    Sending love from the UK.
I'd send money but the government will take your benefits away.
Seriously, would it be so bad to help raise people up into an employable status, so they can earn enough to support themselves? You'd think a government hell bent on increasing productivity would think of that.

Andrew Yang actually points out the flaws of the U.S. American welfare system in his book, he also explains how the vast majority of applications are rejected and how you need lawyers, and how people who really want to work can't work because the system doesn't actually incentivise working. He explains how he went through towns in the Midwest where almost entire towns are on social support and how the system can break one's will to look for meaning and meaningful activities in life. .
Andrew Yang is one of the few people who actually understands our situation because he actually went out and talked to people.
Here in the Netherlands we have the same system, for whatever reason I assumed that this system didn't exist in those U.S.A. and what you're going through is similar to what I'm going through, the main difference being that I have to pay for mandatory health insurance with absolute minimal coverage (private healthcare in the Netherlands is largely a scam industry that exploits insurance takers/payers).
Thankfully, my wife's income doesn't affect my disability welfare, but literally every other type of welfare does get cut if you have a partner and because my wife got a chronic illness she can't request benefits because I already have them.

I am so happy that someone is bringing stuff like this into the public eye, while I’m thankful to not be on the streets, a lot of the stuff is just down right cruel. I have a lot of help, but sometimes I feels like it’s not enough especially with the snap benefits, I get 60 dollars of snap money for food, which is better then some people I know who get only 20, it doesn’t feel like enough to provide actual healthy meals for myself, so some of my money goes to rent, then for constant expenses especially if you have pets, and then food..the fact that they do ding you for help from family for food is beyond cruel.. you need food. It’s an extremely scary thing, when you nearing the end of the month and you have next to no money in your account. I can’t make more money, because even if I miraculously get hired some where, i would only be able to do part time, making my benefits go away, and i would be worse off.. i forgot who said it, but someone called SSI a poverty trap.

I forgot to mention the section 8 housing, I have a waver thing that makes rent based on income which is great.. until I want to find a way to be financially stable, because any sort of change to SSI will change my rent, any bit of income will change my rent, again this is very scary, each month it feels like you are slowly losing it all and drowning, because I’ve met so many people, including myself who will blow through all of their money within a month, what happens of theres an emergency expense? Oh well, I literally have to ask my parents for help some times, especially with the amount of medical expenses too.

A foot note to this.. the section 8 housing I am in currently has almost everything breaking within 1 year of staying there, an abundance of bugs, and black mold

Your video is great. I found out that despite my perfected masking at 45, I sleep for the whole day just for helping mom on grocery. I also have this rollercoaster of not getting into task and sudddenly not sleeping out of conpulsiveness. My childhood was pretry hard for suffering bulling and ginecomasty. I did a second time diagnostic with an adult aultistic professional neuropsicolog this month, and I may finally get my diagnstic correct. I will try my benefits. I have to know better about punishments here in brasil, but I guess for living with my 75 years old mom, that I'm helping with, may not aplly, even as she is allways on red, because of bank debts. Is very hard to live without my own money, even if is just a few. But I'm lucky. I have my mom.

01:00:30 I actually already get more benefits than that in the Kingdom of the Netherlands, I genuinely thought that the richest country in the world would have higher benefits than us.

Kinda sad when you have to brag about receiving more benefits because you dont actually have anything to have pride over.

I'm newly diagnosed and am considering phoning a local coffee establishment as I regularly have difficulties communicating and tend to give the wrong impression to the staff. Do you think it would be worth explaining myself to them over the phone or should I just stop frequenting there establishment?

01:00:10 I always assumed that for U.S. Americans $ 10.000,- is mere pocket change, I'm genuinely surprised that there's a 2K savings cap as most U.S. Americans have hundreds of thousands of Dollars in bank savings.

    • @KittyBionic
      @KittyBionic 11 дней назад +1

It's by design. The 2K cap is really easy to surpass and you get kicked off the system. The government doesn't want to provide for disabled folk because they view us as worthless. It's prevalent in our elected officials' rhetoric.
Instead, they limit our participation, hope we mess up so they can kick us off the meager help the govt. begrudgingly provides, and hope we die in a corner somewhere.

It’s nice to feel less alone but we really need a total overhaul on the current system. The rules haven’t been changed or updated in like 50 years and it’s a different world now.

Really I just keep ssi and ssdi for the insurance because I need my medicine and that stops me from working, also I have a daughter under 5 can’t get married because of what you explained and I’d be working just to keep her in daycare.
