However one looks at the Krays today, I feel that one has to see them for what they were - chancers! Post World War II, the U.K. was in a real mess and the time was ideal for those with the 'right' attitude to challenge society's 'norm.' In my opinion, its difficult to obtain unbiased information on any person or period in time, because Human Beings will always try to 'colour' their views/opinions to suit their own take on life. Just my opinion - no insult meant to anyone who was connected with the Krays or any other characters in recent history...
