For anyone who didn't know, each song on this album was made in one day (one day per song) in a huge tour around the U.S. Not to mention all of it was created using only an iPad. Absolutely nuts
For some reason I can't help but picture a movie ending with this song as the protagonist walks off into the wasteland in a long shot until they're out of focus. This is why I love Gorillaz, I can build entire movies and books around each song. That's not good music. That's masterful music.
@@SebzZomeI unironically cannot think of a better setting to a FallOut game than Amarillo. Have a New Republic of Texas holding off whatever new threat you have set against a backdrop of Route 66, a nuclear weapons plant (currently dismantling them IRL) and an airforce base with secret tunnels (now all civilian IRL) You also have trains and cattle. And more cowboys. It'd be the best game to add in horses and motorcycles or add back cars.
I'mAlEsbian (wait, i guess your username says that you are lesbian... yaaay :v )my favorite from this álbum is revolving doors, then amarillo(I love this song!!!) and the third one is little pink plastic bags (Sorry for my bad english)
"I got lost on highways But don't ask me where I've been Or what I've done Oh Lord send me transmission Forgive me for what I've become The Sun is gonna save me Put a little love into my lonely soul" Every time I hear this song, I almost instantly start to tear up. The way Damon delivers his vocals bring a lot of emotional weight with them. Such a great song from a really great album
This album was literally made by I believe 3 singers, 1 editor, and 1 iPad. This isn't just an amazing album to me, it's magical. Besides it's nice to have a chill, Damon-singing-80%-of-the-time album for once. His voice is perfect beyond belief
***** Well, I know that thing about Plastic Beach with the Boogie Man, but I don't really recall him being kidnapped by Murdoc and being locked in his room.
This is arguably one of, if not Damon's most beautiful compositions. An instrumental that cries of better days gone by and the foreboding isolation of what's to come, accompanied by lyrics very much in the same vein. Just an amazing track.
It's also the most accurate recreation of Amarillo I've ever heard. It's a crossroad city, with unending trains. It's a melancholy place where the roads sing like sirens, pulling lost travellers out, only to force them to return. It's own history books refer to it as a wasteland. I've seen inmates panic, near to tears, as they find out it doesn't even have an HEB.
"The mountains are waiting The full moon has come I got lost on highways But don't ask me where I've been Or what I've done Oh Lord send me transmission Forgive me for what I've become The sun has come to save me Put a little love into my lonely soul The Sun is gonna save me Put a little love into my lonely soul Oh don't you know why I need her loving you It's no desire." - It's a very sad song but it summarizes most of my prayers.
El Phelezino Sometimes Damon's songs sound Christian. I don't think he is, but I really hope he finds Christ... I can hear him searching for God in his music.
Heres some lyrics: The mountains are waiting The full moon has come I got lost on the highway But don't ask me where I've been Or what I've done Oh Lord, send me transmission Forgive me for what I've become The sun has come to save me Put a little love into my lonely soul The sun has come to save me Put a little love into my lonely soul Oh, don't you know why you need her loving you No desire
I think this is my favorite song on the album, purely for the feelings it invokes. It's like nostalgia and depression mixed with the feeling of being left behind by time and everything else. At the same time it feels like closure and acceptance of the incoming future.
Tony Blanco Murdoc was awful to 2-D during phase 3, I think it’s the worst he’s ever treated him. He beat him and kept him locked in an underground cellar with a huge window looking at a whale (one of 2-D’s biggest fears at the time).
@@Mal-ou8yl it's supposed that their new mvs are acted out by them (for example, in the désolé mv Murdoc was crying, but he explained it was all acted), but anyways 2-D has been harmed by Murdoc for a long time, i just hope things get better. :-(
The pain that Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett went through during this can be felt too. This was supposed to be the last Gorillaz album, as Damon and Jamie had a falling out over money disputes and the fact that EMI dropped their Rhinestone Eyes video for the Doncamatic single.
Well, it actually is. Canonicaly this album was made by him and in the fifth pirate radio he says how the songs are part of his eternal suffering and the meaninglessness of life.
I remember them coming through here, all those years ago. I never got the chance to see them, but they recreated it so well. Amarillo has been in more songs than almost any other city, yet this is the most accurate, right down to it being a cross roads, and the non-stop beating of the trains. The whole thing is set to the timing of an old steam engine. You can ever hear the cars in the background on their way to the mountains.
I don't know if it's just me but, i imagine riding a train and listening to this song. I live by a train (not a station but a dead end by a train by a walkway). It's a very nice (depressing but nice) song to listen to and I'm very glad their coming back.
I never liked this song because i thought it was too depressing, but i got in a kinda sad mood today and decided to give this a listen again and i do not regret it. Fucking beautiful
This is one of my favorite songs from "The Fall." The slightly more depressed feeling of the song makes it great for me to walk the streets of Detroit. It makes the city feel more alive to me.
I found this song back in 2020 and this became my favorite gorillaz song of all time. i could talk about it all day with not only how beautiful it sounds but the strong meaning behind it. how it represents depression and sorrow, moving on from your past and towards a bright future. i will always love this song from the bottom of my heart

Beautiful and sobering comment in the same time.. Broke up with a girl, with whom I was 4 years. She cheated on me few months, into our relationship. I forgave her, and moved on. After 3 more years, I've decided to quit it, since I kept being suspicious about certain things she did throughout our 4 years and I didn't wanna blame her for no reason, "just because I have thoughts in my head, bc of previous cheating". I remember her words, during breakup "is it bc you found someone else Alex?" and "thanks for leaving me in my most difficult period" "i'll make a new insta, can't keep the old one, it reminds me of you". Well... 3 months after our breakup, naturally, I started missing her.. 4 years are not a joke. I found out for her new insta and boy oh boy..
