But it looks as if you can to some extent choose the order in which you do the Gyms, as long as you get the right Secret Techniques. So what happens if you defeat the Gyms in the wrong order?
It doesn’t really matter cause I wound up skipping a gym by mistake and got two badges out of order and it doesn’t matter you just need the badges to progress through the gates to get to the last gym

In the timeline with Mega Evolution though, if he does do the radio broadcast, the reason Giovanni doesn't come is because he is in a different universe, commanding Rainbow Rocket. That's my theory anyway.
