I have a model A roadsters pick up that I helped my dad put together in the mid 70s with a flathead v8 and 4speed. Years later he gave it to me for my 30th birthday. Seeing your maiden in this truck brought back alot of memories. I still have the truck and in March I will have had it for 30yrs and I still love it. Thanks for the memorias, and keep up the good work. Love the videos and info you and your guys put out there. Thanks.
Seeing this truck in person at Wheels of Time really brings the project into perspective. Really cool build. Thanks to Matt for explaining how the turbo chargers heats the carburetor when we visited his tent.
and to think only a few short months ago, this was nothing more than a mess of nearly forgotten, unrelated parts, a crazy idea, and a guy who had an overwhelming desire to drag it out of his head, and bring it to life in the real world. it brings a smile to my face, and puts a song in my heart just hearing it run down the road, engine misses and all.
I LOVE IT!!!! GREAT VIDEO MATT!!!! CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR NEW DAILY DRIVER!!!! THAT IS ONE BADASS ROADSTER TRUCK!!!!! THANKS FOR SHARING!!!! I LEARNED SO MUCH!!!!
Wow!!! You've got a killer cool ride after so much excellent work! When you first brought that out from it's other home, it was just a dream! What a great reality now!!
Geez, I recognize that place, I grew up about 5 miles from there. I haven't been back since the 80's. Very cool truck, I'm happy to see it on the road. Now you can finish it up and put it to work (shop truck) !
ITG needs it's own gas pump down at the shop. A nice vintage unit. Thanks for the ride. Saw an Oktoberfest sign as you drove through town and it triggered my Transylvania Saxon roots so now I'm thirsty. 🤘
I love these videos where we get to see you driving one of your cars. I hope we get to see 'Dad's daily' on the road once you've done the seals and rubber strips.
It's great that you made that first drive without breaking down. My first drives normally involve breaking down, if it's going well I normally go too far and run out of fuel! On one I had a momentary engine seizure! Ha ha great to watch, guys and Steve is integrating into the show well.
Awesome job on the truck , gents ! What a difference from the rusty parts hauler on bare wire rims you hauled out last Christmas . It's quite the evolution to a running , driving , V8 powered truck . As with anything put together from numerous parts & modifications , some fine tuning is required to "tweak" it in to a fine running , fully functional automobile . All things considered , to just have a little tuning to do on the engine , you did quite well ! "No death wobble" is a very good thing ! Loved the transformation on this one , it really looks & sounds nice ! Hope you do well in the wheels of time show !
Hi Matt this is juan your RUclips channel watchers named Eric I live in Oceanside California I like what you’re doing with the old cars and I’d like to see Kate once a while if she has a chance to be on the channel keep doing what you’re doing then you are really teaching me stuff that I will never learn any other way And I like to see when you finish up the work on the roads to pick up that is actually cool little truck do more milk hall type things because I like those videos I like watching when you guys get those packages and you open them up and show us everything And also I’m glad you have Steve helping you and your dad comes to see you know pole barn that looks great on top of your shop when are you gonna get the rest of the cars in there so you have them all right there close by
Man that's a cool truck! If I had an extra million dollars, I'd be bugging your ass for it. Thanks for the maiden cruise..it was awesomely cool as Hell. Take care guys..
well your making big progress knocking these projects out ! these guys that have been working on the same "1" car for the past 15 years , are not working on it , that just gives them the excuse to go out in the garage & hide from the " wifey " , who otherwise would be giving him " grief " day in & day out !! if they finish the car , " then they have no place to hide " !! KEEP UP THE GREAT PROGRESS , & GREAT VIDEOS !!!!!
Awesome always a major win I just drove my hot rod project for the first time last weekend to the gas satiation and back a little sketchy but she made it, awesome job guys
That is amazing you're driving that thing after getting it at Christmas that thing runs good but you got to get the bugs out and you're going to do it I know you can good job Brothers
Awesome video loved watching it come together and see it on the rd I,m currently building a Rat truck 1954 International pick up twin carbed 280 Vietnam issue Army built in Australia AR110
@@IronTrapGarage Hahaha! Actually I was getting a kick out of it while poking a little fun! But yes I missed the explanation of how you vented the tank, will go back & see what I missed, because I did wonder what your solution was.
Morning Matt & Steve, my guess is some carb issues, probably need to quiet it down some....other than those two things, pretty cool!!....are you planning on a Carson top or? Y'all be safe!! God Bless!!!
I was watching an old B&W movie from 1953 starring John Ireland called The 49th Man. In the opening scene there's a kid in an AV-8 RPU, very much like your shop truck (except with a louvered hood top, no sides) rodding hard on a New Mexico twisty two lane mountain road. He wrecks the roadster and a few minutes later in the protagonist, John Ireland, is talking to his rodder buddies to learn more about him. In that scene there features 3 trad hot rods from '53: an AV-8 hiboy roadster, a track T with a Cadillac engine and the main car, a '27 channeled roadster with Deuce grill, WWWs and a beautiful full-dress Flattie. They are only short scenes but are a great look at early '50s hot rods, the kind we love. If you get a chance check it out. It's on RUclips, just search The 49th Man 1953. Very much admire your channel, shop, mission and talent. Cheers!
Hello Matt and Steve , good job on getting the P U on the road , she's looking sweet . Perhaps you could do a hot rod 101 on what it takes to get a bitsa car registered for the road in the US for your overseas viewers . Do you have to take it somewhere where it's independently tested for brakes, steering, suspension and lights etc . Here in the UK we have to jump through loads of government hoops and roadworthy tests to get on the road . Hello to Mike as well .
@@IansGarage I was wondering that . I watch too much YT , mostly US content and the condition that some of the cars get driven beggers belief . For their own safety and others . I believe some states don't even have an annual roadworthiness test .
People in America would loose their minds if they had to go through an M.O.T. . I was an automotive inspector and customer got mad because I failed their car for bald tires , worn balljoints , and bad brakes .
@@ogribiker8535 I wasn't aware that France was that strict . Germany usually gets referenced as the difficult country to do non standard vehicle builds . Love your user name , remember reading him in Bike magazine back in the day . Rockers rule .
The headders turning blue usually means a lean fuel condition ...Otherwise amazing job in such a short time even with all the traveling you guys have done ...
Is your gas tank vented? If air can`t get in, gas can`t get out. You know you are in a sketchy-mobile when you need safety glasses when driving.😂 Don`t forget to reassemble the old generator parts to return for the core charge.💲
All we did to convert was just swap the housing with the field windings. Use the 6 volt armature and each end of the 6 volt generator. 12 volts after swapping the regulator.
@@papaClutch415 Yes. Did it twice. The windings in the field coils is more for 12 volts then for 6 volts. Just change the regulator and polarize for neg ground.

Does this engine have the old heads which need the lead substitute additive for the valves to seat correctly? Sweet ride....
The heads have no valves, they are in the block and no lead substitute should be needed as these valves came with hardened seats from the factory
