There’s a popular theory about that and it’s most likely correct. Mars probably looked just like Earth before and had life. However, the core of the planet gradually cooled down, causing it to lose its magnetic fields which led the planet to be unprotected from solar flares which eventually turned Mars into what it is today.

My theory is Phobos killed Mars. Olympus Mons is the impact site and Vallis Marinaris is the exit wound. Here is a somewhat vulgar video uploaded about it:
    ruclips.net/video/C5QBh-7jwEw/видео.html
The only thing I have changed is Mars was originally covered with mostly water, if not totally. My theory was inspired by CSI, super massive blackholes, and Occums Razor (thanks Carl).

Mars called the Red planet has iron or rust which happens when moisture causes oxygenation of iron or what we call rust. With ice at the polar areas of Mars what took the NASA an eternity to claim water there?

I know this video is old, but I think we started in Mercury, due to the Sun being so hot over the years, we moved to Venus. After Venus, we moved to earth, and since the Sun is getting hotter and bigger, Mars will be habitable and, be our new planet. Maybe in 10,000 years, Earth will be in the same situation as Venus and Mercury.

First sights of water in mars does it mean life?
My opinion: Kinda, Water is one of the most important materials of terraforming, The water would have some chance of creating bacteria making 1st sights of life, But to make water get life, They need to terraform grass, But if it fails then. Life would never happen on mars alone. But if humans support then. Life on mars would have a high chance and the atmosphere. Atmosphere at least needs some O2 but not a lot. If there is a lot then, Toxic would start to form (little chance) then life on mars would be toxical animals. The heat needs to be 287,000 MK. But if they are not in 287,000 MK then. Some bad stuff would happen like global warming, Extinction and other stuff. Now that's my opinion now cya.
