Why didn't Crowdstrike and Microsoft test before putting this out?
Someone mentioned Microsoft pushed it without any testing.

No, this went to the "kernel" or very basic level of coding in a computer, hacking usually hits things like apps, extensions.
We depend on computers to much.
CrowdStrike’s recent downtime is ironically eroding the financial savings it promises to secure for companies against hackers. Companies invest in security after hearing about others losing millions to cyberattacks, only to face similar operational disruptions themselves. For instance, a company might avoid a $2M hack by using the software, but then suffer greater losses due to downtime-potentially costing more than the original threat they aimed to mitigate.
Downtime while they install new software?
This is how I feel about most insurance. You pay into the insurance - only to be told it’s not covered. And perhaps you could have helped future your self more simply by saving those payments into a separate account for emergencies.
Especially when it's worldwide and affects major corporations, health care services, and cities.
This denial service attack spreads accross the entire global network the internet affecting any devices with window operating systems including personal home computer. It affected my PC. How can you say that's not a network attack?
Is this connected to the failure of the Windows 11 update release?
It's not directly connected to the 11 version, but it's a separate program that is available for Windows OS 10 and 11.
Most personal computers won't have it from Crowdstrike.
I still can't conceive the following points:
1) How were such a widely used product's automatic and manual test processes not able to catch the bug?
2) Don't they adopt canary or blue/green deployment strategies in order to reduce the blast radius in such large roll-outs?

Two companies Crowdstrike and Microsoft caused worldwide outages. Anyone would think having just two companies able to affect MILLIONS of people worldwide wouldn't be a good idea.
Consolidation may make some things easier, but it has (obviously) it's own drawbacks. Hospitals MUST have reliable systems. People could easily lose their life because of the lack of information.
Linux users, Apple users of Macintosh machines are NOT affected.
Testing MUST be done on anything changed or added to a computer, especially if it is kernel level.
If there are "strike keys" on computers, it requires an IT specialist to do the removal of the file.
Recommended to get someone who knows where to find the file and how to remove it safely.
Each computer must be started in "safe mode".

That is just foreshadowing entire IT departments resigning after realizing vast amounts of computers each need MANUAL file directory fixes because they’re all OFFLINE/cant connect to internet. FUBAR.
CrowdStrike wasn't down. They CAUSED IT systems to GO down.
Some were calling it Microsoft Outage.

BTW if you have friends staring at the blue screen of death tell them to restart their device even if they need to unplug the power first and on restart the os will revert to its last good point and the bad patch is removed. Can't figure out why the world hasn't thought of that. I restarted one drive and it has been working fine since.
This is why we should not exclusively use technology or AI to solve agricultural problems. While border security is important, cyber security is more essential.

Bothers me that outlets are reporting it as Microsoft, when it's not Microsoft. It's a third party security software that runs on Microsoft windows. I get that not everyone is familiar but still.

Linux and Apple Mac users are NOT affected.
Linux is also commonly known as "Android" OS like a lot of phones.
Linux is frequently used to "beta test" apps, programs, extensions even by many corporations.
This obviously wasn't tested before it was "pushed" by both companies.

90% of all IT related issues are outsourced to India. Crowdstrike may be based in Texas but they outsourced some of their duties to India.
And what about Crowdstrike India? You trying to assume they caused this issue?
@@denzelpardillo1181 Boeing's flight simulation software issues a couple years ago were also caused by bad software coding done by Indian software engineers. So yes I bet my bottom dollars this update was not thoroughly tested by Indian testers.

Didn't drop the ball, no way that kernel made it through beta testing participants, so it was fully authorized and intentional. Which is way worse as that is but a small part of the coming whole.

To save face, Microsoft has always blamed when it crashes a virus, which in the majority of the cases was not true it was faults in the windows programming now they blame the antiviruses sorry but it’s just faulty. Updates done to the windows system on your computer long time ago it was Few updates now they’re doing massive updates all of the computers at the same time and Microsoft is not replacing anymore. It’s software it just left it as is with all its bugs. Microsoft is the one to blame and Microsoft should be sued because it’s a huge problem because everybody has been depending on, monopoly has Microsoft and the alternative is going days and maybe months to fix all of this
