian....on and on..Next got to see Goosecreek in my little town they were great..Charlie signed my old album and was great

Charlie was like Mick Jagger just a tremendous front man. Goose Creek was a very popular band in the early 70's in the south and then they seemed to disappear. Good to see them again. How many of the originals are in this concert?? I love it. Keep Rocin
love it whats the name of this song War, sin, a killin and a robbin They say that the world is one big problem I got one and I'll tell you now I can't find my Gernsey Cow If you'll go with me to the holler I will give you a half a doller If you show me a real good time I will give you a half a dime I didn't write no constitution but i got one good solution Drink a little wine, drink a little booze Sit on the back porch, pick a little blues
