- The weird phenomenon in 2024 of bands who bear no similarity to Taylor Swift weighing in on her in one way or another continued most recently with Eminem's weird praise of the superstar in a promo video for his critically panned new album, "The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grace)" earlier this week. I explore that here.
I apologize on behalf of my AC system, which kicked on about 2/3 of the way into this video, creating some background noise. My AC system is a total diva always looking for attention so it does me like that sometimes, an ongoing dispute in which I vow to prevail. 💪

Taylor and Eminem goes far back! And why would it be so strange for artists to shout each other? Taylor shouts out other artists all the time.
Why should music fans hear only 1 genre? In my all time favorite playlist are not only Taylor Swift and Eminem, but also Disturbed (several of my favorite songs, not just Sound of Silence).
Having an eclectic music taste isn’t that rare. In my lifetime thus far I have thoroughly enjoyed many musical genres. The depth and inexhaustible variety of human emotion, for me, needs many forms of expression to achieve catharsis. Before I came to know much of Taylor’s repertoire I enjoyed an array of musical genres, including metal and rap. I still do, alongside enjoying Taylor. It’s really not that out of left field as they are two giants in the larger music industry. Taylor has actually made it known she has been an Eminem fan in previous years also, having covered ‘Lose Yourself’ on the Speak Now tour many years ago.

Not weird, Taylor has worked with LOTS of other artists. She has performed with Fall Out Boy, Bon Jovi, Future, Kendrick Lamare, Justin Timberlake, Mary J. Blige, Paramore, Post Malone, Florence and the Machine, numerous country music stars, Brenden Uri, and so many more. Some have songs with her, videos, or performed at her tour shows. She's been doing that for a decade or longer. She supports so many artists and exposes a lot of us to their music, like Beyonce, Niki Minaje, and so many more. She has lots of movie tracks. Taylor and Eminem use cadences, syllable runs, etc... she loves rap music and so don't the swifties
@@Turnermama Don't forget her collaboration with Lana Del Rey on "Snow on the Beach" from her "Midnights" album, which I've previously discussed on this channel. I enjoy that record and their work together, and I think Lana had more influence over that album than we may know.

This is a very cynical channel. What is wrong with artists praising other artists. Taylor has praised other artists all the time. I think critics are getting more irrelevant all the time.
@Ricky48888 I also think they criticise artists without doing a deep dive it's not genuine. I'm so sick of hearing she only does bubblegum pop. She has 18 years of music, and sure, early years are less mature, but she was a teenager. I listened to Guilty as Sin today, and it's definitely adult content!
Real recognizes real. Taylor and Eminem are my favorite artists, I have all kinds of playlists with both of them along with a lot of other artists including Disturbed 🫶🤘
